Marvin is so adorable. My kitty, Tekkie, always takes over “my” spot: my seat on the couch, my pillow before I can go to sleep. Going into the bath is a new one. But that’s cats - always doing something new. 😻🥰
I think it may be proof of people who are cat lovers. We know that a cat can always surprise you. It all depends on the individual cat. You have to live with them before you realise their secrets. It develops over time. That may also apply to other animal breeds too not just cats. Gotta love those animals

It’s not the majority but it is common. It’s so common that I’ve known it all my life and I only had one cat (who hated water) and I was born before the internet existed! I imagine it depends on their genetic preferences. In tropical areas getting wet can be lifesaving and in freezing ones it’s deadly. Cats, including mountain lions, tigers, and Siamese and other domestic cats, are frequently water loving cats. Cats are mammals who like most mammals are taught many of their life skills (how to kill prey, what prey not to hunt), so there’s that, too. Being a mammal also explains why humans and other mammals form bonds and why it is not a stereotype that cats and dogs don’t get along: everybody knows they can and often do. These cats are not stereotype breakers, they are in a well known minority.
The Cat in my thumbnail Olly, absolutely loves the water as well. He turns 2 on January 20th. We noticed he liked dunking his head under the tap and whatnot. But one evening my husband had drawn himself a bath, and got distracted on the phone. When I went into the bathroom looking for him, I found Olly swimming around in there chasing his paws around under the water. We got him a little paddling pool for Christmas. We plan setting it up on the ‘catio’ m. It hasn’t even hit 30 degrees c this summer yet. Hopefully it will be warm enough for them soon. Happy New Year everyone ❤ from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
