He's got so much unresolved trauma that he's not even cognizant of. Not recognising his mother had to cope with the loss of the love of her life until now, is a clear indication of that. That said, frankly who doesn't? He's a normal dude. Nice, humble and seemingly authentically kind.

I used to work with Taye's mother in Rochester NY back in probably the early '80s. I knew she had a passel of kids and her husband 'didn't work much' or was otherwise unemployed but never knew any details. She worked so hard providing for those kids. Taye went to school at the Rochester School for the Arts (and I think also spent one year at The Harley School, a private school) when he was just an adolescent. He already had a reputation as a star, a beaming shining light!. I can see why, what an amazing young man. Hi to Marcia, I hope she is doing well. ❤

I like a couple of things. First, I like that Taye was able to get some insight into his mother's experience as a single parent. I'm interested to see what that allows him to contribute to his current relationship because there are some similar themes/experiences there.
