Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial! I've never seen anyone using a torch like this, but have always wanted to know how it's done. I'm hoping to add these skills to my level of experience sometime soon. Thank you again! I really enjoyed this tutorial!

Thank you so much for sharing this. I have always used a smaller gauged wire to make pendulums. I intend to try a heavier gauge wire on my next pendulums. I was previously limited to the gauge that would fit through the bead. Never thought of doing it this way. The tips tend to bend in your pocket with thinner gauges. I can use ANY bead now.

It's been over a decade since I soldered or did anything with a torch, and while I was excited when I first got back into creating a couple years ago, I quickly became terrified and overwhelmed... and my torch and most of my tools are sitting in their packages unopened due to my anxiety. (Actually I haven't made anything in several months now... :/) But, you make it seem so simple! I love it. You are so easy to follow and yet dont make it feel like too much work to bother! I'm so excited I found you. Will be scrolling through your other tutorials for sure!

Thank you! Comments like yours really make this worthwhile! 😊 I try to cover all bases with my tutorials from simple, quick pieces with few tools, to various ways of using different tools and combining techniques - so there's something for everyone to feel comfortable with. But I'd say with torch work, make sure you are protected and your space is safe, then just have a go! If it doesn't work out all you've lost is a bit of copper, and you've gained experience and learning 😃 Let me know how you get on!

A lovely project. Thank you for the tutorial. Any of those (and other) types of gemstones would look pretty- I like a versatile project.

Thank you! Yes! I was so torn, so I'm glad I opened it up to a vote! And each gemstone brings a slightly different character to the piece too! 😃

The video was well-made. I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you so much. I don’t know if I’m gonna make the project yet but it led me to inspiration for something that I had in mind. Again thank you.

Are you using all round wire?

Pretty. I didn't realize an open flame would get the metal hot enough to melt. Do you put anything on the finished pieces to keep them from tarnishing? I made a copper pendant for my wife that she doesn't wear because of the tarnish. I've been thinking of coating it with clear nail polish.

You should see my fusing video - mad technique but great fun! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_DRM1Z4-FQI.html I do coat my pieces - I use Protectaclear from Everbrite, but it could be worth trying a clear varnish - I'd look for one that allows a bit of flexibility. I've heard of people using nail polish, I think it will work, but has the possibility of flaking after a while. Alternatively you can just clean the piece regularly and protect it from air and moisture as much as possible when not wearing it.

Beautiful work! Did you patina the pendant after adding the bead or does the patina part come first?
@LilyTree
@LilyTree 5 лет назад
Thank you! I patina after adding the bead - but if you're using a soft gemstone you can patina first. In that case I would also patina the 0.6mm wire that I'm about to use, then polish the high points afterwards to bring out the detail in the wrapping. 🙂

You dont need any flux to fuse the piece? Only to soldier?

You know, I didn't even think of that! 😄 I didn't use any, but it is worth a try as it may make it easier. I will have to give it a go!
