Clarissa says the most outrageous things with such honest - wanting to poison her father, her grandmother making the family fortune on her back and so on - so refreshing to be so frank.
I think her claim that she had sex behind the Speaker's chair in the House of Commons was incredible. I wonder what her late Baroness Boothroyd or John Bercow would think about that claim.
I love watching them cook and explore, but the thing that makes it sublime is the constant stream of anecdotes, banter, and song. The two of them couldn't be boring if they tried.
"My grandmother, who founded the family fortunes on her back..." Clarissa would cut at her family with ease; talk about spilt tea😮lol! But she did have a hard time with pops. Loved them both. R.I.P. lovelies 💓
I adore these two fabulous ladies. I saw them on the Food Network here in America for the first time and I was hooked. There was no one like them and their chemistry with one another was sublime. They were both intelligent and witty but in different ways which is why it worked so well. I've seen all their shows and I still watch them 20 yrs later thanks to channels like this. Thanks Negresti Sonicx :o)
These two were the Jeeves and Wooster of cooking, and I mean that in the best possible way! Their playful banter and witty conversations call to mind that most enduring of duos. I'm so pleased to be able to enjoy this show all over again!
I feel lucky to have just discovered these two gems. I will be rewatching this show forever, and I'll look up their books I'm assuming they both have authored.
Did you hear? Men in Dresses and Lipstick can now work as Camp Head-Master to GO AWAY with Your Teenage Boy, and as the camp fire crackels, that Man can inform in the Delights of ALTERNATIVE Moralities, while You foolishly thought the Camp Getaway was about rubbing two sticks together....Well, It sort of indirectly IS, ISN'T IT?!
I must post! Absolutely adore these two Goddesses of gourmet. Thank you Clarissa, Jennifer, their team, and you Negresti for these lovely lovely episodes. I'm trying to drink in every morsel of delicious information. Just wonderful!
This program was so interesting and the "2 fat ladies" made the program so entertaining. Clarissa loved her field sports also and defended her right to hunt, both ladies were somewhat eccentric also; I think Jennifer more-so!
Thank you for uploading these fabulous videos! There are millions of people who have the scripts, scenes, totally memorized. The Food Network and all that is a pale comparison to these fabulous women. Nothing in America can even hope to equal this BBC series. There are no American cooks with the background, humor, and unequaled cooking skills, to compete with these two! This series was a "one off", never to be repeated.
@@RedStrikerBeetleborg fly agaric! Deadly poison! Clarissa was correct! If you don't know what you are doing as far as mushrooms are concerned then leave them alone!
Even "safe" mushrooms may not be safe for everybody. Those shaggy ink caps grow around where I work, and one day we were partaking of some at the office. Everybody was just fine ... except for me. I was facing a 3-4 hour drive after work, going on a short vacation to catch some Shakespeare, and instead I was hit with a gastric disaster that delayed my departure, and I think I only reached my destination through sheer mind over matter. It was awful. I stayed away from those mushrooms after that until, one day several years later I stumbled upon a patch of them among some trees next to another building we'd moved to. I stopped, backed away, and returned to the office -- but shortly after that I had a not-as-harsh case of the same symptoms that nearly destroyed my little trip before. Just getting close to those shaggy ink caps was enough to mess me up.
I make this version of French onion soup so many times. It’s FANTASTIC. The steak sandwich is equally as delicious and I’ve made the two together. Outstanding. I’ve never made a recipe from these two wonderful women that doesn’t turn out to beautifully! Miss them dearly.
Did you make it with "leftover Stilton"? There's no such thing at my house as "leftover Stilton". The whole wedge disappears -- num num num num num -- down to the last trace of a micro-crumb.
I tried the muttachar recipe pretty much as described, only I poached the eggs directly in the curry. It was fantastic and I'm going to make it for dinner again.
I remember being in my teens when I watched this show, it was a program I didn't dare tell any of my peers, I mean being male in school, watching Two Fat Ladies who do cooking, not exactly something to boast about. Still I adore this show, Jennifer and Clarissa were just two wonderful people who were just a joy to have around. Could imagine lunch with them would have been excellent company to have. The chemistry these two had was wonderful, but furthermore. They were two women who just enjoyed life, No politics, no feminism, no pretentions. Now that both Clarissa and Jennifer have passed on, I appreciate them even more, especially in the world we live in now. Now I am unshamed to show my love for this program, I just feel so much better after watching these two, My only regret is I have never had the privilage of having lunch with these two wonderful people. I hope the afterlife was the start of a new gastronomic adventure for you both, you are dearly missed Clarissa and Jennifer. When I die, I am making a meal for both Clarissa and Jennifer, as well as the also late Keith Floyd, oh what a lovely feast it would be.
Funny Frank, I'm just re-watching these again & was chatting with a friend earlier saying what a pity it was that Jennifer & Clarissa never got together to cook with Keith Floyd. It would have been wonderful, gastronomic chaos. Think the only chef that's come close to them in recent years is Valentine Warner.
Still, the ladies urged to pray to St. Peter, but it is written. Acts 10: 25 "And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him 26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man."
that story where Clarissa introduces her indian style eggs dish is the most English thing i have ever heard, love these ladies, they remind me of home and my childhood, though mine was less posh
Jennifer says "Let's return to a town soon." Sounds JUST like something I said when camping in the woods long ago. "Can we go back to Houston now?" LOL
God rest these two amazing, beautiful and hilarious ladies! I love when Jennifer calls Clarissa an old toughie! 😂Much love and I look forward to cooking with you both in heaven. 💕
Oh my, that trout looked good. The best way to cook it, in foil, in its own juices. Superb! Not at all sure, delicious as all those dishes are, that your average boy scout would be queueing up for that kind of fayre. But hey, it was a long time since I was a boy scout!
This was the first episode I ever saw. I kept thinking about that whole steak in the hollowed-out bread loaf and those hard-boiled eggs sitting half-immersed in a pool of yellow curry.
Watch out for finding mushrooms and inviting your former in-laws over for dinner, then serving Beef Wellington,Aussies will know what I'm talking about.🤣🇦🇺
I think back fondly to the time when I was a cub learning the simple measures that would help me be a good man. All but destroyed in our current society. Hope the children in Ukraine are safe.
I love that Clarissa was usually active and got her hands dirty, like when digging the hole, while Jennifer was like me, sitting on the sidelines letting others do the grunt work :-P
@@zarachastellaris9016 No they're not mosquitoes but are similar in annoyance. They are a two winged fly from a different biological family and look more like a fly than a mosquito.
Love how they low key warn you not to go for the red mushrooms 🍄. They do this sort of thing in all the episodes. Whether they warn you or suggest something new it’s fabulous how they build that into the show.
I’m from Tennessee and I’m in my 20’s, but somehow I found this show when I was in elementary school and used to looove watching it until I graduated high school and moved out (and no longer had access to Direct TV lol). These ladies are just incredible! I’m so happy to have found them again! A few years ago I discovered Hyacinth’s antics in Keeping Up Appearances. I know they’re technically very different (silly sitcom vs educational cooking show), but the wit, charm, banter, fuzzy video quality, and super posh accents give me a very similar cozy feeling. If anyone has any recommendations for any other shows to add to my cozy list, please let me know ❤
The speech at @8:26 gives Dr. Evils shaving Story a run for being one of the craziest assortments of unlikely to be combined sentences I have ever heard. This one happens to be, for all we know, absolutely true. By golly, this universe is a strange place!
Clarissa asking the boy scouts to build a fire and Jennifer saying rub two boy scouts together and Clarissa telling her to hush. I loved them so much because they would say everything and anything!
I can’t stand hunting, hated their political viewpoint and am a vegetarian but I wish these two were still alive as they were old school, Non pc and lived their lives the way they thought best and I love that. Just because people have different values to ones own does not mean you can’t still admire them and I do! What do we have now? Presenters who hide behind a cloak of pc respectability but behind the scene are rotters!
ianmedium I don’t know enough about their political views to comment. But, like you, I hate hunting & am also vegetarian. These two women were great & a delight to watch. I couldn’t agree with you more about the pc cloak of respectability by the way.
I couldn't shoot a rat or swat a fly and haven't eaten meat in years but I love these two and the way they lived their lives. I'd love to be on the road with them now
Nobody begrudges anyone eating veg, so why does the veggie mob begrudge people the meat, and there sport. It is disgusting hypocrisy. People who loathe hunting are naive of the way nature is, and it’s cruel efficiency.
I was thinking the same thing!😮 I absolutely love mushrooms but would never even consider peeling one or if so, where to start….never thought they were meant to be peeled but guess I’ve led a sheltered life.😊
I wish that I knew of These 2 INCREDIBLE LADIES before I heard of Them, on “THE OSBORNES.” They were 2 WONDERFUL AND DELIGHTFUL WOMEN. I did learn more about Jennifer on THE BIOGRAPHY, show on A&E after She had passed away. I really believe that Us, Americans missed out on many good programs from THE UK because We did not get Them over here. It bothers Me so much because of How proud and arrogant, We are to make sure that They get Our Programs there. I love that there is Ovation and there was BBC II. I think that was it’s name. It may still be on the air but I have not seen it and the Awesome British Shows I have grown to love to watch. Anyway, I really would have loved to have watched these 2 BEAUTIES in the actual time that these programs aired originally. They were a VERY AWESOME DUO AND VERY ENTERTAINING AND FUNNY! The 3 recipes out of the group that I loved and they showed today; that are my Favorites; The Not dark brown Onion Soup with Homemade Croutons. Another One was The Fritatta and My third Favorite to hopefully try is The Rump and Mushrooms stuffed into a loaf of bread shell and then mashed sandwiches. I don’t think that I would like the others. I know that I would not like the trout. I fished a lot with My Father as a Young Girl and all We ever caught was trout of one kind or the other; Rainbow, Brown, Lake, Creek and BROOK TROUT! YUCK!!!!! Anyway, no offense intended to those of You that love Your Trout. I HOPE THAT EVERYONE WATCHING AND ENJOYING THESE 2 WONDERFUL LADIES HAS A GREAT REST OF SEPTEMBER AND A FANTASTIC FALL!!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND YOUR MAGNIFICENT FAMILIES ALSO. ✝️🙏🏽😊💕💕💕💕💕👋🏼
The Muttachar is one of the tastiest breakfast/brunch dishes I've ever made, I always do it with the eggs poached in the sauce, it's much better - only beaten eventually by some proper devilled kidneys (or soft roes on toast).
