Twitter Space Interview: Sistas & Zatima Star Devale Ellis Defends Zac's Recent Behavior 

Devale really stood up for his character without making excuses. I appreciate how he OWNED the character’s flaws and all and married the plots to real life situations. This is absolutely Hands down the best interview ever!!!! It was great to listen to-thanks for making it all happen Jeremy, you did a fantastic job‼️ Kudos🎉

Fatima has traumatic experiences that she needs to heal from. Fatima has never opened up to Zac about her past life with Ian. Fatima needs to check herself with the friends she choose to talk her business and Zac need to rethink his friends as well. No matter I ride with Zac any day!!!!!❤❤

Jeremy this interview was E-V-E-R-YTHING!!!!!! Mad i couldnt experience it live because im not a Twitter person but sooo happy you uploaded this to your RU-vid. Listen, since the season started i have been tired of this show already. Hearing Devalle give insight is exactly how i was feeling. I hate how the back and forth with Karen keeps going and her having hope like he's in love and she still has a chance is on my nerves but no relationship is prefect and relationships are tested. So i get it! l love how he described Fatima's character. I absolutely agree!!! I hate how she always walks away and go talk to other people and expresses how she feels instead of talking to the main source which is Zac. Nobody can fix their relationship but Zac and Fatima. Fatima acts as if Zac only has issues which he does but she has some flaws too. Like in Zatima, she went behind his back about the therapist when i feel they both can use some. Her family issues arent as deep as Zac but its some there with her trying to live up to her mom standards instead of being herself and loving who loves her. A relationship is a union between 2 and Fatima character walks away alot when she should be expressing to Zac what is disrespectful to her and their union. Although i understand he has history with Karen, he is engaged and he should always consider his new union feelings over his past relationship. So i truly enjoyed the interview. It was a great interview yesterday I wanted to come on and talk sooooooo bad. I understood some points but I also seen some blame everybody has to take accountability. I’m not just team Zac nor am I just team Fatima I’m team take accountability for your actions in it

Karen don’t want zac she don’t want Fatima with him.

First of all, the interview was good. I will have to agree about that picture scene with Karen and Zac in the salon, I did take up for Zac that Fatima should have listened and trusted Zac when he said look at the angle, I believe that Fatima should have believed him. I definitely said on all my comments I couldn't understand why Zac had to sleep on the couch because he was in a fight with Aaron. But, I am sorry I couldn't have been on the live with my questions, I always loved the fact that Zac told Karen that he loved her, but was in love with Fatima, however, it's one thing to treat Karen that way after thinking she could have died in the fire (if he didn't have a fiancé), but when Zac cried telling Fatima in season 5 that he watched her how she watched Karen and when a man hurts a woman, he tries to fix it, he (Zac) can't fix this. Meaning, Zac couldn't fix the fact that Karen was pregnant; so that proves that Zac does know when things are wrong with Fatima and loves her enough to know how she's feeling and what she is dealing with, he's not stupid even with his emotional tramas. He could fix the things he can fix, by doing the one thing Fatima kept asking him, which is to remember we are in this together. Through all the Hayden drama, the past with Karen's drama, the woman with the stock tip, (which Devale explained it shouldn't take a woman days to process something, but Zac couldn't talk to Fatima about the woman that gave him the stock tip, so it means that sometimes a person does need time to process before discussing things) they always rode together, so I feel if he had talked to Fatima about his feelings about why he acted that way towards Karen, instead of disregarding her feelings, this may have helped Fatima deal with things. After all Fatima had asked Zac during the time Karen was in the hospital (with issues with the pregnancy) did he want to go because she didn't want Karen hurting and Zac said no, we are on a different level and she has Pam and her Mom; Fatima said but it could be your baby, and Zac said the baby could also be Aaron; in the end Zac didn't go. I brought this up because, therefore he could have been more considerate of Fatima and her feelings because Fatima has always been there for Zac. So that shouldn't have been on Fatima to understand Zac's crazy emotion. In fact, I believe that Fatima was very mature not to go off on Zac at the fire scene with everybody there upset about Karen. I believe that Zac should have said Karen, Fatima just walked in and I need to talk to her, instead of acting like he was hiding something, and asked about running her bat water as if all of that hadn't happened, and he knew she felt a certain way because by then every one had told Zac about how Fatima was looking, so he knew she was upset, so he should have talked about the problem at hand, not act like everything was everything. I still say that this additional drama was added to create the controversy that's being discussed, it was definitely unrealistic that Zac wouldn't have regarded Fatima's feelings in this. It's his fiancé and no matter what his past is, Fatima has been in his corner helping him and holding him down and morally he should have known to consider her his woman's feelings. Real Talk! Also, in season 5, Fatima started praying more, trying to deal with things on a mental and spiritual 'zen' thing so she didn't whip somebody's ass, so that's why Fatima changed in season 5.

This was an awesome show that was highly needed. We really needed some clarification as to why Zac is acting the way he has been acting 🙏🏾

This platform with Devale gave me life, I gained a better perspective of the flawed characters. I even had to admit Saint Fatima is flawed as well 😞I really enjoyed this. Now I can watch the show with better clarity; and applaud their individual and collective growth.

I absolutely enjoyed this interview and debate. The post poignant points for me had to do with trying to understand why characters do what they do and giving grace. If we do that in real life, we’d have a better world. Unfortunately, we too are flawed and react initially based on our feelings/flaws. I want to enjoy Zatima’s relationship so it’s difficult to watch the dysfunctional parts. But I bounce back and keep watching. Bravo Jeremy, Devale, Cam and all the callers. I definitely enjoyed this!!

Very true I get it but Karen in her head thinks Zac wants her back and how he truly feels about her. I get what Devale is saying and he can’t control Karen’s perceptions but he has to make sure she understands that they aren’t going any further then just we are cool

He's trying to right his wrongs the wrong way. In doing so he's disrespecting his partner. All the extra is not required he's caressing Karens face, hair, hugging her holding hands thats to much. Its not enough past drama in my life that'll make me disrespect my current partner. Fatima deals with his baggage and fighting for his heart which seems to be with Karen. I hear him explaining and it sounds good but I'm not buying it. Tyler is gonna try to clean up Zac's actions by using a terrible scene in Zatima😂 Anything not to hold Zac accountable for his actions. In real life your actions speak louder than words. I used to like Zac but he switched on me😂 I'm team Tima all day. He doesn't even acknowledge the pain he caused🤦‍♀️ Nobody wanna hear your reasons for making them feel like crap neglecting them, embarrassing them and selfishly disregarding their feelings. Karen made it clear that she didnt want him several times....Zac has to take a step back and realize he made the decision to be in a relationship, if he wanted to get himself together in the manner that he says and enjoy being single with his money, Fatima gave him an opportunity to do so right before he purposed. U can't jeopardize your relationship trying to balance the 2, 3, 4 and 5. Focus on whats infront of u Zac! Be a better person for yourself and Fatima. Leave the past in the past no excuses.

I wish these ladies had more of a rebuttal. Devale did an amazing job explaining Zach’s character. However, what was missing was the accountability of Zach’s boundaries. Play nice does not mean hugging her, keep throwing his money at her and saying he loves her, bc obvious she’s plotting to get him back. I am a Fatima fan and I hate that she’s runs away and taking too much time process situations and pick and choose when she wants to communicate. However, while she processing this Karen situation, apparently Zac wouldn’t be able to hear it. Pam, Andi, and Rodeo told him his action and he’s still oblivious. Point is Zach is flawed however he needs to learn boundaries. It’s not just Karen, it’s Connie and Deja too.

The proposal was too soon Zac really doesn’t want to lose Fatima so again he’s trying to fix things without dealing with his own inner issues

Different events trigger different emotions. I have had many tragedies in life and everytime I feel I healed from one thing anything happens and opens up any wound that I THOUGHT I was healed from. Unfortunately when we see others we want them to move on and show us healing strength and what we want to see and have in our own lives our way! Learning to listen to understand and to response is essential in all relationships.

The problem with this show is, it is on at the same time as Zatima! The time line confuses everything. Fatima is dealing with everything in real time because it has been presented by Zac past and future. If the shoe was on the other foot, would Zac feel the same way?

This was so crazy to me because Devale is defending Zac’s behavior while in the same breath saying him as a man wouldn’t even think to do half of what Zac is doing…it’s a way to go about things and Zac isn’t choosing the right way. But also is it fair to justify his behavior because his backbone is taking a break with the communication?

Devale is very diplomatic with these answers !!!

Jeremy, that was a great interview, I wish I could have been handing Luna some notes, they would be few, because she did a great job. Devale was a great sport for taking the questions, but there are some things that I have questions. When Zac said he took Fatima out of an apartment, and put her in a highrise, I didn't feel that was accurate. Fatima owned her apartment which would make it a condo, and he begged her to sell it, thank god she didn't. Another thing about her moving, When they had that argument about him and Deja. He told her to leave the keys, meaning to the townhouse and car, that when Fatima said she could make a call and get two just like it. He then threw it up in her face that it was his house when she told him to sleep on the couch, not to mention that Fatima wanted to put something in that townhouse to make her feel more comfortable, because even though before he moved he asked her to decorate it, even her mother said the place didn't look like her, so what does that mean he put her in a highrise, but actually it was a townhouse that belonged to him. I wished Luna would have asked Devale, did Karen ever tell him that it was a possibility that Aaron could be the father also, and in omitting that fact to him make him feel more obligated by thinking that he alone was that baby's father. Also when they were at the law office, and Fatima walked away, he asked Andi did Fatima talk to her about little Michael, why didn't he do it? He was on his way to meet Karen at the salon to talk about fixing it. The salon was not going anywhere, so was going to meet Karen more important than him talking to Andi about his son?, and by asking that question, was he saying that he delegating Fatima to handle the matter of his son while he handle the matter of making Karen happy. I had more, but maybe these questions could be asked of him in the future. Again great interview.

I enjoyed listening to this entire commentary. I loved how Devale explained how he wanted to the humanize Zach's character and for the viewers to be able to see Zach's flaws and brokeness and yet extend Zach a little empathy and grace. I am definitely team Zach. While I do enjoy watching Devale's portrayal of Zach on Zatima and Sistas, I find that all of characters are equally flawed and broken as well. Great exchange of point of views.

Somebody please help me Zac said he was worried that the woman carrying his baby might be dead. Ok when he found out she was not dead not one time did he ask about the baby is the baby ok and still has not ask. You are leading her own what is this about the biscuit we use to eat she is leaving in a different world. Zac before you fall out behind a baby you think might be yours go and get a DNA of your own.

I really hate that Tyler allows Karen to play with Fatima's relationship, I am about to stop watching as I feel he shows black women as beyond vulnerable

I hate how Devale is going along with this as though the things that are being portrayed as Zac doing to either of these two women has an acceptable excuse. He is sending mixed signals to Karen and he has blatantly disrespected Fatima for some old feelings that he supposedly has for Karen. We know that Fatima will accept his Bullsh.t and Karen will get hurt so why even invest the time in trying to defend the character Zac when we all know what the outcome is and who is the cause. Stop pretending like Zac's childish ways are acceptable because he has had a hard life. We get it Zac had it hard but that actually should have made Zac grow up if he had taken some accountability for his life and utilized life lessons that he encountered he might have grown but instead Tyler Perry has Zac stuck in a make believe world where he is still throwing tantrums when things don't go his way and there are no excuses for that. For me it's so obvious that Tyler Perry is making Zac the sounding board for transferring the hate that Ebony (Karen) had been getting and now having Zac's erratic behavior become the object of hate therefore having the viewership become more sympathetic, compassionate and understanding as to why Karen is the way that she is. However Devale's defense makes Zac's behavior as though it is acceptable to behave in this manner towards women because Zac doesn't know what the hell is going on. Tyler Perry has Zac going from street to naive and ain't no body buying that Zac don't realize with intent what he is doing because his past behaviors have shown that this is who Zac is and to pretend that Zac is caught up without relevance to what Zac is doing just makes Devale look bad for trying to defend it and make it right. Devale might be doing this to get the haters off of Ebony and as a favor to Tyler Perry but Devale needs to recognize what a character with this type of personna can do to his reputation and book sales. Sometimes it's just best to say no.

Zac only called Fatima because of what everyone was saying about him not acknowledging her and that she left. That’s when Zac called her.

Karen ruined her own chance with Zac it’s time for Zac and Karen to move on Karen down talked him she wrote a whole LETTER about how she felt, she made him feel like crap like why would he want to go back to that.

This program was Innovative and Exciting, I loved it I love sistas I can tell its TP's baby. Devale Im coming on twitter eventually we will talk. Love that Deval chimed into the conversation. Yes, Karen "got a new attitude" once Zac came into money and started "dating up" -- Fatima is the woman that Karen will never be. Karen sees Fatima and immediately sees what she missed out on and takes her anger out on Fatima for her on shortcomings. When is Fatima going to pursue law school Zac?

Devale that was a good interview and tell us about all the characters

I left my comment before I listened to the remaining interview. I can't believe after everything Fatima did for Zac, that Devale mentioned that Fatima should have still done more, however, Zac told Danni, Karen and whomever else that Fatima spoke power in him, she told him shit and he believed it and did that shit, (from chain breakers, to calling his job after getting locked for breaking in the hotel room, even putting the money on the stock tip, he said he could hear her telling him to trust his instints, when he decided to get the house she encouraged him to go with his instints), so if a woman does that for your physical and mental growth, please tell me how much more does she need to do??? As Fatima said, Zac's mom didn't do things for him, well Fatima is his fiancé not his mom, so don't expect for her to always do everything for you, without realizing she's human and she needs mental love and support as well. So, with everything Fatima has done for Zac, he could have shown more love, understanding and consideration for what she was going through with that entire scene at the salon during the fire. But all in all, I am definitely for Zac, Fatima and Micheal. I am sorry if Zac needs Karen's baby to be his child so he can be there for that baby since he wasn't there from the beginning with Micheal, (Devale 's take on what he thinks Zac wants) but he can experience that when him and Fatima get married and have a baby because i don't want Karen's baby to be his, that will keep too much drama with that triangle (Zac, Fatima, Karen)

I just wanna say one thing.l love this show It is very educational for everyone listening.... cuz Zac is on the money and Jeremy l mentioned To you 2 weeks ago about that conversation when Zac was Talking to Karen on the phone l said l was going to wait to hear the whole conversation before l judge. I said just what Zac said on your show that he love Kern but he was in love with fatrina there is a difference....❤
