Twister (1996) , the movie with an Oklahoma-like soundtrack 

The transition from the instrumental music to Van Halen is perfectly timed and couldn’t have been any better placed. Movies need to get back to standards like this.

Could watch this movie everyday for the rest of my life and never be bored

I stopped by Wakita in May of this year on my way home from Fort Worth to Minneapolis just to pay homage to Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman at the water tower.

You could power entire countries with the energy that this movie radiates

This movie inspired me as a kid and sparked a love and appreciation for weather. Now I’m studying meteorology and storm chasing. Full circle👏🏼

That helicopter descent shot onto Jonas’ convoy is one of my favorite shots ever put to film. Not to mention it was done practically. Cars drove slow as the chopper came down, then they sped it up to look highway speed.

this is one of the greatest scenes ever to be filmed, the acting, the energy, the sexual tension, the camerawork, the music, the action, the truck, the buildup, it's just so well done, I think it's probably the most underappreciated film out there, it has it all

The part with the camera going over the hills seeing the crew driving and that part of the song hits is magic.

Cannot believe this was 1996 and it's STILL a great flick. Friends of mine went down to OK and watched parts being filmed and they used helicopters to drop some of the larger debris! Still rocking in 2022!!

1:31 to 1:53 is the best music and scene collaboration I have ever seen.....gives me chills

fun fact twister was not just filmed in Oklahoma it was also filmed in Iowa ,Nebraska ,missouri ...and this woods scene to corn field was in minnesota

What's so awesome is the electric guitar with the orchestra getting you amped up and then when he says "there's a little detour, we're gonna take a walk in the woods" (which is so badass to me) followed by the hard rock song by Van Halen as they start off-roading. And the excitement they feel as they go over the bumps in the road. Makes you feel like you're on this journey with them and you feel as pumped as they are.

Scenes like this transcend the screen and feel like more than watching a movie. It feels like you're part of something important or are at least bearing witness to something monumental. I feel the same way about certain scenes in Independence Day. Bigger than a movie. It becomes more something that marks an era than a random 90-minute/2 hour movie you saw over the weekend. Other comparisons are the Delorean reveal, fight sequences in Gladiator, any 3 hour 90s movie on 2 tapes, Drew Barrymore in Scream, Bohemian Rhapsody in Wayne's World, Hasta La Vista Baby. They cease to be movie clips and just become part of your life. I dunno how else to put it!

Greatest movie, back when movies didn't have all this digital fake shit. Movies made back in the 1990's and 80's and 70's are the best

This is the exact reason that "Humans Being" by Van Halen has become my storm chasing anthem. Leaving tomorrow on a 4 day storm chase through the midwest, can't wait to crank this song, (look for it to be in the background in the videos I am sure to post, lol)

I hope Melissa kept in contact with Dusty, when she was crying he was holding the Umbrella for her feeling sad, heard something deep over the radio. He showed compassion to her and definitely needed this kind of lively man in her life. Hope we get her as a cameo in the sequel visiting Jo and they mention stories of bill and dusty

We need another Twister movie, but even more extreme. Maybe a sequel in which an EF-5 hitting a major city

@2:03 is one of the best scenes in the movie, when the guitar starts playing and it shows the Dodge ram coming in. I always loved that part

The soundtrack is epic. You can feel the suspense

I didn't know who the band was when I watched this in the theater but when Van Halen kicks in it's amazing.

One thing that I always enjoyed about this scene other than the phenomenal cinematography and music, is the characterization of both convoys of vehicles. Jonas' convoy looks very strict to form and each car looks nearly identical to the last, giving it a very "serious business", sort of look with no room for personality to show. Makes sense as he is the main antagonist of the movie, besides the tornadoes themselves of course. Then there is the stark contrast of Jo and Bill's convoy, where each vehicle looks unique, colorful and visually more interesting in general. There's a clearer aspect of fun involved with the business here. Which fits with the cast of colorful individuals Jo and Bill's team consists of.

lol at poor Melissa, she was so totally out of her element the whole time, you could kinda feel for her. Helen and Philip had great chemistry in this film!

lol. I've been watching this movie for 16 years. Saw it 4 times in the theater and over 200 times since.

One of my favorite scenes from 'Twister'.

I used to be scared of storms thanks to a close call of a tornado touching down like a block of us kinda behind us. The funnel formed & at that moment my dad spotted the funnel shit hit the fan outside, the electric flickered on & off a few times, the gusty winds, deadly lightening, crashing thunder. I remember most of it, I just don't remember what the cloud looked like. After the funnel split, everything calmed down. We were calming down, cause we really didn't have a place to seek shelter, & it's very rare for a tornado you hit here, we have bluffs that somehow pushes the worst of the storm north & around us. The lightening went on for hours, with a dark green sky, lightening flashes brightening outside up like daytime. I was so glad you be able to go to bed & sleep then to not have a house. But that's why I was scared of storms until I was 17 & all of a sudden I overcame my fear. I love storms now, the worst the better, I'd love to chase, but I'd get myself killed in a heartbeat. It's best that I don't drive while chasing, cause I'd be trying to see the tornado, & watch my driving to save my ass.

I've always liked Jonas' truck. I've never seen a dually suburban in real live though. Apparently, those are rare trucks.

behind inceptioin this is one of my favorite movies of all time.

This legendary Movie is a little part of what made me become a full blown storm chaser for the NWS. Oh, and we have a sequel coming after 27 years. It shall be known as TWISTERS.

In today's world, Rabbit wouldn't even use the maps. He'd either use a GPS in the truck or Google Maps app on a tablet or iPad.

This movie is why I fell in love with trucks!
