They're professionally trained members of a country-based but VERY wide-ranging a capella group. I won't say they have no genre limits--but, boy, that's close. Rob, (glasses, beard, Pavarotti aura) trained in opera in college, among other music training. Austin (skinny-mini pseudo-Jesus with the somewhat more Broadway voice) trained in musical theater. The rest of their group is in large part similarly trained and skilled. Their home-base is country. Their love appears to just be good music, and the joy of expanding their skill-set. All five appear to be truly lovely guys working together as an amazingly fun, friendly, supportive team. I can't recommend sampling them highly enough: they offer everything from purely silly goof-ball to gospel to classical hymns to the occasional spoof pastiche to Broadway, to Disney, to old-timey classics to blues to R&B to...whatever they decide to do next. Here's the thing: what they do, they do kindly and with love. Not that they can't goof around, but--I never expected Rob and Austin to be less than determined to give the best on this, or to spoof it. They titled it "two country singers try singing opera" because they're trained enough to hope to do it justice, and humble enough to know that even Rob hasn't done it for years and years. But i knew going in that even if they decided to do it in a country vernacular, it would break your heart. Because they just do NOT take something and abuse the music. They just don't. Or if they do, ever, in private, or if they feel they failed a piece badly, I am pretty much convinced they would not release it. Not until they could do it well enough to honor it, no matter how light and silly or how profound and moving.

If you'd like to see Rob & Austin sing country along with their band mates, I highly recommend Man of Constant Sorrow, they're the tenors from the a capella band Home Free. They have close to 200 videos on RU-vid, & from several different genres, however this is their first opera attempt, which they nailed IMHO. Home Free's fans are called Home Fries, & if you continue to explore our guy's, I promise you'll start to get a lot more views from them alone. Great reaction, will be watching for your next HF reaction, take care. 🍟

The "Trying To Sing Opera" -- they were quite nervous how Nessun Dorma would be received. Rob (The Beard & glasses) hadn't sang opera in 15 years and Austin (long curly reddish hair) studied musical theater. As others have pointed out, they're part of the country a capella group Home Free. They may call themselves "country," but they can (and do) sing all genres. Listen to Man Of Constant Sorrow (bluegrass), End Of The Road (R&B), When A Man Loves A Woman, Brothers In Arms (rock), Go Rest High On That Mountain (country, gospel), Helplessly Hoping (folk), Sea Shanty Medley, Folsom Prison Blues (country), Brother (CCM), finally, after you know the singers & their vocal roles, Mayday (country). For a taste of their humor, The Butts Remix/ Medley. The rabbit hole 🕳 is deep!

You can't fully appreciate this until you hear them as they "usually" sound when they sing with their a capella group, Home Free. Check out Man of Constant Sorrow to start with and you'll hear both Rob and Austin "be" country singers. Home Free has many videos out covering a wide genre of musical styles (country to rock to religious). Austin has his own music channel, this one came out on Austin's own channel. Austin is the one with the longer hair, Rob the one with glasses.

These two guys are the tenors of the five man country acapella group Home Free. Country actually is misleading because they sing all genres. HF won the fourth season of the Song Off, the season after Pentatonix. (their performances there are worth checking out) Rob, the guy with the glasses, is their low tenor. Austin, the skinny guy with long hair, is the group's high tenor. Tim Foust, the group's bass, has a five octaves range. Adam Chance is the bass/ baritone. Adam Rupp, the original co-founder of the group, is a tenor and beat boxer. He is considered one of the best best boxers in the world. Home Free recorded a new wonderful version of the classic American Pie with Don McLean. They recorded with Kenny Rogers who sought them out for a Christmas song,"Children Go Where I Send Thee.". They have a video with the Oak Ridge Boys singing their hit "Elvira.". They were also asked by Diana Ross, one of their fans, to perform for her seventieth birthday. They were the opening act for Reba MacEntire where they received a standing ovation. They have performed at the Grand Old Opry. Some of their songs that you night be interested in are "Brothers in Arms," "Helplessly Hoping,""Man of Constant Sorrow," "Mayday,""Sea Shanty Medley," "End of the Road," "How Great Thou Art.". Their more humorous songs are "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget," "Honey I'm Good,". "Quarantine," and the "Buttz Medley or Remix.". This is just scratching the surface of their numerous videos. Also, there are some videos of their live shows that highlight their humor and showmanship.

This is 2 of the members of Home Free, the best, in my opinion, acapella group out there. There are many acapella groups out there but the top 3 are Pentatonix, Home Free and VoicePlay. Pentatonix is more Pop/Synth based, Home Free is country/blues based and VoicePlay is Theatrical based. Home Frre known for tight harmonies, singing all genres, being good citizens and just humble good people. They sing many songs of a serious nature, as well as songs with a funny flair..The vocal percussionist, Adam Rupp, and the bass, Tim Foust, are the best there is as a rhythm and percussion section...the other member is Adam Chance, called "Chance" who is a baritone/bass and replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder of the group with his brother Adam) in 2016. Chance can cover bass when Tim has a lead, and has a 4 octave range. Tim Foust is a true Basso Profundo and has a 5+ octave range. Austin Brown is the groups high tenor and Rob Lundquist is the tenor with the silky soulful voice. You put all 5 together and the quality of harmony, sound and percussion is unmatched.

I think the title of the video was either sarcastic or in case it wasn't received well. Austin (lyric tenor) is a country boy from south Georgia, Rob is a city boy, but the only reason the band Home Free called themselves a country band was to stand out in a TV competition for a capella groups that they won. . Rob studied opera 15 years ago but has done nothing with it since. Austin studied music theatre on full scholarship. To hear the full abilities of the full band, try Brothers in Arms or Helplessly Hoping. Austin also has his own YT channel with covers of all genres and his own originals, including a stunning cover of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. I don't know how you'd calculate the odds of finding two such voices in one band (and their bandmates are damn good too), except that they were each struck by the other's voice the first time they met, working on a cruise ship, 10 years ago. They always sound fantastic together, as you can hear on the band's cover of Moonshine (a great favourite of mine), which Austin arranged to give him and Rob the second harmonised verse.

They do many different genres and achieve a more than respectable performance no matter what genre they choose, they are fire. For fun, I suggest the "Butts Remix (Medley), for jaw dropping precision I would recommend "Helplessly Hoping", For pure Country "Hillbilly Bone", for a real change of pace Boyz2Men cover "End of the Road". Want Blue Grass "Man of Constance Sorrow". If you are feeling patriotic the most striking is "Brothers in Arms"(Be sure to have a Kleenex or two in reach. Want to hear the incredible range of the bass and baritone singers check out "Mayday" (hint the tenor first solo singer in this is the same person who takes the first lead in "Brothers in Arms" If you want a mega dose of love for country, they did a feature with Lee Greenwood of "God Bless the USA" And finally the late great Country icon, Kenny Rogers asked them to partner with him for a gospel song "Go Tell It on the Mountain". If your toe ain't tappin' by the end of this video, check your pulse, because you may have passed to the other side. Hope you have as much fun with Home Free as the members have singing for you and we Home Fries have while watching them. You are about to fall into the HF rabbit hole. 😊

Yes please, just listen to the group Home Free they are part of. For me the best a cappella group there is. Officially they do country, but they can really sing anything. All 5 have different beautiful voices with their own specialties, they have no egos, no rivalry and true brotherhood. They see which voice best suits a particular song. Not to mention the very best beatboxer/vocal percussionist/vocal artist they have. You will be surprised how good they are. Also how Rob Lundquist's voice (with glasses) is so different there, but still very beautiful. That's why when I heard this from them I was perplexed. I find this insane. This is so good. Especially Rob's voice here is so rich, so warm and powerful. It is also great by Austin Brown, but still recognizable if you know Home Free.

Rob and Austin are part of the “a cappella” group Home Free. They won the 4th season of the NBC show the Sing Off. And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so fucking doomed. We'll save you a chair. You're about to be buried in Home Fries. Rob Lundquiat and Austin Brown are tenors in the a capella vocal band Home Free. Your next listen should probably be Man Of Constant Sorrow. It will give you a good overview of the men and their voices. Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks. God bless ‘em. All the men can beat box, but Adam is in a league of his own. He's a two-time world champion and there're good reasons he's called a "Freak of Nature" and “the man who swallowed a drum kit.” For more of Adam's incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete's sake), his no-monica solo on Working For A Living and Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up (that video is on Facebook), and his drum solos. For more of Tim's seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). For Chance's smooth baritone, check out Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome. A basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. For Rob's smooth soul, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain't Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) For Austin's soaring tenor, check out Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he'll sing you right out of it.) For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget. For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam's arrangement. Nothing else like it.) For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne. For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female. For more of their wonderful collaborations, check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late Kenny Rogers, or Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For with Peter Hollens. Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video. After Mayday, you'll be ready for Tim and Austin doing My Maria or Tim's mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. Don't miss their official videos. The Home Free men will often do a straight, gorgeous vocal performance, but they'll add elements of humor to the video that will leave you chuckling or even laughing out loud. (Folsom Prison Blues, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Working For A Living, Brother). Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don't just own a cover, they upgrade it.” You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.

We fans are referred to as home fries and are the best and most loyal fans out there. If you do decide to go down the Home Free rabbit hole i will gladly sub and come along for the amazing ride. I will be watching to see if you do more from Home Free.

Group: Home Free Members: Austin Brown (high tenor) Rob Lundquist (main tenor) Adam Rupp (beat boxer world Champion 2 consecutive years!) Adam Chance [ he goes by Chance since there are 2 Adams] (baritone/sometimes bass) Tim Foust (BASS sometimes tenor. Tim's the best there is!) All these guys are considerate, feeling, they love their fans and their reactors! They know they owe a lot to us home fries and to people that react to their music. As you can see from the comments, I don't think there is one bad comment just masses of people letting you know you won't go wrong with Home Free. / Man of Constant Sorrow ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ew_bfFvros.html NO, Adam Rupp doesn't have a harmonica in his hands. / Brother ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GjkO1EN2Ne0.html / Adam Rupp's drum solo ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EanKWLUaDpg.html (from 2015) / Brothers In Arms ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_ChD2WjD2tY.html / Sea Shanty ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lLGLUSzzuWU.html / Colder Weather ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QtPkRkVjydA.html / Boys ll Men End of The Road ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--lCRFAFtj-A.html / In The Blood ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a1TqpH6PZBo.html / My Church ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q5ubZfnKAN4.html / Bless The Broken Road / ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3wGB7SXThFQ.html I could keep going but I'm getting tired and I'm going to sleep soon. They probably put "try" in the title because it's not their genre that they usually sing and don't want to disrespect career opera singers in any way. But it did turn out awesome and it amazed their followers and listeners for sure.

They are the high and low tenors from the acapella group Home Free. They sing all genres of music. Try the Butts Remix for some comic country, or Country Roads for a kore serious one.

These are 2 of 5 + arranger = Home Free. Long list of songs. They released a ton of songs during the pand.... Many genres. Soul, R & B, country. Rob's been labeled 'Gospel Rob'. Pre- May 2016 Chris Rupp; post - Adam Chance. Round out with great bass, Tim Faust and Chris' brother Adam. Pick one!

You might check them out singing American Pie. Try their CSN song cover of "Helplessly Hoping", or their cover of "Mayday", sung in the same key (high) as the original female singer. Cam. You could also try their absolutely wonderful version of Vince Gill's "Go rest high upon that mountain". Other good ones are their mash up of Country Songs, 'Country Medley" and "Its in the Blood" ... all top notch. Oh, and a shameless plug for my *other* favorite Acapella group, Voiceplay. Check out their Fantasia like take on Peer Gynte's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" music. All voice. And also Voiceplay's wonderful Skyrim riff on "Dragonborn Comes"... def. you ears will be thrilled...

For those of use that follow these guys and are ardent fans of their group, Home Free, this came as a big shock. We were all surprised and overwhelmed by this display of their talent. Most people start with their iconic take on "Man of Constant Sorrow," but they do cover a lot of different genres. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ew_bfFvros.html

They are “trying” since they are not professional opera singers.

As much as I appreciate them for their a capella group, this does not impress me. Many of the notes are "off" and it is not a religious song. it is a love song. Singing this in a church/cathedral brings drama that is not a part of the issue. Their harmonics (as usual) are fantastic, but they need to work on this a bit.

What have you done lately, to make a few to tens of thousands of people smile? I am quite certain that as artists, they not only sing for themselves, rather they do it to bring a modicum of joy to others. If we all waited to perfect a task before we gift it,... then this world would be somewhat boring. As for the validity of the venue, (most respectfully, a church and not a cathedral) consider the fact that this opera by Puccini titled Turandot itself, like many other works of opera penned throughout the ages, was meant to tell a story - some of comedic folly, some of dark drama and some of love and all of it as a contribution to our species' culture. There is value in some of the lessons trying to be imparted. In fact, how many times have our institutes of worship been witness to other grandiose and negative events? None of us dwell in the realm of 'perfection.' I humbly submit, that the concept of 'respect', is held in high regards, even by your God. Get off your high-horse and try listening for positive emotions stirred by some of the notes gifted to you..... you may even think better of yourself. Finally, I am reminded of this most apt quote: ....... "Pearls before Swine." Matthew 7:6
