10:40 nah wrong wrong wrong. Definitely cream and moisturize the leather. Once they dry out, they'll start cracking, that's when they snap. Keep them strong and supple. Leather is skin!! Remember that people

I watched this video again last night for the second time & absolutely love that the bags bring practical enjoyment to you both. I'm a Fuji shooter & have found the smaller bags suit my gear combos & especially value the padding, comfort, weight & waterproof qualities of their bags. I am slowly building my range buying 2nd hand, I only buy when I see a great deal & it's fun waiting for them to pop up on different uk 2nd hand sites. So far I have Hadley Digital, S3, F1.4, Hadley Pro, Avea 3 & 5 all mint 2nd hand for total cost 400 GBP. I think I've done well :)). The Hadley Small is proving a tricky one to get the deal I want & seeing Lara's 335 I'm thinking 1 large one that can haul all my bodies & lenses from point to point on a road trip. The search continues !!!

I glad I found this video. I too am a bit of a Billingham fan. Almost two decades ago, at the beginning of my photography hobby I went to BH and one of the salespeople recommended Billingham bags. I took one look at them and said "Sorry, too pretentious, not for me". Fast forward about a decade and I ended up with six bags (no backpack "yet"). I do have both of you "beat" though because I have the Packington in black. I use it as a travel bag. The removeable insert fits perfectly a USPS Leather Satchel. Billingham products are difficult to find in the US recently. Even before the pandemic, it took BH almost one year before they received any new shipments of inserts from Billingham. I can't image how difficult these would be now with the global supply chain disrupted.

Wow - Martin Billingham used to be one of my customers way back. Currently have 4 bags, did have as many as 7. Just love the quality and workmanship. Have introduced my photography mad (Leica /Fuji shooter) Son to them and he's as keen on them as I am 😎😎😎

445 indeed. I have mind and for bigger shoots, these days, I tend to use my Olympus backpack to carry everything to wedding then use my Hadley One when I get to the venue.

OH MY! I had the small pro on my list for Christmas, but after watching this and seeing you with your Billingham in action, I can't wait. I can also say that at least three of these are on my list now, but I for sure want to start with the small pro and maybe the 72(?). Thanks for sharing this video...I know it's long, but the stories shared as a part of reviewing these bags is exactly what I enjoyed! Cheers!

One tip I found for cleaning, if you want to, is to use talcum powder and leave it for 24 hours, dry, before washing it off. It doesn't work on every stain but can be useful. I maintain the leather with Chamberlains Leather Milk No.3. It is quite thick and you can put it on with your fingers.

Billingham Bag Nutters - great. Thanks for this chat and discussion of te various bags. Do 9 Bags qualify? Two Hadley Digitals, two 72, one S2, one Galbin, one Hadley Small Pro, one Airline Stowaway and a Thomas Briefcase with matching Umbrella of course. Soon I will buy another Hadley Digital as I like to keep cameras living in a bag and not change them around a lot. I enjoy going on walks. My first real camera bags have been the models from KATA. Still use them today and they are very durable. If it rains, they need covers. So after a walk which ended in heavy rain, the Nikon APS-C camera in the bag was a little moist. That's why I went looking for an alternative and Billingham was the best solution. No covers needed at any time, no zips which stay open and allow moisture inside and the internal flap is great in any weather, e.g. snow. By the way, your channel and those of Robin Wong and Peter Forsmark got me to look closer at Olympus cameras. Now I have a M10 Mk III, a M5 Mk III and a blue EPL9. Still use Canon and Nikon APS-C cameras, but meanwhile one of the Olympus cameras join me wherever I go. The Galbin Bag with the EPL9 is easy to take along no matter what the occasion. Thanks for your great content.

As a dedicated single travel bag for long weekend. In other words I will only be packing a one bag to take with me. Which bag would you recommend the Hadley Pro or the Hadley One?
@Red35Photography
@Red35Photography 3 года назад
That solely depends on what you want to carry. Pro and One only different in size. Pro is larger, better for bigger gear or want to hold a laptop. One is pure camera day pack, best suited for M43/rangefinder type camera with a couple of lenses.
@shepleonard8695
@shepleonard8695 3 года назад
@@Red35Photography I am solely looking for a travel bag only no camera quit mint or anything. I want a single bag that I can use for 2 to 4 days of travel and I can't figure out if I need the Hadley One or the Hadley Pro. I will not be carrying a laptop 90 percent of the time. It's just whenever you look at the dimensions of these bags the Hadley One seems to be the bigger of the two and I just want someone with experience and hands on with both bags to give their opinion.
@Red35Photography
@Red35Photography 3 года назад
@@shepleonard8695 Base on what you said, you may still use the bag to carry a laptop, if the size is below 13inch, then Hadley One is better, it has more room for that, though I think Hadley one comes with only half insert and if you intend to use it all for camera, you may need the full length insert which will cost extra. Hadley Pro is smaller and will not fit laptop, but ok for an iPad, yet it does come with a full length insert that can house a full frame camera with one extra lens (two or three depends on size of them on and off camera). I would not be able to recommend unless I know what camera or lenses you may want to carry as each can vary significantly in terms of size.
@shepleonard8695
@shepleonard8695 3 года назад
@@Red35Photography I will not be using the bag as a camera or computer bag. No cameras, no computers. Only as 'luggage". I normally only travel with 1 bag. Which bag, Hadley One or Hadley Pro would you recommend as a dedicated "THE ONLY BAG YOU PACK". Again thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. 🙏🙏🙏
@Red35Photography
@Red35Photography 3 года назад
@@shepleonard8695 I get you, Hadley One it is, bigger for you to hold stuff unto 4 days. Hadley Pro is smaller and possible good for one or two days max.

Beautiful and well-crafted bags. That said, you (both) need a camera bag detox! You don't NEED all those bags, that is an ADDICTION! Some are serving the exact same purpose. Why don't you sell the old ones when buying a new one? Just a though and personal opinion, that you're going to ignore...
@Red35Photography
@Red35Photography 6 лет назад
😂😱 Luisa!!! You are absolutely right!! It has become an addiction and indeed, a few bags that I no longer taking out and now becomes a 'storage' for my camera equipment. It's a bad habit.... umm... but I guess we all like something in life :) Having said that, I prefer taking amazing photos than collecting bags but it's Billingham... ok, enough said... I am trying not to ignore what you said. Time will tell and hope I won't do another video like this in 5 years time and have more of them!
6 лет назад
In the video, you said that you didn't have the money to buy Billingham bags as a student. Perhaps today there are other photography students that wish to have one also and don't have the money too. Why don't you offer one of yours? They will appreciate the gesture and the story of the bag (your usage of it). Letting go is liberating and you could make new friends along the way. Just a thought...

Billingham look great but as camera bags there are better out there for way less.
@Red35Photography
@Red35Photography 6 лет назад
I agree but yet, from my experience, they do last a lot longer than any other brands that I’ve used before. Waterproofness never suffers even when the bag looks really tired and worn.
@huwjones5879
@huwjones5879 6 лет назад
Billingham do last a long time, I have one its ancient! But compared to the cost of keeping up with camera technology, the cost of camera bags is small, so longevity doesn't really matter too much in the grand scheme of things. Waterproofing? I've Lowe Pro bags that keep the water out. Generally enjoy the channel though, glad you are not as click-bait driven as most of them on RU-vid.
