I'm fairly certain that they do not know that, considering how they are treating it. Also, AFAIK, there are similarities to bullseye, which is partially covered with mirrors to focus the light in a particular direction / arc (kind of like a flashlight / "torch"). But a bullseye isn't necessarily protected from the high winds and driving rains like a Tempest/Hurricane Lamp is. It can be, but it doesn't have to be.

I really hate that trope. The villain/boss leaves henchmen behind to die. Come on Cat, your surviving henchman was only 3 steps behind you,; you could've just let him lock the door after you or you had plenty of time to let him through before the Shambler appeared. And why was Algernon just standing there during that scene?

It's also possible that I've just consumed so much horror media at this point that if my cosmic horror isn't at least turned up to a solid Hastur level, it doesn't get me going anymore. What also didn't help was my imagination taking the route of "Penguins of unusual size? I don't think they exist". And so the Princess Bride ruined the whole scene for me out of hand.

Having played a ton of Call of Cthulhu (the tabletop), I can confirm that enough bullets can kill just about any non-Elder God entity. I jump-kicked a mudman to death with a fighting dude I made once, and they're, by the tabletop canon anyway, stronger than shamblers
This game clearly should've been a beat em up, with Pierce going around punching shoggoths and flying polyps in the face... or whichever part of them resembles face the most
Some Lovecraft creatures are remarkably incompetent. Like in the Dunwhich Horror when the end of the world is averted because the main bad guy gets mauled to death by a dog when he tries to break into the university. It wasn't even a particularly big dog.
I really have no issue with them bumbling around and searching for something, but it is baffling and hilarious how they retrace their steps, but only skipping the right location!
I guess this explains why Pat was self-defeatingly pointing the camera downwards during The Search- they somehow convinced themselves that the bust would be on the floor.

Isnt The Shambler non existant to those who do not veiw the painting in person? Also the painting is in a gross old cultist cave turned bootlegger cavern and i doubt any of the other bootleggers are going to go down there and get it due to the smell of about 10 rotting corpses. We did watch it kill sanders and it was "not there" and seemed to ignore the player. Im not sure why im trying to find reason in a first person point and click game.

So I was hearing voices in my head and I was like "man they put alot of detail into making you feel crazy." Then I paused the voice and the voices continued and I was like "am I crazy?" Then i realized that I'm using my wireless headphones and I live like 1 mile away from a radio tower and the voices I was hearing are infact the nighttime country radio station that turns into a rock station in the daytime (without the rap of course). And was super disappointed in the game and my own sanity...
Man, yeah, the gameplay here is not great. I was surprised this wasn't more of an open ended detective exploration game as advertised. Did they run out of time/money and have to cut what they actually wanted to do?

Call me crazy, but I can't help but question why this game's subtitles and voice acting don't match up so often or why there's really basic spelling and grammar mistakes (i.e., using "to" instead of "too", using a lower cased i when saying "you bet i will"). I don't know why, but I can't help but feel like this is the sort of game where normally there would have been more care put into it.
Yeah it makes me wonder if the tactic they discovered in the Shambler's introduction of 'don't look at him and he doesn't see you' was an actual thing or just coincidence making them think it was a thing, because there's no mention of it in that sequence at all.

I problaby sayd this before in another episode, but ill say it again: The only way were getting a GOOD Call of Cthullu game, is if its similar to the Divinity: Original Sin games (its literally a DnD computer game)... we need something like that for CoC, singleplayer games can be good, even great, but Call of Cthullu is alot better when ya have a group of friends/Allies helping you solve the investigation and delaying the eldritch horrors from taking over.

I would like to know what scene got swapped out though, since not too many scenes in Last Jedi were as bad as the casino. Do you know what replaced that scene? If not what is your opinion on the Last Jedi? I personally liked it since it tried to be less derivate than The Force Awakens. I also especially liked how they developed Luke into a sassy hermit and allowed Mark Hamill to put a ton of character into the role before giving him a big send off scene.

The thing I hate about the glyph hunting is, that the game does not show you how they look at first. If you would know they are a glowing circle on the floor, it would be easier to know what you're looking for.

I love how Matt and Pat are acting like this game was created by a AAA developer with millions of dollars at their back and not a small dev team. This game is by no means perfect, but it is in a much better state then most AAA games that came out in recent memory. Also, Matt, are you sure you have read Lovecraft? Because if you have, then most of this should be pretty obvious.
So close to the end! I had to go through this game a good couple of times for the damn platinum trophy. So watching Best Friends bumble through this is entertaining.
This entire goddamn game feels like a Call of Cthulhu tabletop campaign, but the GM forgot his script at home so he keeps having to do the whole thing from memory. As a result we end up watching a plot where only the most key points and various action sequences are strung together with only the barest implications of connecting storyline. Entire narrative sections and transitions are glossed over and barely implied, seemingly as an afterthought, and the farther we get the more disjointed everything becomes as plot devices and character arcs or even *introductions* are forgotten and hand-waved with as little reference as possible. But hey at least they're promising us a big squid boy at the end, right?
14:47 Algernon what you said there out of worry for her safety I'm sure is mute to her by now. She lost her husband and her son, and knows she can't escape hearing voices in her head and/or painting the culty things she had. So I think if she HAD her family survive, then she'd be more cautious about herself and doing all of that. But since she lost so much, she probably doesn't care if anything goes wrong because if it goes wrong in the final, she'll finally get some peace from the voices and visions. But I guess it's nice that Algernon trying to be worried maybe to keep Sarah grounded in the truth by it. But come on, she lost a lot cause of Cthulhu, I don't think she has anything else to be cautious about.

Am I allowed to not be impressed by the Leviathan's appearance or lack there of? Cause it's basically the unknown humanoid figure reused I'm pretty sure. But the voice I find impressive, but the creature itself wasn't matching the voice it has. Plus Edward did nothing when he saw the water flooding in XD So I can only think that meant that part and meeting the Leviathan was in his head and that he's nutty from all the crazy speech options XD
You really don't need any godly acursed calamari to drive these guys to insanity, huh? Tbh all you'd need to do is take them to one of those locked room puzzle houses and they'd be 100% instantly FUCKED.
So, all up between this video and the last one, it took them about 6 minutes to find the fucking statue. For comparison, Paige took 8 minutes to solve the infamous shadow puzzle. The lupus is clearly infecting Pat's brain.
