Great video. Dumonde Tech is sold at all the dealerships here north of Seattle. Really good oil ran it for years in my YZ285. Currently using Bel Ray MC1 @ 60:1 with ethanol free super unleaded and VP C12. Probably go with Motorex or whatever the dealer recommends on my next bike a 2024 Husky TX300 TBI 👍
Castor oil has its advantages and has its place but for most real world applications i would choose synthetic over castor, low performance trail bikes or low power 2 strokes like chainsaws and other various small engines i would definitely avoid using castor oil. Overtime it has a nasty habit of building up varnish that can plug exhaust ports, gum up powervalves and stick rings. However in extreme high performance racing applications where the engines will receive constant rebuilds and high maintenance and be ran in extremely harsh conditions then the castor is a very good choice, also castor oil is one of the only oils that will blend with methanol and nitromethane so in those applications castor is almost the only option(only a small handful of synthetics that will blend with methanol).
There is a national level kart track in New Castle , Indiana that rents 2 stroke karts...they use only Redline and Blendzall Ultra in their rentals because after 10 years experience their engines last the longest.
Great visual. It looks like the Motul 800 is the one that acts most like the better castor oils. I have to admit, I was surprised at the flash point of the Motorex!!

@@goon.1 Your call, when it comes to engine protection you have to run whatever you feel will give you the best metal to metal film strength possible. Some guys are running Motul710 premix and it seems good too.

Reading a older article about Caster bean oil, comparing to the oils of the day. Stated both mineral and caster the bottom end wear was the same, but the top end caster would go 2 to 1. Not sure if tested with modern oil how it would compare?
I wonder if the Blendzall was boiling immediately due to the solvents added? It mixes well with gasoline. The Ultra is about half the weight of the green label and mixes even easier in all weather. Idk if the Dumonde Tech is diluted with solvent to help miscibility like the Blendzall?
Is Super M a full syn? I didn’t think so, always ran their K2 if I was looking for the best protection. Would’ve liked to see Spectro SX full sun as that’s what I use and trust. As for the castors, unfortunately they’re pretty impractical here in New England if you like to ride when the temps fall. And I’m not about to be changing oils by season. Interesting comparo, if you do more I’d suggest using a small syringe to be sure the quantities are the same.
Leeeeeeeeeeeeee! I’m riding today at 508..for sure one of the downfalls of the oil is that around 40 deg and below the oil can become unsuspended…I’m still running it until the bikes get put away. Hope all is well!
So its winter again in Ga it gets pretty cold in North West Ga and my 23 300 is now fouling plugs on start up, once it gets warm it cleans out and runs fine on the 2nd spark plug. This time last year i didnt have this issue running Cross power T2 that ktm recommends. Ive been running klotz r50 and its been on until now, the flash point is 550 and motorex is 220 with the ecu throwing more fuel to match the temperatures is fouling them like crazy. Im about to swap back and see if this actually the case or not
I think it may be more related to the barometric sensor than the fuel/oil mix but for sure try and post back. Im up in New England and mine is firing up decently.
Oh, one other thing..when you start your bike and the temp is way diff, like you are saying, fire up the bike and let it run for 30 seconds, then shut it off. Let it sit for a minute then restart it, this way the baro sensor will acclimate to a new temp. It's like a forced learn process. Please post results.
@themotocrossmodchannel I sure will, it will probably be a week before I get to the shop ans getting the new/old oil 👍. Funny you mention that because thus far it runs for about 30 seconds or less before the plug fouls then the next/new plug last me for the rest of the whole day once up to a little warmer temp in the combustion chamber I assume.
So all the bike shops where closed today and the MX track was open, I was forced to stop by the parts store and buy lucas semi synthetic 2 stroke oil. Flash point 180-190 flash point. Replaced all old fuel with this and followed your starting advice and have had great luck thus far . 👍 smokes less and seems to have a crisper sound so I believe my problem is solved
Hi what a great intro. Very funny. Great Channel. Host I have a 2024 husqvarna 570bts blower, I bought it at lowes. I have ran 3/4 of a tank ,1/4 remaining .I ran it full throttle. I mean max speed. I'm using xp+premix .husqvarna want $36.00 after taxes for 3/4 of a gallon. What experience do you have with castrol 2t oil ? Thanks
what 2 stroke oil do you reccomend for my ktm sx 125 2023 i am gonna get a br.9 sprakplug en i ride only mx tracks so no trail riding i am stil not a pro so i din't have it wide open al the time.
So im back, and i was wrong on the flash point fouling the plugs, although im sure it didn't help the situation. What part number is the amrmospheric pressure sensor? Is it the same a ccps?
@@jozeluixjozeluix perfect oil for it, keep in mind, it can't be mixed with other premixes and it can become unsuspended in colder temps..Motul710 is a great synthetic injector safe alternative.

I appreciate that you did this, but there was so much variation that the results are somewhat useless. The flame should have been left alone start to finish, or set to exactly the same point for each. Each oil should have been measured, and each poured into the same area of the bowls.
This whole vid was just done to see what oils do what under heat..there was zero expected outcome, zero results for data..it was explained in the vid that this was not a scientific test, and more of just a discussion to see what happens to oils under heat. Got me a lotta views though!
I wont tell you what to do, but I can tell you that I am running castor oil in mine for regular hard mx riding, and in colder temps, motul800 bc the castor can separate from the gas in colder temps.,running 32/1 zero issues.
Have you researched what temp ignition and combustion occurs in a two stroke engine inside the combustion chamber and exh port lol? The coolant reaches 200 deg, easy, I have a gauge to check it. I have links to articles that show a wide range bc it is dependent on the load of the motor, but 400 deg is the beginning of the range and goes up from there.
