You've done an awesome job explaining why you use Nova Launcher. With Nova, I set my home button to alternate between my Home page and app drawer. So opening up an app is a two click operation. With the standard launcher, you have to swipe through too many screens to get to what you want.

I also would prefer a better and brighter screen choice, with less washout and glare.
Good review. I actually just bought the same unit about 4 days ago. Still trying to get the steering wheel controls to work but overall I really like the head unit. Only cons I have is that the screen should be brighter and It does stick out a little too much. I know the reason for this but couldn't they have made it the same way but have the DVD slot on the side of the screen including the sd and gps.

you can put the gauges on the screen, split screen and you can tooth your OBD2 for real time monitor ,and adjust its 20 more for the obd2 BUT WHERE IS THE RCA OUT no car speakers or sub you need 5v front rear and sub or its not a car stereo

I've owned one for 3 months now, GPS signal loss as well as GPS navigation errors due to faulty GPS antenna since day one. The Xtron tech support suggested to put the antenna on the outside of the car, that didn't work btw. Not wanting to place the antenna outside, I bought an antenna from amazon for 12 bucks and the GPS signal loss went away however the issue of google maps and Syric maps continues during navigation, constantly suggesting crazy U-turns and just way out of the way crazy navigation. Their tech support was of no help here, they suggested I install other map apps. The system freezes and the only way to get it to work again was to do a complete boot. Stereo system is fine but I purchased this system for the large screen and navigation. Buyer beware they have not worked out all the bugs yet, and the tech support will having you jumping thru hoops until you get past the first month, so they can then say sorry we can't exchange it because it's beyond 4 weeks. I was in constant contact regarding the GPS issues since week 1, but the so called support told me tough luck. I highly recommend you don't buy this system.
That sounds like a horrible story. I agree with you, buying something directly from China also means, that the support is gonna be non existent basically. However I haven't had any issues with my GPS.
Danke dir! Sowieso ;) They tend to update the software quite regularly. About every two months. You need to get Xtrons to send you a link to the files however. I'm not sure if they'll be updating it to android pie however. The community will probably release a pie rom I think.
Hey how is the headunit holding up? I have seen some others stop working completely, run slower, have bluetooth problems etc. Also does this support apple car play at all, i know some can use a dongle to allow support.
Everything works great except the mic. Person on other end of phone call can barely hear me even when I am very loud. Tried external mic that came with it and same result. Can't find a fix for it. Extremely frustrating

Good review. I'm considering a similar xtrons unit. I had an Android unit in the past and there were 3 things that irritated me: having to manually turn the radio on when I get in, boot time and then having to select an app every time (radio or other audio player). Do you know if it's possible to turn on when you turn the ignition on and also boot straight into an app?
Thanks! All of the functions above are supported by either this unit or other xtrons units. I personally also switched to another xtrons unit, which also supports all of them. However, I am also using a Canbus adapter. Which I also would suggest to you.
I was thinking of getting this model for my hummer h2 but it doesn't appear in the xtrons website. Do you know if it's been discontinued? If so are you aware of similar stereos? Are you still using yours? Thanks
When it comes to it being to complex or difficult to use/setup for novice users, Those people should stick to android auto. Do you know if the unit support traffic announcements via dab+ ?
Great review by the way. I have 1 question about the speed volume. I have an android unit but can't get it to change the volume on speed, it is because the rom doesn't allow sound adjustments other than the physical button. I have tried changing volume within BlackPlayer and other apps, but makes no. Do you have any ideas? Would I have to install a different rom?
Hello, I have a few questions: Which CANBUS setting you choose for your Alfa Romeo 159? Is everything working? (like all the buttons on steering wheel...) And can your HU show on screen informations about your car, like outside temperature from CANBUS adapter communication?
Hi, I chose the first Alfa Romeo Canbus option there is. However, changing this to whatever setting didn't actually do anything for me I'm afraid. No open door, outside temp, speed or anything. Not all steering wheel buttons work unfortunately. Only 3 on each side. I think alfa did something weird when assigning those buttons. Seems like 2 out of the 5 total functions per button are a mixture of the 3 others. Really strange.
@@meistarkus Yeah, I got very same issues with buttons, only few is working, I used Connects2 CANBUS decoder, so it looks like the problem is really in a vehicle. I updated MCU on my HU and nothing changed, maybe I will try update to Android 9 just to see if something change
@@Prco53 I think so too. Had the exact same problem back when i was using a pioneer stereo. The canbus adapter was also from a different brand back then. So as you also said, i think the problem is with the vehicle,
Oh and almost forgot, the rear view camera app freezes and stays on the screen no matter what app you choose. I informed tech support of this issue and was told to buy their camera as it may be a compatibility issue. Riiiiiiight. After being giving the run around by their tech support I'll just cut my losses and just use the radio and stereo and call it a day.
Is the way you've got the home screen setup with the time and round icons a plug and play option straight off the bat or is it something that you had to add?

Great video, I just installed same unit, not to happy with screen brightness though. Do you have steering wheel buttons working, I cant seem to get them working also I cant get any video on screen just sound... Maybe there is a wire I didnt connect.
Majority of these Chinese units are all made in one factory and "rebranded" by the companies, I'm pretty sure joying and xtrons are like Chevy and GMC.
I've got an identical head unit installed, although the software OS is different (Android 7.1) . in Settings > Extra Settings, I've found a menu to change the LED touch IO button color, offering 3 options, although switching between these does not have any effect on the color of the buttons. stock color is blue, but I'd love to have red buttons like yours... anyone have any idea? also, the previous car owner installed this head unit and was unable to provide the OEM user manual or any support materials. I can't even seem to find an official website for the manufacturer or brand name of the unit. does anyone know where I could find any form of support online?

you can do two things: 1) Connect the illumination wire (orange) with the correct wire providing 12VDC when your car interior lights are on 2) Go into the factory settings and there is an option in the very right tab, to switch on the button lights at all time when the device is powered
i order this unit about a month ago.putting into my 93 rx7, using the iso cable it came with, i connected it right i believe,blue lights flash screen turns on for a second or two and shuts off. email them showing them and everything, saying their gonna send me some chip but its been about a month.and idk. frustrated not trying to open a PayPal case.but its been over a month..

Kheang Chh-Ly maybe try a full factory reset from within the recovery menu. It can be entered by holding the reset button (small pin needed) and then press again when the button lights start blinking. Within the recovery menu, select the factory reset.
Xtrons TR100 running 8.1 has lot of bugs . I have the TR100 model - very dissapointed with it . Both Google Maps and Waze voice directions are truncated. There is no option for keytouch tone for the buttons and touch screen making it a guessing game when pressed. The most idiotic is the "AS" button on the radio - it erases all your pre-programs channels once pressed ! ... Best developers quickly update patch. An over priced China Android unit guised as UK
DON'T BUY XTRONS products!!!!! warranty is just at an informational level, support is nonexistent. I have one for 8 months now and the audio channel for the right rear door broke! I cannot send the unit back for repair as they have a location in UK, Leeds , but no person that can be contacted there. Basically you just give the product to the courier guy and he will most probably leave it on the ground at the specified location. But you do need to take into consideration that the seller is sorry for the inconvenience caused, BUT not that he took your money by selling you a low quality product for a big price.
no, it's not that simple. many people might not want to have a pioneer or whatever, because they are 1) limited in their capabilities at a comparable price or 2) ridiculously more expensive, if you want them to have the same functions (Nav, Video etc.) as the xtrons or other android stereos. Also you might not always want to connect your phone via cable to your car whenever you get in, which is the case for most stereos that support android auto or apple car play unfortunately. I agree with you on one point tho, if you don't want an xtrons radio, don't buy one.
