Dave Hilton was the best boxer in the Hilton family and all of Canada, He had the best left hook and right punch. One of the best in the world, too bad he got himself in trouble. I feel soo sad for him.
Their lives would make a movie or a mini series I'd watch it in a second. I fully agree with what the father said in the end it's not no one elses fault except themselves for what had transpired in their lives whether its the good bad or the ugly. I know one thing though its never to late to turn your life around as long as you realize with God all things are possible.
David was probably the most talented but couldn't stay out of trouble. Matthew did the most career wise, but his prime was very short. He never fully recovered from the Hines loss
The Hilton's are what you see is what you get they make no excuses for what they do or done they are men in the truest sense of the word Davey if anyone has a brain aint no rapist. conviction or not he ain't no rapist Alex Matt Jimmy are all talented amazing fighters. Instead if us judging them let's praise them for what they achieved .
At 16 I had an exhibition bout with Stewart Hilton (19); and yes, he took it easy on me. Stewart died in a motorcycle accident when he was barely in his 20's, I believe. He was clearly different from his siblings, and I remember him having a disquieted kind of self awareness; like he expected something tragic.
This was in the mid 80's when, I think, the family was at the height of it's confidence and good fortune. I did meet them all when they were at 'Club De Boxe Champion'. Davey, like the rest of the family, was a total gentleman to everyone, as the brothers reserved their ribbing, and maybe some of their 'darker side' for each other. Matthew was the most gregarious with all of us, and I couldn't believe how such a superstar could be so humble and cool. So, around 1985: Davey was in the spotlight and doing well as a pro; Alex seemed to be getting in trouble with the law more often; Matthew was just starting to show real potential---and people were beginning to say "He's going to be champion of the world". Stewart still seemed to be more of a boxer than a power puncher. He was more reserved, and he didn't seem to be able to throw himself into the sport with the same abandon as his older brothers.
@@heavenseek I lived around the corner from the club, seen the Hilton's often.. these guys never had the brains to be champions..just too stupid all of them, I remember one time dave Jr walking up to the club on the street with wine stains all down his shirt smelling of cigarettes and wasted out of his mind.. what kind of professional athlete does that? Please
The Hiltons are the Greatest and Worst story of a Canadian ( even world) boxing legacy. For one family to have that many talented world class boxers and end up how they did is saddening. But at the same time we can hope and pray that they all have happiness after boxing and find joy and happiness in their lives. I pray to god that they find the peace they deserve and live productive and happy lives. 🙏🙏🙏
Justice doit etre rendu OUI.
@@freedomofspeech2238 when i met him i reminded him of the time when Tyson beat Botha - after his interview with Jim Grey he called Davey up to the ring . So i was talkin' to Davey bout that , and Davey says . Lol . " Yeah thats when my problems stared when i ran into this guy again" . He was a funny guy .
Sad case of wasted talent. I remember Matthew beating Buster Drayton in 1987 for the title, the next day, my Dad asked me to hop on my bike to get the French paper for coverage of the fight. Davey beating Ouellette in 1998 was great as well. I think it was mostly self destructive behaviour, but bad luck too. They had no business sense though, even if they would have managed to get huge contracts, Don King would have robbed them for the majority. $10 million gross can be reduced to less than $1.5m once taxes, fees, and promoter cut gets taken. I remember Shoofey’s murder too, wouldn’t be surprised if Don King was responsible....scumbag
Don't forget, Dave Hilton beat Dingaan Thobela to win the WBC title. By then, I thought the 21st century Hiltons had matured and all their juvenile troubles were far away. Boy was I wrong!
Iv met them many times , they were always very nice to me , I think the majority of their problems were alcohol related , very nice people , Alcohol as destroyed many lives and careers , very sad turn of events
