It really is bananas. If you like this Joey has another one over at Carter vintage guitars. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3Ds52F7mniHGE%26index%3D17%26list%3DRDpQ2agCCaRh0&ved=2ahUKEwjOo9qHwe3rAhURi6wKHe9cC_U4ChCjtAEwBHoECAYQAQ&usg=AOvVaw119QB9gwofA4f9phNqCJ8g
Good Lord. This guy just oozes tone and taste. I’ve made a living in the past being a first call side man for multiple regional bands so, while I don’t consider myself an incredible player, I do know my way around the instrument and gear. I could practice forever and still not have this much soul in my tone. Joey is just on a level that even the greatest players on Earth struggle to reach. Killer stuff 🤯
I luv slide but i never did not like being limited in open tuning to a chord , i tune standard and like the added ability to use other tones standard tuning offers and we all learned a lot of stuff so its more encompassing and improvising friendly !
After 4 years of aggressive Covid-induced gear experiments and GAS tendencies I can confidently say that 6:44 is the best recommendation on gear-tube. I’m done. Wallet is cooked. Thanks Joey!
Joey, your playing is just amazing! And the amp tones are pretty nice too! It’s hard to decide if I like these tones or your signature amp better. All great! Thanks to you and two rock for posting all this!
Two-Rock and Joey- what a combo! These guys know what they're doing and their costumer service is unbeatable. And Joey is quickly and firmly becoming one of my biggest influences. Can't wait for the new material. Cheers, guys
MAN THE HEAD AND CAB LOOK BEAUTIFUL!! if you turn up to a gig with that you better be able to play well or i can hear the crowd now "YOU SHOULD HAVE PUT ALL THAT MONEY INTO LESSONS!!"" i guess you could just turn it up till you can't hear them!
Joey is the most beautiful guitar player I’ve ever heard. Tone, technique, melody, and phrasing comes together like no one else. Also, I’ve been convinced that I need one of these amps. Would you say there is much difference in the sound of the 20/40 watt head and the 50/100? Did you make any tweaks to compensate for the differences between 6L6 and 6V6? Thanks!
saw Joey ring out a Two Rock here in Austin playing with JD Simo. Was it this amp? It was definitely loud and proud. Let's just say I was glad I brought my earplugs. Love my Crystal 100 and Two Rock 2x12 cabs, btw.
@tworockamplifiers is he playing the 100/50 version head OR the plain 50 watt head??? Any difference in the 50 watt amp vs the 100 on 50 watt setting?? - Anybody help
Man I have to get me one of these Bloomfield's. Two Rock if you ever want to loan one out I'm your guy. Glad to see some new stuff on your RU-vid as well.
No, second highest - the TS1 is the highest gain model Two Rock offers but unlike the Bloomfield Drive the TS1 does not have onboard reverb if that is important to you..
sweet & killer tone, except for two items of mention, firstly, Joey is sitting in front of almost $10,000 in amplification, and secondly, this Cat would sound this good if he was runnin' thru a peavey bandit. (it's jokes, guys) Not trying to wind anybody up,,,,, In any case, my modest collection of hand built, hand wired tube amps (6L6s, 6V6s, EL84s, 6971s)(RedPlate, Conrad, Wang, Carvin, Deluxe etc) isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. Oh, and for daily practice & play, it's tube like Katana Artist.
Clifton Torrence He wouldn’t sound as good through a crappy amp. That’s for darn sure! Gear definitely helps give that extra 10%. I would argue that a player wouldn’t play as well without good sounds. Continuum wouldn’t have been as good without the two rock/dumble sound. Just perfect. Tone is not all in the fingers contrary to bad internet quotes. If it was, everyone would be playing through a peavy bandit and save the money. Gear matters. A lot.
Tone is definitely in the fingers, if you can play you sound good, that's why not everybody plays a peavey bandit, but a peavey bandit, if it's still like the solid state one I had in the 80's is the wrong example, should be at least a basic tube amp. The difference is more the feel of certain amps, some inspire you more or less but to the listener the tone will be irrelevant, this guy can play and if he plays this amp or a blues junior or a DrZ or any other basic tube amp does not matter. @@BeefNEggs057
Sorry, I hope my review doesn't sound too harsh. Please take it as constructive criticism. Very nice and skilful guitar playing, but from a product presentation / demo I would actually expect the focus to be on the possibilities of the amp and how the setting options affect the sound. Playing a slide guitar for minutes on end will probably not fully represent the range of applications of this amp. I would have preferred shorter phrases from the Clean/Crunch/Lead section that were more to the point.
Landreth was like einstein; he never spoke a sound before the age of six. Then, out of the blue he began carrying on an adult conversation with his parents who fell into shock
Well, shoot lol/smh Gotta say, it's nice coming to this video after one with two more "traditional" players clumsily tip-toeing around the word "Dumble," and then get here where Joey's just like, "Uhh, this amp sounds really good, sometimes I use pedals that sound really good, now here's some MUSIC that sounds really good!"... Remember music, gearheads? 🤷🏼♂️
Me to wife: I’m buying 2 new Two Rock amps! (4 rocks;) Wife: How much are they? Me: About €9000 Wife: WTF?! Why? Me: Joey Landreth told me I need them in my life! Wife: I’m gonna hunt Joey Landreth down!!!! Me: Can you take his two rock when you find him???
The Holy Father. Read my comment again mate... I said 2 x two rocks = €9k I was referring to the Bloomfield drive and the TS1 which would be closer to €10k so no exaggeration. I’m well aware of the prices of two rock amps. I’ve been using them for years.
when I first saw Brent Mason he had two peavy bandits and a 300$ modded tele painted with car primer.I hear he still sounds pretty good. The jazz great Ray Brown once heard some stupid critics praising his instrument and then set it downandsaid hows it sound now? Well untill the most expensive brands make something more affordableoptions ther is used gear for those of us who work so hard to play with great skill instead of big money there is used gear and reissues. some guy in texas does ok with a fender and a marshall. i asked some jazz guitarist what about his new amp he walked over to it lifted it up then said sounds good.
Mr Khan, Did you have second thoughts about selling your Bloomfield? I am still waiting to hear back from you. Please let me know if you have changed your mind. Thank you, Romans Legion
It's probably even more expensive haha. I don't think Alex Sorokin has official prices but I have seen one of his guitars for more than $5k on Reverb and considering how far he went with Joey's for the pickups and everything, I'd assume it cost more than that.
Canaan Lawrence - they are “off label” ThroBak KZ-90’s, wound on a Geo Stevens winder, which was in service throughout the early 50’s at Gibson. I worked with ThroBak for something unique and special for this build. If you youtube search for “KZ LP PAF ThroBak” , Jon talks at length about that winder and the early pickups and all that geekery goodness. Cheers!
dont take out a bank loan on your payed off car to buy some gear because you fell for the retailers lie TONE IS EVERYTHING! those amps and guitars are hard to carry to the FOOD BANK on a city BUS!
I don’t think he was at his best recording this. Sounds a bit disjointed in parts. Don’t get me wrong, awesome player and tone, just heard him play better. Sorry.
