Tying a Skein, Determining Yardage of Handspun Yarn and Measuring Wraps per Inch 

In order to keep any sticky residue from the scotch tape getting onto my WPI (wraps per inch) stick, or onto any portion of my yarn I simply cut a small notch or groove into the end of the WPI stick and slip one end of my yarn into the notched anchor point. Then I carry the yarn down the length of the WPI stick until I get to the beginning of the measurement line, and continue to roll the WPI stick to load the yarn evenly as you show. This technique creates a nice starting point without having to fiddle with tape. =^D I enjoyed watching your video and subscribed right away. I'm looking forward to getting back into spinning and knitting after having to pack up my yarn and needles for months in preparation for an overseas move. Doesn't it make a difference what the diameter of the down rod is to calculate the wpi?
