Love these two people. They both have an old school charm to them I can relate to in a sense. I feel like plaintiff was loaning out all that money cause she maybe wanted something more than a friendship with defendant. Especially with how she said he took her to olive garden vs her taking him to city island. Basically comparing how much is spent on each other. And defendant knew this so he got alot of money from her to help himself out real quick. Not maliciously but basically, just quick and easy money to pay back slowly

I live in Canada, and lottery winnings are 100% tax free, paid as a lump sum. Lottery and prize winnings don't have a " windfall tax " on them, you just get 100% Casino, Lottery, Sweepstakes, Game Shows, Contests, whatever. It kind of hurts a bit that you get taxed on your winnings in the states, I heard that when Oprah gave everyone a car, a lot of people had to pay income tax on it, something like 30% of the car, and it's really unfair - a lot of " winners " had to give it up.

Plaintiff is a trusting soul and definitely no rube, very smart of her to protect her interest and look out for herself. Why in so many comments people are say she was trying to buy his affection? When judge asked they both answered the same to her inquiry, not really . When people get older most just really seek companionship, many reasons for this , friends and family pass on, people lose touch, and so on. It doesn’t always has to be romantic or sexual just good company with someone your age . It’s certainly better then sitting at home waiting for the inevitable .

She should have never taken that lottery ticket. At 2500, the IRS will want their cut for taxes. So while she gives him 700 back, she'll have to pay taxes on the full 2500. So she'll be out hundreds when tax comes. Even if she forgot to pay 1 year, they can pop up years later telling her she owes them. In my state, they charge a tax rate of 24% on lottery ticket winnings. So she would owe over 600 in taxes. And I bet the IRS eventually asked for it.

I hate when people borrow large quantities of money (unfortunately, it's usually men that do the borrowing or begging), and the one that gives never gets back.
