Today I am Using My Ruawhata Sticky icky Fatwood. i am Using My Nathan 4071 Beast 6" x 1" Ferro Rod with a Generic Chinese Ceramic Striker the Exact Size as The Micro Scorpio Version. I am Also Using New Zealand Jasper 🪨🪨🪨💥💥💥 And Testing Ash Lye 100% Cotton Denim Jeans and Mrs Ledbury's 100% Cotton Work Top. This Was The 3rd Time Using My Batch 2 Ash Lye Liquid for The 100% Cotton Material. i Might Try Re- Soaking in A Fresh Batch Of Lye to See If That Improves My Ignition.🤔🤔🤔💥💥💥🪨🪨🪨💯💯💯🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿🌏🌏🌏 Please Feel Free To Share Your Thoughts and Tips, Ideas as to How We May Improve This? i am Open to Suggestions. I love ceramic strikers. I keep mine on a soft ring made of paracord. If kept and used on a metal ring the torque can shatter them. As for the ash lye I think I will start with the cattail fluff.

While making natural soap last week, some slices of polypore and cattail were soaked in some fairly strong lye solution . The polypore got very pliable , usual and the cattail got the results you have been getting. Not more flammable, but the texture is about perfect for holding next to flint. Adding charred willow to the cattail, works nicely. Thanks for your latest, Jason & stay warm.

@@jasonedwardledburynewzeala9897 A piece of charred willow is ground into the cattail or polypore . The dust is rubbed into either. This works well for holding against flint and is maybe even better for down casting sparks with flint and steel or pyrites. The fungi used was - Sulfur shelf / Lactiporus sulphureus. All the best. That was my Third Soak re- using that Lye Liquid. I my Try Re- Soaking it in a Fresh Batch.The Hardest Part is Exposing Nice Fibers to Catch a Spark

Yeah! It Freaky alright. That was the 3rd soak using Batch 2 Liquid. I might re- soak it in some fresh Lye. It Shows Ash Lye has some Amazing Possibilities. Although its Harder to try and Expose Fibers compared to Denim Charcloth.💥💥💥😎👍

@@jasonedwardledburynewzeala9897 , I have used ceramic Sparkplugs as cutting instruments and as a Striker, They are Free at my house because after I change a V-8 engine , I get 8 Pieces of Ceramic , I also busted up a Ceramic Tolit when building my Forge , it can withstand Thousands of degrees of heat

Just wondering... Would it be possible that ph-value has something to do with ignition? I mean, lye has about ph 13-14, and baking soda and ammoniac is about 9 to 11. Could it be working with those too? Maybe would be easier to try with some other materials like cattais, or amadou.
