This in-house built wooden coaster was adapted from John Allen's original plans for the Mr. Twister coaster that operated at Elitch Gardens from 1964 to 1994. Standing over 106 feet (32m) tall with a top speed of over 51 mph (83 km/h), its dual lift hills both use the same chain.
Knoebels Amusement Park & Resort is located in Elysburg, Pennsylvania.

That's why wooden coasters are the best....no gimmicks, no loop-de-loops, no inversions, just drops,curves and a lotta fun!

Twister is so good. I got to ride it in a very light rain when the track was wet and slick and it was just FLYING. We hit that last curves break run going so fast I wasn’t sure it was going to stop. Awesome ride.

I was there about 11 years ago. Knoebels would have made a great home park; free parking, no admission fee, good food, ride whatever you want without feeling like you absolutely have to pack in as many rides as possible to make going there worth it. If only it had been a little closer.

I hear houses are cheap in the area ;) I'm lucky enough to live about 1.5 hours away, so it's not super far. My friend and I try to visit twice a year. If you're ever able to come again, I hope you do! They have opened some new rides in the last decade.

Good to see I’m not the only one who thinks this. It feels like you’re gonna fly off the track at some points, the layout is pure chaos, and the headchoppers are countless.

Love this ride so much, and it was running the fastest/smoothest I've ever ridden during PPP last year, probably right around when you filmed this. Gotta love a park that knows how to take care of a wooden coaster.

My girlfriend and I visited the park for the first time last year the same day PPP was happening, and were just blown away with their two woodies and the park in general. The country needs more parks like Knoebels.

My friend and I try to visit Knoebels twice a year. This past spring (2024) we camped in tents right next to the Twister. I heard them walking the track and hammering when I got up. I went to the fence and spoke to one of the workers when he came nearby, and he said they check the coasters _every day._ I always knew Knoebels was a very safe park, but now I have proof.

@@mhtube01 Truthfully I find this more lappable than Phoenix. On a typical day, I might ride Twister at least three times, but only maybe one or two rides on Phoenix. Maybe it's just my preference for Twister's lapbars vs. Phoenix's buzz bars, or the fact that Phoenix tends to have longer waits, or the fact that Twister II at the second Elitch Gardens was my first wooden roller coaster.

The care they put into the rides is great. A worker told me they check the coasters daily. If you get up early and go nearby, you can hear them hammering and see them walking the track.

The twist, turns, and drops this coaster has look fantastic. I love how the track goes inside the wooden structure so much, too! Plus, that shot at the beginning where another train rushes on by right before you leave the station is really cool.

One of the best parts about Twister is how the layout interacts with itself. There's a lot of great headchopper moments and the sensation of speed is crazy as you fly through the supports. It's a great ride.

The _Twister_ has many great features, and is a good coaster to ride. You can even get a photo afterwards, unlike on _Phoenix_ (although, like many, I prefer _Phoenix_ to this one). The park knows its limits and what will work for the space available. This was filmed during a busy day, because they were running both cart colors. On slow days they only run one set (usually Purple, I think).

Either these Knoebels parks videos were filmed in October or it's just always on my vibe of Halloween everyday. I don't really like huge roller coasters but I'd think I'd really enjoy this one because it's got a lot of banked turns and I adore banked turns coasters because I don't feel like I'm falling off the face of the Earth.

My friend and I already took our spring trip. Paratrooper and Flume were closed, but we got to ride many other favorites, including Twister. I hope you can come this year!
