Sajin is a fascinating character with a unique attribute: he nullifies the boosts and debuffs from Heart and Mind units. This means that characters like Yhwach, Yamamoto, and Meninas will be unable to apply their boost/debuff as long as Sajin is alive.
Yhwach, who heavily relies on his boost, becomes almost useless against Sajin. Although Yhwach has both attribute and killer advantage over Sajin as a Heart unit with Captain Killer, Sajin's additional Flurry likely gives him the upper hand in most battles. Moreover, Sajin is immune to Yhwach’s paralysis.
Sajin, a Mind unit with Captain Killer and Sternritter Killer, has both attribute and killer advantage over Meninas. However, Meninas, being a Heart unit with Captain Killer, also has attribute and killer advantage over Sajin and comes with an additional Flurry (10 seconds). This makes Meninas a viable counter to Sajin. Meninas gains 60% Low Stamina Damage Boost (LSDB) while Sajin has a 60% Increased Normal Attack Damage (NAD) at half stamina. Thus, Meninas could potentially counter Sajin effectively, and Sajin might not be essential for every team.
Orihime remains unaffected by Sajin as he doesn't have a human killer or prevent Tech (or Speed or Power) units from using their boosts and debuffs. This makes Orihime crucial for the team since her debuff can turn the tide of battle.
With Yhwach’s boost nullified, we need another unit to serve as a booster. Although there hasn't been a meta booster released since Yhwach, TYBW Chad has the same boost with the booster skill. Unfortunately, Chad lacks brave battle immunity and piercing immunity, making him a temporary solution until a proper booster is released. Chad has Flurry +1 and deals 100% damage to enemies not afflicted with an ailment. Since neither Sajin nor Orihime inflict ailments, Chad can fit this role. However, with multiple enemies having immunity, Chad’s primary role will be to provide a boost. Other NAD characters with booster skills can be used, but their performance may vary based on your league. You might need to adjust Chad or other boosters to ensure favorable matchups in each fight.
I'm building my Chad with a traditional attack-based build (for the melee Sternritter guild quest, avoiding rerolling his 6th slot between ATK and DEF). For survivability, a defense build with DEF in the 6th slot, along with a guitar, gold chappy, and chappy all rolled with 30% DEF, might be more beneficial.
My main team includes Sajin, Orihime, and Chad. Alternatively, you could run a triple persistence team, swapping Chad for Meninas, but this leaves you vulnerable to enemy debuffs. If you don't have Sajin, Meninas can counter him with someone like Chad for boosts. Your results may vary based on your league, build quality, and general transcendence level. You can also continue using Yhwach when the enemy doesn't have Sajin.
Sajin and Orihime are equipped with LSDB and ATK, while Chad has LSDB and Dodge. For a DEF build, opt for DEF on Chad. Typically, I use the Attack strategy, but with the current boost/debuff meta, I've switched to Special strategy for more HP and delayed boost and debuff, aiming to override the enemy.
As more players pull Sajin through this banner and his individual, team compositions will stabilize. I might create a follow-up video showcasing teams with Sajin if there's interest in that content.
