Blue or red what’s the difference then charging 3k for sw200 movement just for the screws but a marinemaster with real in house movement is considered very expensive for some watch enthusiasts!
Been using my Sinn 556i this year, gave it a good test in Greece with a navy blue tropical and took it to 60m depth scuba diving, the anti reflective on both sides works a treat while on the beach and I only gain 2 seconds a day with regular use. For its price with a top grade Selita SW200 movement regulated by Sinn its such a good deal! Super happy with it. :) Not surprised about the price increase this watch is underpriced for what you get which is why I bought mine earlier this year.
Ordered yesterday can't wait to get hands on it the sinn 556i🤗 Update: got it yesterday and I just can say from packaging to finishing the watch is from another world. You feel when you hold the watch there is a quality and its earning the luxury name for sure.after you see the black dial nothing gonna be black like this dial🤷♂️ love everything about this watch poor man's explorer👌
I received my grandfather’s Sinn 244 Ti last year. Such a great watch and i wear it with pride :) Looking forward to my first job and purchase me something i can pass down one day :)
Hey Teddy. Great vid. You’re one of the few channels that I turn my notifications on for. I just recently purchased the Junghans Max Bill Auto Sapphire to mark my 10 year wedding anniversary. My wife got the quartz max bill. It was your channel that introduced me to Junghans so thank you. It also helps you have the same wrist size so I get a good idea of what the watch will look like on me. But now I’ve got the watch bug and I want another! Looking for a more everyday watch. I was set on the Sinn 556i so I’m so glad you made this video. I seem to gravitate towards German watches and I’m not sure why.
Got the Sinn on my wrist right now, couldn't be happier with it. I have the Arabic numbers on though, because imo with the H-shape bracelet it's not that much of a dress watch anyways so I went for the full casual look. If you go without Arabics I personally feel like you'd have to go with the red second.
The Sinn has to be one of my favourite dials ever, looks exactly like aircraft instruments and also like aircooled VDO Porsche gauges. Some bauhaus minimalism but bolder
I can´t believe how much the Sinn increased in price. I got mine in 2019 for 860 Euros which included only a 3 percent discount due to the virtual non-existent availability outside of authorized dealers. I´m still mesmerized by the quality, versatility and especially by the deep glossy black finish of the dial.
I was fortunate enough to buy a Muhle panova recently so I'm very happy to see this video. I absolutely love the watch but for the price point a NATO strap just feels tacky and cheap. To quote Leary in one of your videos when he saw a NATO strap on a watch, looks too much Boy Scout. The watch itself is fantastic it makes for a perfect do everything kind of watch. That's assuming you had enough sense to put a nice leather strap on it. Yet again another great video so keep them coming!
Seems there’s a general move towards higher prices. I think Sinn are great watches but priced correctly, if not a bit higher than their value, however it’s fine if you get slight discount. Raising prices seems a bad idea to me for this specific brand.
The 556i on the fine link bracelet will very very likely be my Christmas present to myself this year. IMO it's simply one of the best watches you can get.
I prefer the RS version of the 556, with that popping red second hand. Has been on my list for a while--I will get one around Christmas this year. If you like the 556, you might also like the Timefactors "Everest"... if you can ever get one!
I have a Muhle 29`er. The build quality is second to none. It's on a brilliant slinky bracelet and has an exhibition caseback. They're highly under-rated. Great video.
i just watched another channel reviewing the sinn 556 chocolate dial a few days ago. it instantly became my short term grail. will be tracking one of those down as soon as i thin out my collection a bit.
I'm in my mid-60s and feel in love with the Muhle Glashutte Panova since I first saw it last year and seriously want one. Very playful with the injection of color but not as in-your-face as the Nomos (which I have to admit, I do like also). I'd been leaning towards the green dial with the orange indices, but that Panova Grau paired with the black strap is a real killer look. I'd recently discovered the Davosa Ternos and find it greatly desirable for a dive watch.
I’m with you Teddy. The Sinn 556 has been one of my favorite watches for quite some time. It’s truly a shame I didn’t spring for one before the huge price increase. That said, it would be a hard choice between it and the 656, which I also love. The Muhle with a black strap is very nice also.
I purchased a pre-owned Sinn model 856i (didn't know much about it but the design is very spare and cool, and it spoke to me!) and today is the first time I've ever had a mechanical watch on my arm. The one thing that I'm laughing about it, the continuously moving second hand is so so so much more relaxing that on my old quartz watches where it moves once a second! I hope it's accurate; it seems like a really good watch. It was like $1500 which was probably a pretty high price but it seems like it will last forever.
Great video of a great Sinn watch. But why no love, generally on RU-vid, for the 856? Essentially the same watch...but better technology and Tegimented steel.
Damasko ceased production on the DS30, and switched to the DK30/32. The prices went up due to Damasko using their own A26 movement in the DK3X watches rather than the ETA 2824 found in the DS30. Last year I was looking at a Sinn 556 I vs. a DS30. I ended up with the DS30, as it offered more watch for the money. With the new DK30/32 the prices have come closer to parity with the Sinn, but the Damasko still has the advantage of hardened steel, and an in-house movement.
I am from the future……..DS30 is back on sale! Price identical to the Sinn! Here in the UK, I can now get the Sinn for £930 and with our dire government in the UK our pound is worth pretty much a dollar!!! Sinn 556i for $950……go figure!!
@@georgefa that's Euro, and that's on a strap... In USD the Damasko is $1,900 on a strap and around $2,550 on the bracelet... "Same specs" = bracelet vs bracelet and both expected to be within COSC specs with similar power reserves and beat rate... I don't dislike Damasko, just don't see why they're more than a Sinn for essentially the same watch...
Some other German watches for everyday wear: Dekla Turbulenz v1 A 3-6-9 dial, 200m WR, Sellita SW200 (as a base option) - choice of finishes (including a hardened steel option upgrade) & dial/second hand options Archimede KLASSIK 200 - Rolex OP like look, 200m WR, hardened steel case
Yes, I agree, Archimede Outdoor, I have a Damasko DS30, these 2 were the top of my list with the Sinn a close third, no regrets with the Damasko it's great and suits me just fine.
Love the Sinn, but didn’t want to spend $1500. Bought the Atticus Icarus. Homage to the Sinn, but in my opinion…has some better features for 1/3 the price.

The new Seiko Alpinist can make a strong case for best everyday watch at a very reasonable price. No more compass. One screw down crown. 200 M water resistance. 70 hour power reserve. 24 jewels. Sapphire crystal. I mean come one, nothing better at that price range.
I have the new green Alpinest with out the bezel. I originally had the sarb017, but that compass crown would move and because it wasn't screw down It would annoy me. When the new Alpinest came out, I bought it and haven't regretted it. It's a beautiful watch and the bracelet is great (especially for seiko). I wish they made the new alpinest in a glossy Arctic blue without the extra crown. That being said, I have looked at the sinn 556i for over a year. That is a gorgeous watch, my only problem is that i want a small watch collection
This is right in my alley … love an every day watch (a Pandemic era helps with that i.e. no more formal wear 🤷🏼♂️) but mostly, and this is just my obsession talking, I can’t wait to get a German watch in my roster. I’m aiming for a Nomos but my budget dictates otherwise. BUT, at under $1,000 (On Teddy’s online shop anyways), the Mühle Glashütte Panova Grau is a great deal and mostly, with that Nylon NATO-Like strap, it’s “exactly what the doctor ordered” 😉 Thanks for sharing these gorgeous timepieces 😊👍🏻

You certainly love your 556i, Teddy. For me, it’s the Sinn 556i with the dimensions of the Panova and the submarine steel of the Damasko, the almost perfect everyday watch. The perfect one would have a diver bezel lol😅
They could be more pricy than the competition but german brands keep high level of quality. Can’t Argue with that. 👍 I would add Stowa to the list. Leaning more toward Flieger design maybe more casual but still a classic / vintage design with a few customization options. 👌 In 40 mm or 36 mm even in bronze, it can be a nice choice for an everyday watch.
Had the Sinn for a few months but the quality control was a miss. Specks of dirt under the crystal / on the dial and a mark on the exterior AR coating that was seen at certain angles. The idea that they are increasing the price (purchased it in 2019 for $1100) is a disappointment.

Huge Sinn fan. The value for what you get in terms of tech, style, and durability is awesome. There's still time to get a relative bargain before they raise prices. I still don't have a 556, and was about to pull the trigger on the mocha one last night, but I spoke with a friend who said he's had magnetism issues affecting accuracy with his, and his father's. Could be an anomaly, but the 556 does not have the same magnetic protection as say, an 856. Thoughts? I'd love to see a video on watches with protection from magnetic fields. Different models, brand approach, the origin, history, reasons for needing it, iron cage vs parachrom, silicone, etc. Anyway, thanks for another informative video Teddy!
I love my DS30 but I can tell you Damasko is not the easiest to work with. I tired to buy a new inhouse movement from them, just the movement and the email I got back was just head scratching. I don't know what those guys are smoking over there but its good stuff. Still Damasko make amazing watches and I really cannot recommend them enough. Hopefully sometime I'll get to handle that Sinn, its a contender.
I know the Sinn gets a lot of attention - they have also far outpaced inflation the last 3-4 years in how their prices have gone up. The sense I get is that the Muhle Glashutte watches are higher quality, and with the price gap closing between these two brands, it seems the MG perhaps makes more sense. I'm curious, would you put quality of manufacturing as equal between these two brands, or does MG really hold an advantage?

The no-date version of the 556 with a brown sunburst dial is gorgeous! Out of these two though, I’d still go with the Sinn. I don’t like the 🍊 details on the Mühle.
Great video! I'm a huge fan of German watches and always looking to add another to the collection. You say you were frustrated with Damasko? I'll give you frustration! I ordered the blue DK30 in June. Website stated 6 weeks delivery. At 7 weeks I contacted them asking if it would arrive soon. They said 3 more weeks. It's now been 13 weeks and I'm still waiting. While I understand current supply chain issues, what I don't understand is the complete lack of communication from Damasko. Bottom line...no matter the quality of the product, I will not spend money at a company with such poor customer service. I'm happy to move on to another Teutonic make. Cheers!
As good as this video is presenting Panova on over 19cm wrist vs. 556 on 16,5 cm wrist does not give a chance to properly compare size and wearability. I would love more side by side shots as well as showing both on large and small wrist.
I have both a Sinn U50 and a DA47 on the ICE bracelet. There is nothing like that ICE bracelet and you understand why it costs so much when you wear it. For me anyway...😉. If you haven't tried it hit me up and I'll send mine over for you to experience.
I own a U1 & U2 and has a 104 for a brief period and sold it to a buddy that wanted it. I will own another 104 at some point as the 556 is a bit smaller for my 7.5" wrist. I wear bracelets so it makes Damasko not attractive since their bracelet is crazy expensive and overbuilt with a butterfly clasp.
Native German here: You pronounce Mühle very well! But Glashütte isnt with an english "sh", that would be "sch" in german. its pronounced "Glas" like "glass" and then "Hütte" with an ü very similar to how you correctly pronounce it in "Mühle".
