@Just Vlad I love your review videos. But considering how many have you done, which 3D printer would you recommend?? I'm mainly looking for high quality prints as the #1 most important feature. Reliability is #2... and speed is a very distant 3rd. So which 3D printer would you recommend for a 300x300 printer?
@dangerous8333
@dangerous8333 2 года назад
@@TheNature101 If all you want is high quality prints you can do that with a basic Ender 3 v2 or something in that price range. For more money you're not necessarily getting better prints. You're getting a more workhorse capable machine, faster prints or both. Doesn't sound like you need a CoreXY though.

For the PTFE tubing, I sealed both ends with hot glue. Got some water boiling in a wok (yes a wok, the slope of the sides work better than a pot). Dipped the tubing in the water and removed the sharp bends. It's much safer than a hot air gun because water can't get hotter than 100°C.

I think you have a "v1.1" instead of a "v1" as you mentioned in the description. The v1 has some room for improvement, but I don't think the v1.1 has improved the parts that needed it most. Only real improvement is having all steppers being silent, but that does not warrant the heavy price-lift from v1 to v1.1. The glass bed and "access door to the board" just don't sound worth it either. They could have saved on the belt coupling the z motors. There are 5 steppers, right? So, each z motor has its own stepper? Then what use is the belt, since it disallows driving them separately and hence you cannot use auto z leveling if you have a bl-touch or othe probe - which they really should supply for a 30x30 bed. The hotend also seems problematic, probably PTFE-lined and hence not suitable for higher temperature and limiting the speed you can go - and with a long bowden the long retractions will further expose the hotend flaws!
@Nobody-Nowhere
@Nobody-Nowhere 3 года назад
Printed fine 240mm/s with stock parts. And i have the v1 model.. it costs 330$ including shipping currently.. i paid more for it has been great for the money. The reason for the belt i simply to have both z motors mechanically synched so the bed stays level. I did that on my previous printer before i got this one, because its pretty much essential in keeping the z level. The hotend is not PTFE lined. Its not amazing, but the whole hotend with all the parts costs like 10$... so i can have replacement hand if it fails. I have had no need to upgrade anything in it... at some point i will tweak and tune it, but for no.. running stock firmware and stock parts, and prints fast & clean.
@MisterkeTube
@MisterkeTube 3 года назад
@@Nobody-Nowhere Your heat-break does not have the PTFE tube run all the way down until it hits the nozzle? So basically you received one with an all-metal heat-break? Strange, I have seen no other reports of the Sapphire coming with anything else than a hollow heat-break passing down the PTFE tube ... As for the belt: in my eyes having a belt is a must if you have a single Z motor or if you have 2 Z motors driven by a single driver (since then anyway the motors are getting the exact same pulses at the exact same time). But having a belt between 2 motors with separate drivers makes little sense. Ok, you can get some more torque because the 2 separate drivers can deliver more current than a single one, but at the same time, the motors will be "fighting" each other. If one tries to move just slightly before the other gets its pulse, you have one of them trying to turn and the other one trying to hold things in place. Ok, the belt will likely be flexible enough to make this a minor problem, but still the belt in my eyes just puts unnecessary extra strain on both motors and lead-screws. Even with a belt, you cannot rely on the Z axis not sagging, so you anyway need to home Z after turning the steppers off.

I am guessing the reason for numbering the parts rather than using text labels makes internationalisation easier. By having numbers, the same bag of parts can be shipped to each country with simply the manual being tailored to the local language (this having to be tailored for each language anyway).

@@dangerous8333 it's definitely a "kit" and not a polished product. But I wanted an entry point with "solid bones" that I could make my own. This is the best CoreXY I could have chosen. I'm very pleased. It shows clear signs of constant improvement based on feedback that can be found in RU-vid reviews. The only issue mine had was that the Extruder Steps were set to exactly half of what they should have been. I was still getting great prints but they were weak. Now I'm just getting great prints.

@@RichardBronosky I agree, and I don't mind kits. I was getting ready to build a Voron. I'm glad to hear you like it cause I just bought one👍. Amazon has a $40 off coupon right now. Arrives Saturday. Got a V6 on the way and I'm making a list of other things it needs. Trying to do this smart so I don't make any unnecessary upgrades. What I meant about the other one having issues was for the $330 one, which was a different version. So you got a newer version with fixes. It's a more polished machine for that $479...if that makes you feel any better 👍. Granted it still needs things. Thanks for the heads up about the steps. I'll be sure to check that.

I just bought an Ender 5 Plus 3 days ago and wish I hadn't it has been one fault after another, all the rods and leadscrews are bent and the GUI is a joke, if you have printed anything higher than 250mm the GUI won't send the bed to z home so you have to initiate another print and then cancel it once the bed has risen, I paid £178 more with Amazon than I would have by getting it direct from Creality for the security of buying a dud, I am seriously considering sending it back and getting this one!

This machine is very well thought out. Even the Z screws have an old ham style coupler design with machined cut outs for the brass nut to move around in helping eliminate Z banding. During the build I only found the 2020 extrusion to be poorly mounted at the ends where it meets the 2040 extrusion corners. Instead of having a screw go through the 2040 extrusion it simply has a socket cap screw that screws into the 2020 extrusions ends and slots into the 2040. Not a real big deal. Also some sort of belt tensioner for the Z steppers would be nice incase it loosens up in the future(mine was good from factory though). Really an ideal machine.

Forgot to mention as of oct 5th 2021 the current version sapphire plus on Amazon comes with the newest extrusion, lattice glass bed, dual belted Z steppers but no auto Z leveling. The linear rails were all very impressive vs the ebay MGN12s and HGR15s I have purchased in the past.
