Two years of 999eye 

Two years since the launch of 999eye, we’ve created a video to celebrate its success.
The smartphone solution, developed in collaboration with Capita, enables 999 callers to securely send live footage or images of incidents to our fire control.
It helps control to quickly establish the severity of an incident and ensure that response crews have been mobilised assertively, effectively and safely to locations, armed with the information they need.
Staff in Fire Control use their professional knowledge and a ‘dynamic mobilisation’ approach to ensure we send an appropriate, risk-based level of resource to an incident.
Last quarter, they either increased or decreased pre-determined response levels on 739 occasions - up 29% increase on the previous quarter. This directly contributes to the achievement of our risk-based attendance standards and was further enhanced by the use of 999eye which was used nearly 1,000 times more, quarter on quarter.
