Just a smooth record that I love and hold dear. Thanks Scott, for such a smooth ride. Make sure to check out his work both as Tycho and ISO50. (Only for entertaining porpouses, not copyright infrigement intended)
That's literally all i did today, ate mushrooms, and disc golfed, long boarded, and listened to four tycho albums straight through, best sunday funday of my life.
It never ceases to amaze me that the vast majority of people in the world who listen to radio pop and who hate "all that electronic music shit" are allowing their narrow-mindedness to rule them, and will never understand how beautiful many of these genres are. And that makes me sad for them. I feel music like Tycho or Bonobo or a whole host of other artists is some sort of well kept secret, and I consider myself privileged to know about it.
Tycho and Bonobo are super mainstream artists lol. Don't they play at like major festivals?? I mean I guess this comment is from 6 years ago but even then they were still very popular.
Scott is releasing this FOR REAL Thursday February 16, 2023! Yea! Finally. Thank you for providing this here. I hope everyone who reads this will now go to buy it from Scott to pay him back for all the beautiful joy these sounds have given us over the years. If I could only keep, have, and listen to one Tycho album, this would be it.
Well it already HAS been released on CD back in '02. You can find 'em but not cheap. The LP record comes out 28th July. Much more reasonable price too.
Being In the zone is a real thing look at anime like kuroko basketball and max Holloway performance against calvin kattar I get what u mean with this music it’s pure focus
That first song has got to be the most relaxing thing to ever enter my ear drums. Makes me want to smoke a blunt and sit in the jungle with the birds and watch the rain fall on the leaves and fruit.
I always love this section of RU-vid because everyone just chills out and takes everything in, rather than fanning the flames of hate and ignorance. We are the peace, people! Whooo! ^0^)/
Seriously what the fuck are these comments? Come now children father will straighten you out. All the lovey dovey peace shit you can return to the loose bowel it slipped out of, your jerk off session in the comments section isn't doing anything but feeding your personal delusions, which is literally feeding ignorance. To you sweet whiny sunshines, don't talk shit until you can give it exquisite form, otherwise you're expressing ignorance just like the flimsy snowflakes. Keep crankin' the shaft gents.
i grew up to this music... "Dream as Memory"... so easy to drift back, and see all of their faces, their smiles... life is a trip :/ RIP to those that left us.
+Kevin Myrick great description. completely agree, haven't been able to put my finger on the exact main difference between their sounds but that sums it up
Tyler Stewart hate to break it to you guys but there are no real instruments in this entire mix. The reason BOC sounds different is because they use all vintage hardware, and experiment with different distortions and recording styles, and they are known to mix electronic beats with actual percussion. Tycho's new stuff has lots of live instrumentation but this old stuff is all digital.
@@krb4420 I mean, to be fair, even sampled sounds are generally recorded from live instrumentation. I.E. most higher-end synths have patches from instruments. That being said, not really sure what software, etc. He used on this, so hard to be sure. But I'm definitely gonna check out Boards of Canada. They're been on my list awhile, but I think this is going to be the determining factor. ✌🏼
Tracklist: Dream As Memory 0:00 Human Condition 3:50 Red Bridge 8:55 Systems 15:05 In The End (Bonus Track) 21:19 The album ends there. Uploader repeats Human Condition and Dream As Memory again for unknown reason.
+DB742 So I remembered this album well for a reason. Back in '03 I was a broke recent grad from an art school for graphic design. Scott Hansen's graphic design was getting noticed under his ISO50 name and I stumbled onto his music by accident (which was only this album then). I wrote him a short email saying how much I liked his stuff and would buy his tunes if I wasn't struggling. He sends me a short thanks reply and a link to a free download of the album; a kind gesture I never forgot. Way before artists gave away music downloads to self-promote. A kickass dude, for sure.
+DB742 I remember in 2009ish when I was a poor graphic design student, finding Tycho and being so drawn to the album art. When I learned Scott was a graphic designer, it was a huge motivational burst for me.
Wish I could broadcast this to all my friends and family and get them to understand me. This music absolutely says it all. Hope someone cares enough to play it at my funeral. Meanwhile I sink into the glorious oblivion this beautiful music provides
+AlthoughNotAFollower That's a generalization and a half. Its true this style of music is pretty dam common now though you obviously lack the ears for subtlety. Why not get off your high horse and do something worthy with your 'knowledge of electronic music' and share these less accessible but better artists?
I promise just found this yesterday while doing some art been playing it every since been looking for a vibe like this rabbit hole club put me on a new sound style vibe that ties to my everyday life....

Keep doing what you're doing as we shall all live in harmony with one another. Peace must be found within before peace will reign. Don't be chained by the thought of death for it matters not. Where there is life there is death. When you are alone you yet are not. For life is all around us. While you ponder by the lake you hear the owls hoot, crickets chirp, deer walking through the forest, fish jumping, and the ripples of the atoms that surround you. You have been given this chance. Right here right now. The chance of life. A gift within itself. Sow the seeds of healing, so that this world can heal with us and us with it. You are beautiful and there is a reason that you are reading this right now. We are in an endless river of energy. Be invigorated and why not just make someone smile today? How about tomorrow? Or the next day? When someone is down bring them up. You may have just saved someones life.
How have I never listened to this? Thanks Cosmos for bringing me here! Just finished my first Envision Festival and have been dreaming of Tycho's sets at the Burning Man for years now... Since college I have used it to study, chill, drive, meditate, and even dance and party, it is always riffs and good vibes! Just just recalled of a few months their performance in Tivoli at Utrecht and the videos of waves... Their music has been surfing my brain for years now! Spectacular discovery. GRACIAS !
Uvwaex ^-^ close, i'm 19. I've never really been interested in any Drugs though. I don't see the appeal. I'm all for the right for people to use benign drugs like marijuana
Esta es una de las mejores cosas que están sonando hoy en día. Elegante, sofisticada, relajada pero a la vez movida, levemente melancólica. Suelo patinar por Santiago escuchando este disco y es todo un trip. Respect Thyco
Exactly the sound I was looking for this morning - the suggestion popped up after I had been listening to some Steve Jansen - ex Japan - Sylvian's brother. Wonderful compositions - it's as though you have merged science and art, not the most obvious of bedfellows. Art knows no limits whilst science operates within the defined un chaotic structure that the creator delivered. Thank you.
Glad you like it, lad. I couldn'tbelieve this wasn't uploaded when I found it. Red Bridge is the perfect tune for pretty much everything in life , love that track .
Tycho was my gate to eventually finding and settling down with CBL and other ambient composers. Sometimes I revisit my past self and relisten to Tycho and other artists and rediscover their music. Feels good :)
For some reason, Tycho always resinates with me. Whether studying until your eyes feel like falling out, or strolling through foggy mountains with your friends and embracing all around. Thank you for this sweet, sweet music.
tycho attended Prof. Keith Devlin's "Intro to Mathematical Thinking." Coursera online class to derive the title of this. That's Devlin's definition of Mathematics.
