Nice plug in load and Volt tester. I've thought about getting one, but then id run around the house looking at all the loads in the house :) I don't play with ac too much. Good job on the vid!
I have the red one and during Hurricane Irma we ran a tall refrigerator a box freezer in the garage a big screen tv with dvr, a router for internet, a box fan and 3 lamps for 3 days and nights and did very well on 3 tanks of gas. I had a 5 gallon can of mixed fuel and over the 3 days and nights we never used it all.
Hey was your router and TV ok after running? I know the generator isn't pure sine way, but I was just wondering if it is safe to run sensitive electronics on the generator. I have the newer 1200 watt model and I can run 2 small window ac units and my fridge. And it used a tiny amount of gas/oil. So convenient.
Usually they're fine as they usually have an external switch mode supply. If you're really concerned, get yourself an Anker powerstation and route it into your house and use everything as you would normally and charge the powerstation with the generator
Hi josh. Thanks for sharing.. My generator stop producing electricity after 2-3 hours running but the engine is still on. Could you explain what might be the reason it happened? I need to turn off the engine like 10minutes, then i press the reset button, after that it running back normally.. it happen like every day im using it.. thanks in advance!
the generator has to throttle up to meet the load that the grinder/drill on it, and the reason why it can't power the light or two is due the voltage could be too low to light up the light bulbs. in the USA the voltage needs to be around 115-125 volts and in Europe the voltage needs to be around 240 volts. if you are going to use this style of generator on sensitive electronics it is not recommended due the electronics don't like the quality of the power coming out of this style generator. the best type for sensitive electronics is an inverter type.
This is because motors have a high startup wattage and then their wattage drops way down when running. In a no-load condition it is only consuming enough power to just keep spinning so even less. A light bulb has a high startup wattage as well but then keeps settles down pulling a large amount. The generator may not have enough time to react and catch up so it stalls. When starting up the power tools it initially can bleed momentum a lot initially and then have an opportunity to adjust
Thanks for watching , and NO due the generator is too small to run a welder. I was running the generator at its max and that was 7 amps, you need at least 20 amps Minimum to run a cheap HFT welder.
it is probably not the best to run sensitive electronics on this type, due to the total harmonic distortion is most the time, not as controlled as well as with an inverter or a 4 stroke generator.
Try connecting a 12v sine wave inverter to it to power such devices, there is a reason they come with a 12v power connector it's not just for charging car batteries.
Hooked mine to a dead battery on a F150 and an hour started the truck. I always look for that feature on small gens but manus seem to be stopping that for some reason
It shouldn't be smoking that much, it means that the oil to fuel ratio is still a bit off, or the oil itself isnt the best quality, but it shouldn't cause much damage to the engine.
