Thank you Gerald for the tour of the neighborhood and explanations. I look forward to my trip to the area and you helped me to understand what to expect. What a beautiful place. Thank you very much.
Had a great time in Oregon. I'm making another video to cover more prospecting tips for sunstones and I'm making a shorter version of this video. They should be out soon. Looking forward to your comments.
Hey, great explanation of formation and content if sun stones. You were organized, thorough, and full of helpful tips and techniques. So thanks for all that. Really.
Driving there with my 12 year old son for spring break. Is it hard to find , or are the gravel roads marked. I am a little nervous about getting lost. We are staying in plush 2 nights so we will leave plush early so we can mine and leave by 4 and be back in plush hopefully well be4 night.
Yes I just gave you the exact location and how to find them. When you dig in the draw pay close attention for a larger gravel layer. Itll be tiny travels packed into a layer. That's the decomposed layer where the bulk are at. If you hit a layer where your not finding anything dig a little deeper and look for another band of that dark stuff. Good luck and good hunting.
I wonder if you seen my half filled in pit there in the draw. You should definitely dig in the draw. Notice up by the porta toilet you can see the cap rock flow. Walk down the draw just past the part where a secondary draw intersects. You'll see it. I've pulled so many great stones out of there. Up to a couple inches in length and width. Most are larger than your finding.
Whats a draw? Sorry I haven't had this good a laugh in a long time. I suggest reading at least one book of geology before you set foot in the wild. This is for your own safety.
@@rosemaryadamson5176 your dumb. You know what I was saying. If the information and the genuine gift of sharing knowledge is beyond you.. Your comment was shallow, petty and rude. I’m a retired wildland firefighter for the record. Your told to evacuate and run from the woods when it’s dangerous. I made a career out of making people safe again. Pfft! You shouldn’t have a keyboard. It’s dangerous to stick your fingers and foot in your mouth like that.. Now I dig gemstones and hunt for wild culinary foods in the forest for a living. 🤷♂️ What are you, a teacher? Those who can’t do… Correct others on the internet? Hope you at least get paid for your day job. 🤷♂️
I believe you are the Idiot. That wasn't a message for you but what it did do was give me insight into your lack of character and knowledge. If your living off the land as you say you are good luck to you. Your going to need it
There is a new discovery in Ethiopia of sunstone just as big and red , they find sunstone all the way down to Mexico, mostly champagne but , I don’t be it is that rare, it’s a form of labradorite, it is just not dug like a major gemstone is
$200 a belt run at Spectrum. They have different prices for different areas to dig per day. Dust Devil cost $80 a belt run. You get to keep most of what you find digging in their mine run material. You pay 1/2 wholesale for the big colored stones.
Made one today and went out there, it's hard not to pick up what falls through a 1/4" screen but was thoroughly impressed with a couple lazy hours of shallow digging & screening. I live in Lakeview so I'll be out there a lot.
