IF THEY DIDN'T PUT ME TO MENTAL ASYLUM AND I WOULD EVEN MADE ALOT OF MUSIC VIDEOS IN 2019, THAT WOULD ALMOST INSTANTLY/VERY QUICKLY GET OVER 500 BILLION VIEWS PER VIDEO, BECAUSE OVER A BILLION PEOPLE WOULD ALMOST LISTEN TO MY MUSIC ON REPEAT UNTILL THEY GO TO SLEEP. close to all my 1000-2000 songs on 2019, would been over 220 billion times better than all songs in the history of the world.
A day later and many listens of the second verse hits way more than I could've imagined. Michael has finally put himself before other people for the first time and gave us the contrast between hating the people that left and snaked him to him being suicidal and having more important things on his mind. The evolution and the sincere story of this artist is beyond everything. We're a huge family and he's never kept us in the dark about himself and how he feels, which is actually very rare nowadays and not many people, let alone artists share as much as he does. 5 months later, honestly I cant even count how many times I've played this song. Hits in a spot Ive never felt before from music. Makes me feel like Im on a lonesome beach, yet happy to be there. Such a beautiful track. Came a lonnnggg way from Shoot For The Face era to now. Never ending unconditional love for ya brother.

At least every other day I find myself thinking he may be a victim of his own talent and effortless skill because he makes some of the things he does next level sound, seem and feel so effortless that are anything but easy and simple potentially land that way to the casual listener or folks just getting acquainted to his work. The curse of excellence is a tough and unforgiving one and you see it in many facets of life, but I feel it's particularly potentially at play with his smooth style and the insanely subtle and nuanced aspects layered into his work. Even just down to the timing of some of the choices or down to the choices he doesn't make that the ear almost expects even as an avid listener still boggle my mind. Its absurd the stuff that reveals itself even after 100s and then some of listens to some of his stuff. Sorry for rambling, but I say all that to say, agreed. He's been at least seemingly just in a special gear in his own lane since at least Sickopatomous or Tales of Michael Johnson and at times just doing things with a freedom that is so effective and vicariously as a listener so therapeutic and contagious. By the time Sick James's last track plays, anything he did after is icing on the cake of his catalogue IMO. That was at least a 3rd or 4th straight home run of an album to the point that Sickopatomous even as a partner release and even as dope as it is, it always feels like a Side B+Plus++ just be fuckingcuz like some fanservice with a side of haterwoundsalt.
