Hi Bob. The Swift Edge you looked at is very similar to our van, which is a Starfire. I noticed that inside the wardrobe were a pair of front seat pads which can be used to make up an alternative bed arrangement giving two singles and allowing a narrow gangway along the centre of the van. This is the arrangement we favour as it allows one or the other to get up and move around without disturbing the the other person.It does mean you have to find storage for two large cushions, but we manage fine with a very large over cab locker. I think you have mentioned in a previous video that you didn't particularly like this configuration, but I thought it worth pointing out to those who may be considering buying one of these. Good to see you are still putting out videos. Thanks for what you do. Take care

Swift Nice layout and easily and instantly look better with a woman's touch inside. That Malibu looked to be made solid and looks like it will last! Unlike some I've seen, but it has a premium price so you'd expect it.

I liked the design of the swift. Nice and compact, not so sure about the Malibu. It’s quite expensive for a van conversion, never know why they are always more expensive than a coach built

I think one reason is because the convertor has to buy a complete van, not just a chassis cab.

I don't know Bob maybe I am getting synicall in my middle age but having bespoke built four campers down the years and knowing how much it all cost these ready made vans and their current price tags make me shudder. I would be interested to see a vid where you pick a van and price all elements individually. Trouble is being a Master Carpenter I can't factor in my skills but my last van completed in 2013 on a Mercedes Sprinter 2010 plate all in cost me £25.000 to build and in 2017 when my illness meant I had to sell I advertised the van at offers taken. The first person who saw the van offered me £36.000 in its as new condition where I had got four years and 12,000 miles out of it made a whopping profit. I shook his hand on the spot. Ever since then I have just been amazed at how for granted people take the price and this magic £ 50.000 price tag that litters the industry. I am not out to needle anyone and cause trouble but Motorhomes have played a large part of my life and building our own was a decision taken log ago because of the cost. How do you feel about the motorhome industry what impact do you see on the supposed fossil fuels ban on the horizon. Again don't take me wrong Bob I speak as a serious motorhomer of thirty years and a fascination as to what the industry see's as the future of Motorhomes. Thanks for sharing though Bob and still enjoy your vids.

Thanks for your comments. When someone does a self build of a motorhome, generally they don't pay wages to hundreds of workers, rent or own a factory, pay corporation tax, vat and all the other overheads in a business. Self builders do it their spare time, buying the materials. I couldn't price a motorhome, how would I know how much each component costs? Not everyone has the skills or indeed the time to build their own motorhome, those that do, often go on to build a business, employ people, pay taxes, rent factories, and charge what they think people will pay for a motorhome, whilst trying to make a profit.

It always staggers me that a base Fiat van costs circa £20k, and the box attached to it is another £30k minimum!

Bob Earnshaw you hit the nail squarely on the head, do buyers want the company to be around 5 years after they bought the van or not? Profit decides whom stays or disappears.

john rocker fair point. I’d query wether the quality of Swift products deserves the high price tag though. Quality of materials, design and build quality seems poor compared to similarly priced products from the German brands and Adria.
