The Longhorn Zenith is a novel friction hitch which was recently introduced by JRB, ideal for doubled rope climbing applications such as DSRT, DRT/MRS. Although it can be used in SRT applications, the Longhorn Agile Hitch is preferred. This presentation shows how to tie the hitch and several variations. Related Videos:

Should the guys in the 300lb club stick with the LHA due to the LHZ using a smaller cord? Or is it ok to use larger cord on the LHZ, like 7mm on 9.5 for DSRT?

I took a survey in my Facebook group recently about which hitch the gang preferred on DSRT and the voting was in favor of the LA, not the LZ. And that was regardless of weight of the climber. The LA can be used without the "double shove" for example. One hand can push both up. The LZ needs a double shove because it bites a bit harder. And so why not go with LA for now. Get your technique down. And if u wanna try an LZ sometime, you can simply take off the LA and transform it into an LZ.

@@jrbtc I guess my error in thought was that 6mm TRC has a lower MBS than 7mm, but I looked it up and I was wrong
