For the last question - another logic can be as follows: 434-323 = 101, the increase 101 can only be justified if 11 fits (same odd-even reasoning) and 101-11 = 90, only divisible by 6. 101-33 = 68 (not divisible by any) 101-55 = 46 (same as 68) and 101 - 77 = 34 and lastly 101- 99. Potentially faster than the one u mentioned. Potentially faster way but it has its flaws

For the last question I was so doing algebra and wasn't getting anywhere and hearing Charles say "Algebra might not be your friend here", man I laughed so hard.

if y is deciduous then x can either be red oaks or japenese maples. as we no both of them are subsets of deciduous.

Hey Charles! for the last Q why can't it be 11 & 10? It does fit the requirement, A > C Yesterday's Sale: 11*3 + 29*10 = 323 Today's Sale: 11*4 + 38*10 = 424 It also helps us find an answer which is the multiple of 5. As per the equation '5Qa = 125' Am I missing something here? Also, thank you and the rest of the team for such helpful and easy to understand videos on your channel!

For Q3, Cedar is the subset of Conifer meaning Cedar is less than Connifer. So, can the answer be X=A) Cedars ; Y=B) Conifers?

It would be great if you could post this question on forum. There is a greater chance that we will have some clarity by experts.

Hey Charles! Q3: The ratio of Conifers (32%) to Deciduous (~68%) would also be less than 1, right?

I also have the same question
@aryapadhye4772
@aryapadhye4772 7 месяцев назад
True. But the first condition is that we need to be able to determine the ratio and it is not possible in case of conifers to deciduous dueto deciduous percent being approximate.
@fingeall6027
@fingeall6027 2 месяца назад
@@aryapadhye4772 'most' would imply the proportion of deciduous trees was a minimum of 34% (0.68/2). Given that the proportion of coniferous is known at 32%. It should be the case that the ratio of con:dec is always

The last question, if it’s 8, then 8*33+(11-8)*Qc=323. Left side is diviable by 3, but right side, so elimate 8. Am I correct?

Hi Charles &Team, In Q3: We know Cedars is a subset of Conifers; and there are other varieties of conifers - spruces & pines. So in this case of subset vs superset which are not overlapping sets - isn't answer choice A&B valid too?

even this should work u are right
@soumyavijay3606
@soumyavijay3606 11 месяцев назад
not really because you cannot determine the actual ratio. The question states to find the ratio. Even though the ratio of Cedars/conifers will be less than 1,we do not know the exact number of cedars hence we cannot determine the exact ratio.DC is the correct answer

one in eight = is that 1:8 or 1/8? If 1:8 it means 1/9. How should we differentiate? Thanks

I don't understand why the answer of Q4 cannot be C & B. The increase in the population of the sea stars would result in a decline of phytoplankton and therefore the sea stars would start eating coral polys resulting in a decline of the coral reefs
@gmatclub
@gmatclub 10 месяцев назад
Please check the official explanation of this question on this link. gmatclub.com/forum/naturalist-the-decline-of-coral-reefs-has-various-causes-one-contrib-317988.html#p2774751 If you still have follow up questions, you can post them in the same thread.
@idreesanis1733

What you said could make logical sense, but i think the focus is what is the cause and what is the effect resulting in the decline; and the increase in sea stars is a the main effect that results the decline. Now what is the cause for that increase in sea stars?.. increase in Phytoplankton helping them thrive
