I would just like to update you all. I have added some further notes on some characters' unique magic after some of you suggested further points to add on which I truly appreciate. Thank you so much everyone! Also, I have add of the french subtitle that I was speaking of in the French comment in the beginning of the video.
Same here. I knew about Riddle and Azul. For Jamil, i didn't knew was it was because of Jafar's snake form. I thought it was because of Jafar's staff when he mind controlled the Sultan.
Yes that too. Both Jafar’s staff and his snake form. I’ll add a note of that in the English subtitles for this video after I add the French subtitles to this video.
Love the video and I would like to add some points. For Leona’s unique magic and some character designs might be based on the show The Lion Guard. Now stick with me for this real quick, I know it’s a kids show but there are some things in the show that are parallel with Leona. For example, his tattoo on his arm had a lion head which matches the mark of the Lion Guard. And it was given to both Kion and Scar who were second-born lions and were given the Roar of the Elders. Hence Leona’s unique magic ‘King’s Roar’. For Jamil, the reference is both the snake on Jafar’s staff and the hypnosis he performs on the Sultan. It’s not so much the name that’s a reference but the ability itself. Jamil is able to control people with hypnosis magic like Jafar did.
Thank you so much for the information. I really appreciate it when others add onto my research as I want to ensure that what I present is correct. Again, thank you so much!
It’s fairly easy for the villain legacy characters, aka the Overblot 8. (I count Ortho since Idia and he do everything together, including destroying the world so they can live how THEY want.) Some of the other main cast members’ Unique Magics/Signature Spells are harder to work out. If you have Disney villain knowledge, or basic RPG style spell knowledge, their effects are logical and recognizable. Favorite spell from each house: Doodle Suit/Paint the Roses (good for getting needed nutrients, could be devastating in a fight if high damage spells are changed by it) Chant with Me (Hate how Ruggie uses it for stealing and hurting people; can’t deny its effectiveness in crowd control) Jade’s spell, forget the name (niche, one time use application, but deadly effective at getting subject to reveal crucial information) Oasis Maker (Jamil is my TWST twin and the overall BEST villain legacy character, but coercion hypnosis is not something that would be useful for me. Not a compliment airhead party boy.) Sleep Kiss/Crimson Slumber (gives allies a chance to recharge and repel damage; flip side takes out enemies for limited time; incredibly useful either way.) Idia and Ortho have the same bloodline signature spell, which is a devastating burden for minors to carry. Destruction, fear and confusion in my favorite main story chapter speaks for itself. Meet in a Dream/Once Upon a Dream (gives context to Silver’s narcolepsy and also effective for empathetic searching for roots of fear; I have yet to see Sebek or Lilia’s spells, no doubt both geared for combat) Dark Fire (Both the Fire lotus and this spell are references to the iconic villain song “Hellfire”. But Rollo specifically cites fear and confusion, two of his villain ancestor’s greatest weapons, as helping to strengthen the spell. Devastating repercussions if the NRC students had not stopped his fire armor or “man’s red flower” in GM.)
I think Jamil's Unique Magic refers to every time Jafar used his snake shaped staff to hypnotized the Sultan (Kalim) because they have the same effect, Sultan looks at the snake's gems/eyes reflect in Jamil's magic needs the target to look at his eyes. While it might be due to a mistranslation because they sound the same, for Malleus' Unique Magic it would've been 'Fae of Maleficence' instead of Maleficent the character, which then referred to the nature of Maleficent herself, fae of evil deeds.
Snake Whisper is also a reference to how Jafar's cobra staff had the ability to hypnotize people and how he would often whisper lies into the Sultan's ear hence u.m. 'Snake Whisper'.
