It's actually shot, not shat. I guess they just misspelled in one song. It's a small portion of drinking of alcohol. Tagay is cheer. Also, in the Philippines, in terms of protein, we eat pork, chicken, and fish most of the time than beef. Meat, there is more tasty compare here in the US.

Tagay means to pour, usually connotes to people sharing a drink using a single cup usually hard liquor or sometimes beer. This is a Filipino way of showing brotherhood and friendship while drinking. I recently found out you are in LV. There are many Filipino Restaurants in Las Vegas you can go mainstream with Jollibee for their Fried Chicken or Max’s also a chicken place. What can I say, Filipinos love their chicken. Max’s serves different Filipino dishes so you’re not stuck with chicken. Kate-kare (beef stew in peanut sauce served with bagoong or fermented shrimp, lumpia or egg rolls, adobo, crispy pasta or crispy pork hock, pork skewer and pancit or noodles. Eat with saucy dishes with plain rice and dry dishes with garlic rice. Rice is important as it softens the saltiness of the dish. As mentioned above the two food places are only 2 of multiple Filipino restaurants in LV. There are lots of smaller restaurants that are like home cooked meals or Lutong Bahay that serve really good food. You should try them out.

You could tour all asian countries and do the honor to have all the authentic flavours you desire. Our most households do the cooking mostly that's why we eat a lot, Filipinos have five if not six meals a day. All around Asia has a lot of different foods that are you can still enjoy land produce veggies, fruits that are free to taste when you visited provinces. We mostly valued our foods so clean preparations is necessary specially if we offer it to foreigners.

It will be summer in the Philippines in a few weeks. Spend a couple weeks in Manila then Cebu and go to Bagiou, the summer capital, located northeast of Manila. Make your own itinerary so you can enjoy more of your stay. Just be careful when dealing with someone about money. Everywhere, you know, there are scammers. So, be vigilant and careful. Actually, the right words to say is: Gusto ko ang manok not Mahal ko ang manok hahaha most especially if, it’s cooked and you are about to it eat😂. . In English : I love/like chicken. Mahal in Tagalog means a few things. It can mean Love and/ or Expensive depending how you use or say it in a sentence. Like means Gusto/ Ibig. Pag-ibig means love also. I know it sounds confusing to non-speakers just like English is to non speakers it’s the same thing😉. Thank you for your reactions guys🫰.
@Beati_Maria

I think the word “tagay” is like a prompt to initiate a group of friends to start a drinking session where they share one glass that they pass around ( I do not recommend it because of the disease you may catch from sharing a glass, you may just ask for a clean glass if you want to participate, because they sometimes call strangers who pass by to take a drink). However, in Pablo’s video I think the word “shat” he is referring to shot as in a shot of of wine. I hope this helps. I wish you the best in your endeavors, God bless you.

1. "Shot" or Shat (in filipino spelling) is also used and translates to Cheers. maybe because ones trying to say "come & have a shot (of liqour)" 2. The meat on Sisig nowadays does not always consist of pig's ears & snout, finer restaurants serve it with pork belly though it"ll never be the authentic experience 3. filipinos love rice, so every meal will be heavy

As far as Filipino food, I like Adobo, Pancit, Sinigang, Turon, etc & know how to make them, along with other recipes. I also like making some Chinese & Japanese foods too. And I also make pizza, tacos, burgers, fish & chips, steak, spaghetti, etc from scratch, heh. You should also try out Jollibees restaurant if there is one near you, although I have heard that the Jollibees in the US do not taste as good as the ones in the Philippines. And do not worry about eating insect recipes in Filipino food as that is mostly uncommon & normally eaten in remote places, or places that are maybe poor. There are also insect recipes in the US. It is just another source of protein, though not relatively popular & mainstream. The only "bugs" I like to eat are shrimp, crabs & lobster, since they are distantly related to terrestrial insects (divergence about 500 millions years ago).

@@DANDJREACT ... No problem. You can also look at Sandara Park's channel "DARA TV". If you are familiar with the famous kpop group, 2NE1, from a decade ago, she was part of that band. She was actually first famous in the Philippines for years before becoming a KPop star. She knows Filipino culture, language, cuisine, etc, just like Jessica & Dasuri. By the way, Dasuri & Jessica have done a few videos together already.

You can try Filipino Fast food Jolibee in your area and compare it to Jolibee Philippines. That would introduce you to Filipino fastfood (McDonalds). It’s nice trying for an intro to Filipino food.

If that's the case, how about BALUT? Try to Google. And the street food, ADIDAS (Chicken Feet), ISAW (ee-sao) Chicken or Pork Intestine, BETAMAX (Coagulated Pork Blood), One-day Old Chick, Chicken Head...... Anyway, you will be safe with KWEK-KWEK (coated Quail Egg) and TOKNENENG (coated Chicken Egg).

HAHAHA we don't eat cockroach only fried crickets! Good source of protein char... the original/traditional/authentic dishes can be found in the suburbs or provinces in the Philippines especially if it's home cooked. But some restaurants used the original part of the meat so it's more expensive.

We have a lot of good food that you can try. As said in one of your videos you'll try anything but not the exotic food. Sinigang, Lumpia (shanghai or gulay), Filipino barneque, kare kare (one of my favorites), Caldereta, Pancit (bihon, canton, sotanghon to name a few) mostly of these dishes are present in Filipino household in family gatherings or even just when we have a visitor. Those are one of my recommendations for you to try...All are masarap (delicious) 🤤👍🏻

Vietnam and Thailand are the go-to places for bugs and scorpions and $#!+. Filipinos love mostly protein so many Filipino dishes have pork, chicken, and beef. Many people, including the late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, consider "sisig" (chopped up pork usually served on a sizzling plate; the original recipe popularized by Aling Lucing of Angeles City used pig's ears and cheeks but most restaurants serve sisig that's made of chopped up[ pork belly) the best dish to pair with beer. We have many kinds of stews like "calderetang baka" or "calderetang kambing" (beef or goat in a savory tomato stew, with potatoes and carrots) and "menudo" (stewed pork cubes with potatoes and carrots), "bulalo" (beef shank soup), "dinuguan" (stewed pig's blood and strips or cubes of pork). Most Filipino food are influenced or derived from Chinese and Indo-Malay cuisine. "Pancit canton" (stir fried noodles) is named such because the people who first served the dish came from the Canton (now Guangdong) region of China. "Lumpiang Shanghai" (pork spring rolls) are named so because the ones who first served this dish came from Shanghai, China. Jollibee is also a must-try if only for the chicken. Most Americans/foreigners say that the spaghetti at Jollibee is sweet. It's not candy-sweet but more like a savory-sweet flavor like American barbecue. Definitely avoid the Salcedo and Legazpi food markets. The food items are so expensive that you're better off buying the same food at a real restaurant inside a mall. Local beers to try are San Miguel Pale Pilsen, Red Horse Beer, San Miguel Super Dry if you can find it, any beer by Boondocks Brewery (this is a craft beer brand). The local liquors are okay, pretty cheap and easy to get drunk on. Emperador Brandy seems to be a favorite. Ginebra San Miguel, the local gin, is my favorite, but I think most people don't like it because they're afraid of going blind. If you want some more tips, send me a message at instagram.com/eatssogood/

@@DANDJREACT There's a lot of variations of sisig based on where you buy it. The sisig shown here contains pig ears (this is actually really good because the cartillage adds crunch & flavor to the dish) It might sound weird with the pig ears but try it once and you might like it. I add it to my sisig here in the USA when i cooked my own sisig.

Sisig is pig head (ears, cheeks, and snout), or what we call, the mask of the pig. And the reason why we use the head of the sisig instead of other parts is bec there was a time we have american military bases here in PH, americans tend to throw away the pigs head, so filipino being filipino, we hate being wasteful and invented a dish specially for pigs mask which is sisig

Hello! TAGAY is a Visayan term..somewhat similar to shat ( Pablo's Akala song)... She ( Jessica) is in Ilo-Ilo, it is a province in Visayan Region... TAGAY,term is commonly used in Visayas and Mindanao areas...But Luzon is slowly adapting the term..but SHAT ( like shots in drinking) can also be understood like cheers, sort of. In the Philippines we have so many dialects...Every region has its own dialect ( Local language) but our National Language is Tagalog...English is our second language..so you guys have no problem communicating with us... Beware: Filipinos are a bit chatty 😅😅
