As a Gibbs fan, I will take the comment as a win 🥇. I know why he has a ride, that’s a given. If I had the last name Gibbs, Hendrick, Penseke, etc I would be doing the same thing. But the kid can drive, your equipment can only get you so far. The driver still has to make it 500ish miles, and he proved this year he can do that. His father passing away last year I feel has a lot to do with how much he matured this year. That’s a lot for a 20 year old to go through and either break or make it.
Call me morbid or in bad taste or whatever, but I think the loss of his father changed him. Ever since the end of last year, it seems like he isn’t as prone to anger as he was last year. I will say, he also is a much nicer guy to meet in person than he was in his Xfinity regular days. I’m expecting a very similar season to 2023, plus a playoff appearance. 2025 and beyond tho, watch out for Ty Gibbs
The loss of a parent will change you. I'm glad to see his change is a healthy one. As much as it suck it seems like he is stepping up to be a man his father would be proud of. I didn't think I was gonna like him, but I was wrong. I can't wait to see where he goes as a driver, and it'll give me and kids another driver to cheer for.
@@ManyOts exactly. He could’ve easily fallen off the deep end, got into drugs and threw everything away. But he didn’t and this performance over the year showed he made improvements each and every week.
Ty Gibbs' performance in the Bristol night race reminded me of Erik Jones in that same event in 2017 He's a driver that's steadily channeling his fast pace and aggressiveness similar to a young Kyle Busch. I expect him to make the playoffs in 2024
My main concern with Gibbs coming to Cup was him being too aggressive in Xfinity but if he keeps driving like he did this year, he could certainly win multiple races next year.
The only silver spooner that isn't a hack, in rigged equipment, or drives recklessly. He actually has a chance with the hidden potential he has, ever since the Clash this hear, he has had a bit of a Top pack finish most of the time
Did you watch any of his interviews this year, same entitled victim he has always played, need proof, watch his interview after the wreck at Daytona night, direct quote “what are you trying to rub it in” after being asked the super tough question of how do you feel after getting knocked out of the playoffs, he’s the same immature brat he’s always been
Has a lot of comparisons with my favorite driver, Dale Jr. But this kid is in an era where the equipment is so good team to team, you have to be talented to do well. My kid loves Ty, we'll be pulling for him. Hope he keeps his temper in check and just drives up to his potential.
Ty is surely JGR's next "franchise driver" in the Cup Series for the foreseeable future. With that being said, I think it's time to bring back the 18, since it has been and always will be JGR's flagship number. It might take next season or two to make this a possibility, but I would like that number to make a comeback. Nonetheless, Ty really gave the number 54 a big justice.
I always laugh when I see people crying about him being silver spoon or "only there because of his last name". Yeah, sure, it helped him a lot, no doubt, but he's an incredibly talented driver and he would be here regardless of his name. I kind of cheer for him and I think he'll be good for the sport. People will love to hate him even more once he wins races and fights for titles. I just hope he maintains his aggression and kinda rough approach because we need drivers like that, we need personalities and we need controversies. I love Larson, I really like Chase Elliott, Bell, I like Byron but these guys are just so freaking boring. So I'd love to see Ty Gibbs being a little bit of brat sometimes, rough on and off track. We need this. And yeah, I think he'll have tremendous career
I can't get behind liking Kyle Larson because all he did was wreck his own teammate Chase Elliott who is my favourite Driver I definitely agree they can be a little vanilla but can you really call Chase Elliott vanilla because he did some awesome paybacks on Hamlin and on harvick and chastain I agree he will be a championship contender but I would hold your roll about him winning multiple Championships we will just Wait and see if and when that happens if at all and on a Side note is that what we are calling asshole now personality🤔😄❤️✌️
@@JordanCasagrande yeah, Elliott had some good paybacks and his "happy Christmas and merry offseason" was pretty cool. But in general he just is you know, vanilla. And I really like him too. And I never said Gibbs will win multiple titles, it remains to be seen but he absolutely has great potential for it. And for assholes - well, it's not that having a personality means being an asshole but if you're an asshole at least there's something about you that can't be said about bunch of others. You can just say something about such driver, assholes provoke emotions, discussions and controversies
Ok i have a hot take, i think that Ricky Hendrick if he was still with us (RIP) people would have had the same feelings they have with Ty Gibbs today, and i know what you gonna say "that Ty Gibbs was an over agressive driver" and you are 100% right but again unfortunately we didn't truly saw what could Ricky would have done in a full time ride with HMS, maybe he would have been as aggressive as Ty Gibbs during his rookie years or would have been a clean driver. The point that i want to give is that "Owner Kids" are less appreciated than Underdogs
You do realize before his death he had already retired from racing in 2002, he was the owner of Brian vickers cup car and Kyle Busch’s Busch series car. He had no plans to return to racing and had even made the statement he didn’t have the talent to be a top tier racer which I respect. It’s not that Ty is the owners son, it’s that he’s a arrogant self entitled brat, who compared the way he was hated by fans to the fact that Jesus was hated when he was alive, he’s tone deaf and out of touch with the reality around him.
As long as he can keep his pit crew next season, then yes he'll be a dominant force in the Cup Series. He's had a good amount of chances to win but, unfortunately the crew that he had was unfortunately not the one that he had at the beginning. I thought that it was a terrible idea for him to have to switch crews for the benefit of another driver. Also he needs a new sponsor so that there can be more than just the part time sponsor for a diecast to sell.
@S.K.R.E.Inc. yes and no. They don't want to be on a diecast. You can't have a primary that doesn't want their brand on a diecast, that's not good for merchandising purposes. And Interstate Batteries is only just a small handful of races now kind of like how STP only appears one race a year for the 43 now.
Think the sponsor dilemma is one of the reasons HBSE got the branding & merchandise ownership stake at JGR. Plus if JGR gets new sponsors, then interstate can focus more on Gibbs
@M3RK_54 Interstate started scaling back their sponsorship over the years. That's why Mars Inc was the primary sponsor for Kyle when he was in the 18 and Interstate was the co sponsor. Just like how GM GOODWRENCH faded away from RCR when Harvick took over and how Home Depot died off shortly before Stewart left JGR. Interstate Batteries even said that they were going to scale back with their sponsorship for JGR but, not completely go away.
Ty has really grown on me this year. He’s seems to have shown that he’s matured a lot since his Xfinity and Arca days. I see a win for him next year or at the very least a playoff appearance.
I think it’ll be similar to Chase Elliott in 2017 Kid is damn talented and I don’t think he’ll win but he’ll have 4-5 really good shots to win a race But if he does win I will be happy to be wrong and I believe I will be wrong
TYY!! NO ONE IS TRYING TO JINX YOU, IF YOU HAVE A BAD SEASON, ITS BECAUSE YOU SUCK, PLUS YOU ARENT THE FIRST PERSON TO COME TO ME TODAY CLAIMING TO BE JINXED! GRANDPA! WHO ELSE IS SAYING THEY ARE JINXED, ALSO I DONT SUCK!! *Hamlin walks in* HEY JOE EVERY YEAR IS MY YEAR BUT SOMEONE KEEPS JINXING ME BECAUSE ITS NEVER MY FAULT IF I DONT WIN. ALSO TY, I HEARD THE ENGINEERS SAYING THAT YOU WERE DOING SOME SERIOUS SUCKING IN THE GARAGE BATHROOM EARLIER TODAY! *Grandpa face palms* I SHOULDVE FIRED HAMLIN AND KEPT BUSCH, AND I SHOULDVE SENT TY TO MILITARY SCHOOL!
I can 2 wins but won’t be surprised if he goes winless. As for Ty changing from the Xfinity to Cup. That’s a whole mental thing that I wouldn’t touch. Definitely can see Denny Martin and even Chris., looking the door and turning the lights off while they tell him to calm the f’ down and behave.
I don’t see Gibbs making the playoffs next year, but I think he’ll show a strong uptick in performance. I could see him putting up a few winning performances next year. It’s crazy to say this but Gibbs is underrated. He’s one of the most talented drivers to come into NASCAR in the last few years. He matured a lot this year and I think next year will continue that pattern. And he’s only 21, so he has a way to go. I’m not putting all my eggs in the anti-Gibbs basket yet because I think he has a promising career ahead.
At least the kid didn’t piss off too many people this year. I just don’t like rich kids being handed everything instead of blue collar talent being overlooked.
SO tired of the rich kid, silver spoon blah, blah blah! Ty's a talent, one to be reckoned with for many years to come. And oh, by the way, truth be told, Nascar hasn't been a blue collar sport for MANY years. MONEY and CONNECTIONS are the basis for securing a ride in all three series.
What are you crazy like Jeff Gordon that's insulting do not compare ty Gibbs to Jeff Gordon he will never be like Jeff Gordon as a fan of Jeff Gordon that's insulting to us Jeff Gordon fans😁❤️✌️
@@elitegamer21005 This is not a pro or anti Ty Gibbs remark. But I dunno. Ty Gibbs has yet to win a Cup Series race. Jeff Gordon has won 93 races and 4 championships.
@@cito1101IM A CHAMPION OF THE SPORT! AND YES I WON MOST POPULAR DRIVER! I KNOW IT SAYS ELLIOTT BUT ITS ALL FAKE NEWS! ELLIOTT HAS THAT EXTRA STASH OF VOTES! I WOULD HAVE WON IF IT WERENT FOR THE MICKEY MOUSE CHEATER!!!
@@cito1101 BUT GRANDPA!!! I WON IT FOR YOUR RACE TEAM, TY GIBBS RACING! AND I WANT TO BE THE MOST POPULAR DRIVER, AND IT ALWAYS GOES TO AN ELLIOTT OR AN EARNHARDT AT HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS. IF YOU WONT HELP ME, THEN I WANT TO CHANGE MY NAME TO EARNHARDT AND DRIVE FOR HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS, AND RENAME IT TO TY EARNHARDT MOTORSPORTS!!!
Bold prediction; Ty makes the championship 4, he will have a very similar season to 2022 Chastain, won a couple of races: and barely do enough to keep afloat during the playoffs to make it to Phoenix.
He's going to be in the playoffs likely due to a win Don't think he'll be an on track villain, rather a person people won't like/forgive for his Xfinity days and being coach's grandson
nah ty is gonna be a great driver and win 2x next year i think . and i hate it cause i think his true colors are gonna show . when he runs 12th every week , he wont care , when he starts running 5th all the time his true colors will show .... just like joey logono
@@anncroft7429 put him in a position like 2022 fall martinsville and we’ll see if he’s changed. I don’t wanna sound like I’m making excuses for hating him but put him in situations like martinsville 2022(both races) glen last year and Richmond 2022 with guys like Hamlin , logono , Carson , larson and we’ll see if he’s actually changed.
Surprise? I expect him to win 2-3 races next year and make the playoffs. He's got superior talent that just needs experience. He really progressed throughout last season.
I still don't like the kid, but he has the talent for sure. Someone else mentioned it, but the unfortunate, sudden loss of his dad I think humbled him, and made him mature. Still has his moments where he reverts back, but he wasn't near as hot headed as i think many expected him to be. He'll get smarter and better, and will likely get a title or two. Still won't get me to pull for him though lol
Corporate sponsors, fans and broadcasters forced out the villains of NASCAR. I wish Ty Gibbs wears the Black Hat, as we really need a villain. There are too many do-and-say-the-right-thing guys now.
😂😂😂 Noah could not even finish the Snowball Derby!!! He caused the big one in that race. He will keep Carson company in the back again this year. Let’s see how many times he can hit tire barriers 😂
I don't like little baby Gibby for the reason that like Dillon and Cindric, they only get to race, for they're respective team, because of a family connection. Plus, I hate his ass cause old ass Gibbs booted my guy Busch just for the kid. Though I must admit he is the most talented rookie that comes to my mind in YEARS, so he'll probably do pretty damn good in the coming years. P.S. Baby Gibby will not be more hated than Hamlin. Hamlin is the bad guy til retirement.
Ty at least has a chance at the cup level to right the wrongs that he did in Xfinity and in his reserve role for Kurt (Overaggressive on track, Fight with a helmet on, wreck his teammate for a win he didn't need but his teammate did, compare himself to Jesus, pit road antics). He is young and has time to change opinions. Hamlin will always be the bigger villain because he is in his 40s and he does stupid and petty crap on track while blaming everyone else. His chances of redemption to the Majority of the Nascar fanbase are long gone.
I'll wait until he proves it to say I'll be surprised. Remember, Logano was "the next big thing" and didn't really show full potential until he LEFT Gibbs.
@@S.K.R.E.Inc. He was in a Gibbs Toyota then to Penske Ford. Took over Tony Stewarts 20 car after Gibbs switched to Toyota. Word had it that Tony left because of the change from Chevy to Toyota.
I can’t stand the kid and I don’t want him to do well but unfortunately he’s gonna win races at some point because of his grandpa giving him all the best equipment. Future champion? idk about that one yet. He’s definitely better than the other silver spoons of Cindric and the Dillons, but I don’t see him being better than guys like Larson, Busch, Hamlin, Bell, and Reddick. I see Bell actually being the face of JGR for years to come.
He might get an Cup win or 2 next season but far as a championship contender he's not quite there yet. Especially if he has a good crew behind him. Now 2025 he could make an strong playoff run and maybe 26 or 27 could get a championship.
Kyle Busch was hated for years while he was a star. Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon too. Same with Johnson (when he was winning the championship every year.) Denny Hamlin is in HIS prime and everyone hates him, including me.
He might improve but he's gonna be a Heel for years to come. Especially after that nightmare at Daytona. "We replaced Kyle for this!? What the hell Joe!?" He might improve but that first impression has little to do with his youth and everything to with his attitude and his grandfather.
Barely anyone talked about who Dale Jr father was an yet ended up being overrated so if Ty Gibbs grandfather has everything to do with what he does it's ridiculous and shallow.
I stick to my comment if they have wrecked their teammates they should be kicked out of NASCAR permanently I don't care who you were or what your name is if you're out there to wreck your own teammate just to win a race then you're not going to win championships
