This is one of my earliest paddling trips I have done in quite a while, and was met with a barrier of ice in the bay which caught me by surprise. Especially after my girlfriend dropped me off for 3 days! Luckily I busted my way through to make it to camp safely before dark. I quickly set up my camp and was treated to some great shows ` Ducks dancing and splashing with their mating rituals, beavers letting me know they are not pleased to share the lake, and great horned owls hooting & hollering.
Not much fly fishing luck as it's early in the season, I was mostly trying to shake some rust off from a break from the fly, and try out some new lines and tippets. On this trip I was testing so many things: homemade dehydrated meals, new tripod, pole mounts, tents, mats and more. This year is about fine tuning "systems" to prepare for Spring 2025 where I will be doing +-15 day solo, place to be determined. This trip was one of many this year and already planning the next !
After some great days and nights on this secluded lake, mission accomplished ~ solitude was found.
The last day I caught a decent trout, although I would have released it was hooked in the eye very badly. I kept it, cleaned it, and brought it back home to make a nice Trout dinner. Thanks for watching folks!
Cheers,
Curtis
