Tyler1 Has Done It Again

Well -- he’s done it again. Tyler1 reached the top 0.5% of rapid chess players on chess.com this week with a rating of over 1900 ELO.
When you translate that into an official FIDE rating - Tyler might be slowly approaching the level of a Chess Master - less than a year after he first started playing.
Even doubters like Hikaru are acknowledging that Tyler may be part of a transformation of this 1500 year old game that nobody could have predicted…

I agree that the statement seems odd but taken in full context I think it’s said more of how Tyler only plays one opening and one game style. @@adg9042 Sorry for the wall of text - Is not only that. Chess in most places is now harder to get into in the one hand, because video games have become widely and easily available, and is the easy to go thing for kids, but also what was explained in the video. The tools to improve in chess for those who wish to do so are the best and also easily available for everyone. Most of the time. For example, in League, most people are unable to reach Tyler's level because of ego/arrogance, and blaming others on your mistakes, even if you can't control all matches. That or just because it's easier/faster to one trick or abuse what is OP rather than playing and learning through the fundamentals of the game that can make you good with multiple champions/roles. Abusing strong picks IS still a good thing to do. On chess, you can't blame others for your mistakes, and most of it revolves around the fundamentals, so the potential to improve for someone who wants to do so is much higher. Of course, you have special cases of people who will reach higher highs than others.

how can you say that he is coping? he is not a 2000 rated player who is scared that t1 will achieve his goal so easily while he was trying so hard. he is 3k+ rated (i'm not sure about rapid though, but in blitz at least), he is a super GM (which is more important then online rating), one of the best players rn and have been in there for quite some time. i'm not glazing or something, it just is a fact, he is an expirienced chess player, who judging by his expirience made an assumption. as one would say, he litteraly doesn't even care, to be coping

I believe Tyler could sneak over 2000 at some point in the future, I don't see him maintaining it though as 2000 is where the hard cap starts, climbing through 2000 is what separates great chess players from good chess players
@dg3872
@dg3872 8 дней назад
It's also a lot harder to reach 2000 in blitz/bullet vs rapid due to a stronger pool of players aka rapid is about 2-300 points higher than blitz/bullet on avg. However, given his insane puzzle rating where he solves the puzzles pretty quickly, he should be able to break 2000 in blitz/bullet as well.

My statistical FIDE rating estimate is about 1630 while my chesscom blitz is almost 2000. Yeah that rating comparison is very inaccurate since it also depends how you play OTB and it's a classical rating which means very long time controls. I saw many of Tyler's games before, if I had to estimate his FIDE rating assuming that he plays better in slower chess than Rapid, I would guess 1350 (not me being rude to him but it's my opinion as an advanced intermediate player based on his strength)

@@7evYT I do very much give him a lot of props for his hard work and insanely fast progress, I also had a similar progress (I only knew the rules of chess in early 2020) but for me I improved without too much work and just watching youtubers. Seeing him get there with hard work is really nice to see honestly.
