Gibbons are my favorite primate and it's always sad to see them trapped in such a small space. Those look like white-cheeked gibbons, which are the smallest of the gibbon breeds. This is also the Hong Kong Botanical and Zoological Garden, and it has been under fire the past couple years for animal mistreatment. I hope with continued efforts we may eventually see this animals either set free in the wild or placed in a proper sanctuary.
At the beginning I was thinking what a beautiful place, then I saw the gibbons in a cage😮, that was horrible seeing the primates in cages all depressed too
It's always really sad to see a wild animal in a cage, especially when it's a monkey or primate of any kind ,most of these animals need freedom and family groups . I'm surprised a modern city like that allows the caging of these wild animals . The powers to be are not that progressive after all .
That exhibit in particular is the Hong Kong Botanical and Zoological Garden, someone blew the whistle recently on how badly the animals are treated there. We can only hope with enough pushback they will be given better circumstances.
I don't think so. Tiny is Tina's son and belonged to Skull Head troop. And Grandee was the alpha male in Bosst's troop. But, who knows? Tina was around our troop in the past, so...
I can remember even as a very small child going to the zoo the Cincinnati zoo in Ohio I loved going but always left upset and sad even at 4 years old I wanted to set them free to be put back in the wild where they belonged even the sharks and other fish I knew they belonged in the ocean and that living in that large tank just wasn't supposed to be. As an animal lover my favorite show on TV as a child was wildlife mutual Omaha the old man with white hair on it narrated, I think zoo's should limit the number of animals in order to give as much space and natural as possible for the animals and also animals that are endangered should not be allowed to be kept at zoo's instead the time ,money, and effort to keep there habitats safe and secure for the animals keep hunters, poachers, pet trade and all ill willed humans away except for those protecting and helping preserve and with the threats done away with the animals will breed and raise there population themselves naturally. Humans are so greedy and so selfish and does not care or think about all they are destroying in the name of financial gain. And we wonder why our whole world is in shambles this is why it all comes down to greed and power
Firstly they really are not that depressed and they are getting good health food and medical care. They also gave no threat from humans and so have a worry free life and no hierarchy in which babies are kidnapped and killed or maimed or scalped and their mothers can raise them without fear of other monkeys. Monkeys are extremely cruel just like some humans on earth. Which is unfortunate. At least in Hong Kong the government will cull monkeys or jail humans from mistreating them. These caged monkeys are probably getting heaps of hugs and kisses from their humans who care for them who are also educated professionals.
I haven’t been there but I can guarantee you that these caged primates are not getting heaps of hugs and kisses from their humans. I can also guarantee that these primates place no value on human hugs & kisses. Remember they are wild animals. These monkeys value living free in trees. Compare this to humans living in jail for life. Sure they get food and medical care but they are miserable because they have no freedom.
Zoos have never been a good option. We put wild animals in cages for our own entertainment. It's a sick behaviour on our part. Most zoos say it also conserves endangered species but that's bullshit. To conserve a species it's not enough to have a couple or a few of that animal it needs to be more. It has to be a bigger group with many individuals. 🤓🇸🇪
