I don't remember how he scored the tickets but my Dad took me and my brother to this game. I remember the crowd being so loud and just hanging out at the now Lavell Edwards Stadium for as long as my Dad would let us. Absolutely epic and Ty was the real deal...BYU's got Ty Power!

It was one of the best nights of my life! The game was so incredible. The entire student body and Provo felt full of electricity!!

I had just got married about a month before and that was my first BYU football game. We received a new VCR for our wedding and I set the recorder so we could rewatch the game later. Found out when we got home that with that particular VCR you had to shut the power off in order for it to record. It was a very fun game to witness.

I attended that game... it's the day I became a BYU football fan.

I was a flight instructor in the navy in Corpus Christi Texas, my student had tickets from a friends family who couldn’t go because of a wedding. I took mom and dad, outside the stadium people were waving $100. Bills around trying to buy entrance. It was one of the best moments in BYU history and a memory I cherish. The flight there and back was fun also.

First game I ever attended at BYU, what a start, what a memory. Stormed the field after that game. I still have the light blue tie/Ty they handed out later to promote Ty for the Heisman Trophy. Ty wasn't the biggest guy but he played huge, with guts and skill. So many times he completed a pass when he was half in to being sacked. Pure magic. Ty-Thanks for the memories!

I was at the B.Y.U. dormitory about a 1/2 mile from the stadium during the game. Every time Ty completed a pass, I could hear the croud roar. A few years latter, I was browsing through books at what is now the Utah Valley State College bookstore, and did a double-take when I saw a book cover titled "Into the Eye of the Hurricane," and realized somebody wrote a BOOK about that game. Epic.

They didn't show Ty's best play of all that game. Down near the end zone, two Miami defenders closing in on him, Detmer took a quick step back at the last possible second and the two defenders collided into each other. Ty then found Mike Salido for the game-winner.

That's a good look for Eli.

Miami Hurricanes in their heyday were far more dominant than Saban's Alabama. In the 80's and 90's there were no college playoffs from which Saban has taken great advantage.
