I looked down a ways in the comments and didn't see it, so a bit of explanation about Feathered Indians. Tyler Childers has worn a Red Man chewing tobacco belt buckle for years. That's why his belt buckle left impressions of little Feathered Indians on the inside of her thigh.

Appreciate the video. We are awful proud of Tyler here in Eastern Kentucky. The hardships of the area make for amazing stories and his lyrics bring them to life.

Yeah, I read "Hillbilly Elegy" last year and it painted quite a picture about Kentucky and the "Hillbilly Highway" to Ohio and Michigan. I admire anyone who survives some of that, let alone succeeds like Tyler has.

@@RockN2Country Just to let you know, "HillBilly Elegy" was just one man's experience and that book made a lot of Appalachians pretty angry. There's more to us then just poverty.

Thank you, BSD! And what a treat for you to be able to thank him personally. I got to thank Gregg Allman about ten years ago when the Allman Bros. were playing at the Beacon in NYC, and he was a true Southern gentleman when I thanked him for all of these years of great music (I was backstage for the concert). He turned and looked right at me and said, in a very warm voice, "You're welcome." A simple exchange like that will live on with me my whole life.

What’s funny is I’m actually less than an hour away from his home. His songs like Coal, nose to the grindstone, whitehouse road, and deadmans curve talk about the exact problems in the area of coal country. But many can’t understand the meaning of his music. I know this song is completely different than my topic but the point stands

Yeah, the lyrics say, "If I'd known she was religious, I wouldn't have came stoned...," not, "...known she was an angel, etc." The line about smoking American Spirits ciggs, she asks if he's heard they're harmful, Tyler says til now there's not been anything he couldn't leave behind. I feel like he isn't questioning if he will stay. He's saying until meeting her, he's never had anyone who he couldn't leave. This record is bluegrass, folk music and old country!! LOVE IT/Him/Thoughtful lyrics! Jenny in Nashville

Ray Wylie Hubbard - “Snake Farm” or “Mother Blues” He’s a Texas legend that is one of my favorites and has been for a long time. He also just co-wrote the title track of Eric Church’s last album with Eric, Desperate Man. That is also one of if not my favorite albums of the year and every song is fantastic, but that’s what we expect from Church nowadays.

I just think the argument about old vs new country has to do with demographics and economics. In my humble opinion, if the music is good it shouldn't matter if it's old or new and it's subjective. My definition may be different to yours and that's ok. For me personally, good music provides the following for me: Tells a story, good lyrics and melody and I can identify with it.

@Nathan Paling Good catch, but it's not always easy with the pix that are provided with search engines. Short of having face-recognition technology built into my program (which would also let some images through), every once in a while a pic of an artist will slide through. I'm typically working with small images of artists in different venues and different lighting, and working with thousands of images over the course of a month, so if a couple get through it's just the nature of being human. I'll typically go to their FB pages or websites and get images from there, but even there it can be hard to tell with some of the pix whether it's the artist, a fan, a family member, or whatever.

I’m from Texas and I think you’re giving us too much credit. Most of the stuff coming out of here isn’t country so much as what i would call “frat-rock.” To me, the modern dichotomy in country music isn’t tied so much to geography as to the purpose of the music: is the artist making music that’s meant to be listened to, or music that’s meant to fill dead air and keep a party going? For Childers the answer is clearly the former, and he’s not from Texas (but Texas wants him anyway).

@Neal Donnelly LOL about you knowing where I was from!! I love that stuff. As far as you bumming about leaving Jersey for Long Island, I suppose it depends on where you are in Long Island. Long Island is gorgeous in so many places. I used to take my boat out in the Sound from Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City (across from lower Manhattan), and also used to spend time in Southampton when my sister had a summer rental out there with a bunch of her Wall Street buddies. And as far as you being 49 and older than me, good one!! I'll give you a hint, I am definitely older than you, my friend!! I just didn't want to grow old and boring, and what a better way to do it than start a reaction channel when I knew nothing about it when I started it? Ha!!

Interrupting ain't cool. Save the comments till the end of the thing.
@RockN2Country

Thanks for the instruction, but it's not the way reactions work, and the risk of being blocked is too great if you don't interrupt the songs. In some cases we have to interrupt the songs or RU-vid will give us a copyright strike and we might have the whole channel taken down. Check out virtually every reviewer and we stop the songs. When analyzing a song, a poem, a dance, a football game---anything---the purpose is to comment along the way. It's amazing that I, along with other reviewers, don't interrupt more given all the thoughts we have while listening to lyrics and instruments.

If you wanted to listen to the song why would you click on a review of the song, a review is supposed to be someone expressing there thoughts about the song ,and lyrics they found interesting, most music reviewers pause the song when they hear something they like/hate and then after they finish reviewing the song and finish their video then they'll listen to the full song without pausing
