also worst part about leaks is seeing ppl hyping up an unfinished, unmastered, lowkey bad track and then the track comes out and they say it's bad because it's "different"
Sometimes the raw idea is dope. The artist knows THEY haven't finished it, but it's all art. Some prefer more, others prefer less, some prefer authenticity and some prefer a full package. There's no right or wrong. I love hearing demo tapes personally
to be honest sometimes the new version is just simply inferior to the original leak, happened to a couple of juice wrld songs, sometimes they fuck up the mixing for no reason for example
Missing some of the context in the clip, but T’s B Side comment is interesting.. to me, some of those tracks he’s referring to (Best Interest) are revered as much as IFHY etc etc esp at this point in his career Esp with the fan base he tries to cultivate w/ deeper engagement. I get the need to get “one more” Earfquake, See You Again’s for the sake of the festivals (and I don’t doubt he’ll get that on this next cycle)- but esp at CFG it’s safe to assume folks have dived into the catalog. It’s what I feel has been missing in the live show. Outside of the intro at CFG this year & sorry not sorry, the track listing was predictable.

One thing that I’ve hated about pop/ some rap artists that’s made its way into the punk scene is promo runs. By the time the album comes out, 1/3 or even 1/2 the songs were already released as singles, and you’ve heard most of the others as snippets. You sit down to listen to the new album and it doesn’t even feel new. We gotta bring back just dropping an album without the promo shit

Yet he probably consumed a lot of Kanye leaks for example. When you're fan, once it's out, it's out. I'm gonna listen to it. In Kanye's case, you get to see so much into what never materialized despite having potential or already being amazing. Mental illness like he has, has made him change drastically from one moment to another and sometimes shooting himself in the foot. So it sucks for him, but he'll survive some petty leaks. People still go and listen anyway. Only hardcore fans even care about leaks.

Don’t think that’s what he meant but yeah this new generation don’t understand the feeling of not having the web and just waiting patiently for an album release of your favorite artist and going out to buy it. Unraveling the cd, reading the booklet for song details and features while listening to it with your people in the whip. Good times man

the only leaks i can respect are when people leak it when its not going to be on an album, a new frank ocean song was just leaked for example but it was only leaked to the public since it was from the scrapped album (with DHL and In My Room)
