Because each of us has bought THAT jacket at some point in our lives.
In the first method I remove a shoulder pad completely using only a needle, thread, chalk, and scissors. The second method is a more thorough alteration using a sewing machine.

I bought a vintage Ralph Lauren blazer. It’s from the 80’s. The shoulder is crazy and I haven’t worn it yet.

A really great video, I was asked to remove and alter a jackets shoulder pads and was looking for a good tutorial. One thing I must say is I always shudder when people just push the seam ripper along the seam. You must often cut into the fabric? Having worked previously professionally for a short time we always used an awl to remove stitching. But if it works for you just be careful, LoL Again thanks for the video as I have never altered a shoulder before.

Thank you- the seam ripper can definitely be a bit nerve racking at first, but it really depends on the fabric. Tweed like this is super easy to seam rip accurately, but if I was working with something more dainty like thin cotton I usually use embroidery snips. I worked alongside a tailor who would just take one side of his shears and run them along the seam. It was terrifying to watch but he was so practiced he never nicked the fabric. I tried it once and made a mess, haha.
