Many thanks for talking us through your thoughts on the first dress. It is good sometimes to challenge our thinking about our 'style' but you also need to be comfortable. I love how you styled the dress to make it more 'Kristen'. Beautiful details.

Your knit dress is so lovely. I can see why you hung onto it until the right pattern came along. I think a lot of us do this! As for sewing, well I usually start with the fabric and then look for a pattern to suit it although I love getting a new pattern too!

I think the frill looks great - and I’m like you, I would never normally go for a frill but having seen yours I will give it a go! I like the idea of using Swiss spot in a darkish colour as a first foray!!,, thank you for taking one for the team 😂

Hi Kristen I love your shirt and both dresses. The ruffles look good they elevate the dress. Melbourne is a great city. Loved the views been to some of those places. Loved the exhibitions. Thankyou. Lee. Oh I think of what I want first then look for it in the shops and then if I cannot find it I try and make it.

Hi Kristin. I think you look phenomenal in both dresses. I even think you rock the ruffles. I get you that it’s not your preferred style, but from our side……it totally looks like it could be. 😊 Anyways, it IS nice to try something outside your normal style every now and again. You can just visit a new look but you don’t need to stay there.

100% agree with you about making a garment and then not feeling confident with it (then it just stays in the cupboard) - both dresses look great and good on you for not giving up and finding a solution and not wasting your beautiful fabric.

Hi Kristen, i love the run down of the Melbourne visit. The light show is amazing. We have one one here also in our Kings Park gardens. I would love to get over to Melbourne to the Pharaoh exhibition. May be a definate trip for me later in the year. I love the Kallie dress by Forget me Not, its a pretty style. The pattern emporium mash up dress turned out so lovely and really shows off the beautiful fabric. Thanks for a great vlog ❤

I love living vicariously through you. I love your mini breaks. I wish my partner was into that kind of thing. He's more of a pub guy and I'm a Cafe girl. More like yourself. I love both your dresses. Your mash up of the PE pattern is a great idea. I think it looks amazing. You Chinese lantern is so big and beautiful. I have two pink ones. I love that you tried a pattern which wasn’t your ‘usual’ style as sometimes it can surprise us! I love both dresses and so glad you found a way to fix the problem. It’s hard to think of the winter when we are in our ‘summer’ although here in Ireland it’s not always very warm! So far it’s been pretty miserable but the incoming week is promising. Loved to see your trip and the photos. I am off to buy the new Forget-Me -Not pattern x

Lightscape comes to Brooklyn, NYC, US, during the holiday season, at my local botanical gardens. It was so good this past season. I would love to see how they adapt it to different locations.

Love forget me not patterns, I’m going to check that out for sure. I’m currently on a mission to make winter dresses for work so when I saw your Insta post I knew there would be some knit coming home with me too! Going to give the fit and flare a go, I’ve had the pattern for a while and lots of intentions but hadn’t gotten there yet. That’s about to change! Loved the Egypt exhibition and night garden peeks ❤

Kristin your trouble-shooting of the Pattern Emporium dress was so clever and suits you beautifully. Some of my favourite makes have been when I thought I’d stuffed up only to find out that the amended version was an improvement on the original. That’s why I choose to see sewing mishaps as opportunities to develop creativity. BTW I have sent u an email this morning to ask your advice about combining orders. I forgot to order the viscose twill with my original order.❤

With that ruffle I’d want the skirt to be fuller, otherwise make the ruffles only 1 centimetre a bit more a la Prue Acton.
