To the people asking why hunt wolves? Here in Minnesota we have the largest population of wolves in the lower 48. Wolves are protected and the Deer herd is in free fall over much of the north and central parts of the state. As a land owner I saw 3 deer total in all of 2023 including deer season. And studies have proven that 1 out of 2 Moose calves is taken by Wolves so they are not able to increase. It impacts many other wildlife populations as well. I haven't seen any rabbits or other small game in several years my 80 acres is completely empty of wildlife.

Your absolutely correct, I too live in the North Central Alberta, and do hunt wolves, last year I had a pack of 11 at the time on camera, i got 2 of them that day and another one a week later, and to my disappointment they all had mange, so i stopped hunting that pack, This year we have gotten 2 so far, and they are absolutely beautiful, but at the moment I am not sure how many are with these 2. Still looking.

Amazing camera work!!😂😂 Seriously though… good work… there are WAY too many wolves in Alberta… at least where I live in the North. Can’t even call moose anymore because they are too afraid to respond. So how heavy do you think these guys were? I am really curious because most places you read that Mackenzie Valley Wolves top out at 130 lbs/ ish, but I am pretty sure there are Adult males out there running around at 150-180 lbs… what are your thoughts?
@thewhitesilence6327

I called them in mostly with howls. There are tons of wolves in Alberta but they are nocturnal and elusive. Similar to moose, there is plenty around but they just stay out of sight. In my opinion red foxes and coyotes are far more cunning then wolves.

@thewhitesilence6327

The only restrictions on ammo capacity that I know of in Alberta are when hunting game birds (grouse, ducks, etc.) where the chamber and magazine can't hold more then 3 shells, and when using a semi-automatic firearm which can't have more then 5 in the magazine I think. I only use pump action shotguns, so hypothetically I could have a 100 round drum magazine, though that would be utterly impractical.

North-central-ish Alberta. If you are looking for a place to hunt believe me there are resident populations in ALL of the big bush and foothills habitats across the province. At first I was skeptical but I have heard enough reports from reliable sources that singles and pairs are spreading across the prairies to. They come up from Montana towards the Cypress Hills, and along the Battle River from who knows where.

Why? Too many of them, or you use the fur?
@thewhitesilence6327
@thewhitesilence6327 7 месяцев назад
They are a renewable resource and I hunt deer in the area, so I try to help the deer out if I can. All of the fur will be taxidermied either locally or internationally depending on who buys it at auction. I get so much hate mail from people thinking I'm trying to eradicate wolves. They must not be from Alberta because there are large and growing populations in all forested regions of the province. Hunting only manages to skim off a portion of each years crop. With the current hunting regulations it is impossible to remove wolves from the landscape. To me its not wilderness unless there are wolves.

@thewhitesilence6327

As long as I shoot when they are beyond 20 yards the pellets will have spread out enough that there won't be any pelt damage. Wolves have some of the toughest hide I have ever seen. So, it is difficult to damage the hide under most circumstances anyways.@@alexandregh.3831

They are very abundant in our area in north central Alberta, you would be hard pressed to find anyone up here that wouldn't say that they are over abundant. You can hunt them almost year round with unlimited bag limit, and it has been that way my whole life. Yet their populations and range are only growing. Every wolf I get will end up being mounted.
