Superb ,what else can I say ! As soon as I saw this tying I got my bits boxes out to attempt a tying myself all the little trimmings I saved that you told us to keep and my treasured packets of Coq de Leon I bought a while back and locked away as I was scared to use it having paid more than I admitted to my wife much like a jungle cock cape I bought over twenty five years ago from the angling centre which is nearly bare Disaster one of our farm cats got in the window of my man cave and made off with my Coq de Leon feathers I had just opened and left on my desk twenty quids worth Gone I searched the garden but all I could find was feathers from our ducks and hens Now I will have to use substitutes I was so looking forward to tying a few dries and trying them out but it’s had me make a decision that I will use materials and festhers I buy and not squirm them away like Scrooge and his money Once again your patterns and things are excellent as is the video and narrative the posh accent with the occasional slip into the accent of the shire is as always so entertaining thank you Davie

This is a wonderful pattern. They're expensive and surprisingly tricky to tie. I make them as presents for friends, but they only get one each. The original has a silk body, so I stick to that, but your dubbed body looks great. To avoid catching the CdL when winding the hackle, I slide on a short length of slit drinking straw, and that just slips off when the hackle is wound-on and secure. You managed the fly in 12:00. For me, this is a 20:00 fly - at least. It's not a beginner fly.

Love the pattern but too rich for my budget. Can I ask an inexperienced question. Would the fly work without the poly post and hackle? I’m trying to understand what purpose (other than a last second hint of a wing as a fish rises) the CdL serves.

Yet another beautiful fly. I haven't fished a parachute pattern in years because when I cast them they tend to put twists into my leader. Any ideas on what causes that?
