Thank you so much! These afterthought heels are fascinating! I think, if I ever do make a decent sock, I will be scared to death to cut them lol!! It looks wonderful Ellie! xx

Ellie! You have inspired me to try an afterthought heel!! My 2 daughters and I all have small feet and with a little creativity, I think I could get 3 pairs of shortie socks out of a skein of sock yarn using your method. Thank you so much for such clear and concise tutorials!

OMG you make this look so easy. I am really inspired to try this sock tube method. The only other sock I have made is yoga socks which have no heels and toes.

This makes me feel like I can actually knit socks. Thank you for this series. I’ve taken classes and watched so many techniques, but this actually feels doable. You are a great teacher. ❤️

Wow!!! I’m thoroughly in awe!! When you started cutting the yarn my mouth dropped!! I want to knit socks this year (never have) and idk, I’m definitely not brave enough to do this (yet) Lol thank you so much

Thanks for taking the time! I will definitely try this, because this way I will use the whole yarn and don’t have all the scrap yarn laying around. Also I have to daughters and they always won’t to be the next in line to have a new pair of socks (they are 18 and 16 now, but this didn’t change 😂). With this method I can finish a pair for each girl at the same time. Brilliant! Greetings from Germany, Frauke

You have made it look so easy! I would be tempted to wear the tube without heel. Of course I would have the cuff and toe. LOL Thank you for this wonderful series.

I am absolutely going to do this. I was always so frustrated trying to put my needles in before cutting the yarn I wouldn't do afterthought heels. Thank you this looks so much easier.

Wow, you do that so effortlessly. I’m so scared of dropping/missing stitches. Do you ever pick up stitches before you cut? Salam wa sa’aadah
@crafthousemagic
@crafthousemagic 5 лет назад
Hi Linda, I prefer to pick them up afterwards as sometimes the needle gets caught in the yarn you need to unthread and gets in a bit of a mess. But you can do x

How many would you add on each side for a high instep?
@crafthousemagic
@crafthousemagic 4 года назад
I would add 4 on each side of the heel, but you can add more if you like x x

Thank you for this tutorial and will definitely be trying this method. Would love to know what size the length of your needles are. I tried 9 inch once and just couldn't get on with them and am still using dbl ended. 😕

They are 2.5mm needles with a 60cm cable. These are hiya hiya sharps x

I have a question. I normally do a heel flap n gusset heel. Can’t I just Mark where I’d start the heel flap and know that’s where to start the after thought heel? Thank you for your help 😄
