Those screws are pretty standard. Metal thread metric no? In Aus at least, avialble at any hardware. Also, why are amp makers not user a simple locktite on these? If it doesnt need to come out, it stays.

Question for you if I may? Own a UK made Laney Loinheart L5T 112 which is just a single ended 5 watt EL 84 class A combo amp and was wondering if it is ok to use a set of Mullard CV4004 in a cathode biased amp. These Valves have been sitting in a drawer for well over 2 years and want to put them in use. I understand that your knowledge is not free and if you never answer this question no worries!
@@PsionicAudio Thank You and I am very well aware of they are just a different type of 12AX7. Own a VOX AC 15 C2 and was told it is not the best choice for this amp. Just was wondering as to why? That is why I never put them in the VOX and they sat in a drawer for 2 years. Both are cathode biased based amps so I was wondering as to why? Maybe it was just based off of misinformation? The CV4004 is not a good choice for a cathode follower stage but that is not at all the same as a cathode biased amp. A CV4004 is great for any non-cathode follower application.
I wish you were my neighbor. I just changed my 2 power tubes in my modified Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue and it’s making noise without the guitar but goes away when I turn the volume down. Checked the tubes. Am wondering if it’s a fractured solder joint at the power tube.
In most Fender-style circuits, the guitar signal goes through at least one 12AX7 preamp tube before it reaches the volume control; and because the noise goes away when you turn the volume down, it's not a problem with a "power tube", it's a problem early in the preamp stage, likely the very first preamp tube. Could be a noisy resistor or capacitor, a bad solder joint, a diry or contaminated tube socket, or a bad tube. Try rocking the tube gently in its socket to see if it makes noise come and go, or try another tube in that socket. Otherwise, take it to a service tech. PS, two points: 1) to avoid confusion, don't say "power tube" unless you're referring to a rectifier tube (5Y3, 5U4, 5AR4/GZ34) which is part of the power supply. EL84, 6V6, 6L6 and the like are *output tubes*, they provide the final audio output to the speaker. And 2), if the noise you're experiencing was generated by the output tubes or the phase inverter tube, you wouldn't be able to turn it down or off with the volume control which is located earlier in the curcuit. Likewise, the power supply ---- a problem caused by defective parts in the main power supply might still show up even with the volume turned all the way down.
