The Sale everyone has been waiting for!!! Pitzer Ranch Sale day!! Join me for an awesome sale that I have been attending since I was 10 years old. This is mostly a sale of weanling horses (foals born this year). The Pitzer Ranch raises over 300+ hundred babies every year and offers them to the public in this fall sale. What an awesome experience ☺️

That was a beautiful looking horse that you sold at the end with the dark socks.., and you really knew how to show off it's temperament. If I had been there and was looking to purchase a new horse I think I would have kept bidding on that one.. very enjoyable content!

Bye Teddy & Koda (spelling?)! I hope they get new homes that are as good to them as you were. They were both so beautiful & well trained. It must tug at your heart a little bit to say goodbye after putting so much time & energy into them & bonding with them even though it's business. The colts coming home are really cute. One of them I wish you were bringing home was that light blonde buckskin that almost appeared like a whitish buckskin in your video. I imagine you're tired. Thanks for the adventure & the experience. The new owners of Teddy & Koda got a great deal as your training is priceless. 🐎

But I can't keep getting babies if I don't sell the older ones. I thought that buckskin colt was so beautiful!! Think of it the same way a school teacher gets attached to her students but knowing they will move on. She prepares these horses for a good future where they will go to good homes and have a purpose.

That was fun! Thanks! Lots of questions! Must be difficult for you to let them go? (Being that your train them and all) Where they yours or consignment horses? Why did Koda (besides being a stunning horse and impeccably trained ) bring much more than your other 2? What was the “small cyst” relevance for Teddy? (Is that a reproductive issue? Although I though I heard he was a gelding). What are the qualities that dad looks for when buying a new foal? You’ve done good, young lady! 👏👏

So glad you enjoyed the sale day ☺️ Yes... it is hard for me to say goodbye, I just have to know that they will go to the best homes possible. I want my horses to have the best life and they deserve it. I wish I had the time and money to never sell a horse. Cisco and I owned Gunner and Teddy and Koda was owned by my Dad. Gunner was determined to be a pacer, which we did know he moved funny but then when he was confirmed a pacer it all made sense. With being a pacer and still young that discounted his price. Teddy's price reflected the cyst that he had on his leg. Koda sold for the most because of his color, talent, and his X-rays were clean. At least in my opinion those were some of the factors that affected the price. The cyst on Teddy was located on his left leg and could possible make him sore in the future. We just wanted all potential buyers to be aware of it. My dad really pays attention to bloodlines and that plays a big role in the babies he wants to buy. Then aside from bloodlines he looks at confirmation and maybe a little bit of color. ☺️ Thank you so much and I hope this answers your questions ☺️

QUESTION: Several times the auctioneer used the phrase "own daughter" or "own son". Does that have a different meaning without the word "own"?

Good question!! I do not think it would have a different meaning... I think it is mostly to emphasize that a certain colt is directly related to a certain stud or mare. Especially when the stud or mare is well known or very proven auctioneers like to emphasize that point.

I've noticed that sometimes when a mare or stallion is old enough to be commonly appearing on pedigrees as a grandsire or granddam, or even great grand, they will say "own son" or "own daughter" of so-and-so to indicate that this horse is a little more special, may have a tendency to be more talented or more like the qualities that the well known stallion or mare are known to pass on, without the dilution of 2 additional sets of genetics for grandparents. An own son or own daughter of a good mare that is now becoming aged might be your last chance to get that direct bloodline, as the mare is reaching the end of her reproductive lifespan, she may never have another foal, or the last foals she has might not ever be for sale.
