Great Pre-Flight footage and great close up footage of the pilots getting in the Super Hornets, Thumbs Up. So glad we caught these two F/A-18's

It was awesome seeing you guys out there that day. I sure wish we could get these in here once a week.

The afterburner and the condensation on takeoff were just great. But the best part to me was the Men and Woman of this flight crew to take time to come over and interact with the crowd. Me, being in that crowd knows that they have an awesome job and a huge responsibility to keep us safe here at home. They could be "stuck-up" about it but EVERY fighter pilot I've met is just so unassuming and down to earth and happy to talk about their job with us! Thanks Ryan for capturing the stuff going on, on the inside of the fence.

I truly appreciate your comment! So true, the crew was insanely awesome, and so accommodating. I wish they flew in every weekend.

It's part of their training. Most men and women that have served understand responsibility and therefore humility because they are part of a system, a community if you will. It is not about themselves anymore. It's about the well-being of the people involved and the citizens. The army can teach the average person so much in reasoning and effectiveness in every task. I haven't worked with any military personnel but as engineer hoping to study aeronautics later on, I've been noticing these parallels in my field of work and theirs.

Depends on where they are heading. If they are going out to the carrier might see them in 9 months or so.

And carriers are floating cities. I always loved interacting with people when I was in. I did a mentorship program at my old high school back when I was a Lt for a few months. Proud to say that student is now himself a Navy officer. Another good time for me was when I gave my wings to a little girl that dreamed of nothing more then being a pilot. $20 for me to replace but for her those wings are priceless :)

I spent 8 years in the Marine Corps working on the original F/A 18 A,B,C, and D models. still my favorite plane in the sky. never got a chance to work on the super hornet.
@RyanBomar

Your service is much appreciated, thank you! The Legacy Hornets are absolutely badass, no matter what. For a plane that was first flown in the late 70's, and introduced in the early 80's, it was years ahead of its time.

Whats the difference between a hornet and a super hornet?
@brianmcgee115
@brianmcgee115 3 года назад
The super hornet is a newer, bigger version of the original hornet. Bigger plane, two additional hard points to carry more weapons, different air intakes for the bigger nor efficient engines.

My father used to fly a6e intruders and they would have contest to see how many lobsters they could put in the a6.. they would fly from cherry point to Boston “on a training flight” and he was the training officer 😂

I'm an Air Force brat and I've always noticed Naval and Marine corps aviators are much more sociable than Air Force pilot. It warmed my heart seeing them walk up to greet the crowd outside the fence.

I was active duty Air Force and ANG, and found that Air Force pilots were pretty cool and Navy were egotistical

How did they happen to be at the old Lockheed airport. Many Burbankers were very surprised to hear them and some even suspected a private jet had crashed. Dad worked for Lockheed from 39 until 74.

Thanks for watching! The pilots needed something like 7 hours of flight time and training, if I recall correctly. Where they went was their discretion, since they're based in VA, they came out here. The Los Angeles area is great for navigating heavily traveled airspace.

Great video! It's interesting to see how they store their clothes and other belongings. At the general aviation airport near where I live (KAPA), F-18s fly in that aren't Super Hornets, and they keep their belongings in something that looks like a large bomb or fuel tank.

They rarely fly the jets with their names on it, they're shared amongst the squadron as they're available.

It's published to be around 2,000 miles, although I certainly can't vouch for the accuracy of that. They departed BUR for Wichita, which is about 1,200 miles.
