The piece of metal looks like part of the speed range shifting fork. Since your tractor is a HST unit, please lightly press the forward and reverse pedals to change speed ranges. This helps line up the gears and shift collar to make shifting easier. Usually speed range change is difficult on all TYM tractors. Using this method, I doubt you will have any other problems. It is best you inform your dealer and have them pull the shift tower off the side of the transmission or drop a fiberscope in the transmission. Good video.

It was indeed a shift fork end that broke off dealer made repairs to it
@hasan7865
@hasan7865 4 месяца назад
You are 100% correct sir! I broke my shift fork in one day because it wouldn't shift easy from Medium to Low gear. Wish my dealer would've told me the trick about pressing forward and reverse pedals slightly to align the gears. I was without my new tractor for a few months until the part came in to fix it. Other than the cumbersome shifting shift, TYM is golden.

I will likely be getting a t494 mid 2024 and one of my first things to udgrade will be adding / building a skid plate for that fuel cell. Now that I see this I know I’ll need to think about that filter while building it.
@stevenklein1460
@stevenklein1460 Год назад
You did great on this vid. Man those filters were on way too tight! Some folks would slam cleaning the air filters but most do just like you at least a few times before buying new. I just got my 494 HST last week. I plan to treat it right like you do. I am in NW Louisiana, Shreveport.
@fredericksfarmandwoodwork4137
It's amazing how tight some people put filters on there is no reason for that whatsoever. I hope you enjoy your tractor keep me updated on how you like it

Thanks for the great content! I will definitely refer to this video when I go to do my own 50hr service. I take delivery of the exact same tractor in a couple weeks. Did you ever figure out what that chunk of metal was? I am curious to how dealers/TYM have handled issues and if it is done in a timely manor. Cheers!!!
@fredericksfarmandwoodwork4137
Thank you for you appreciation I hope it helps you won't be disappointed with your tractor I love mine just waiting to get time off from my day job to go to the dealer with the piece to get an update

When dealing with npt plugs it is good habit to just use pipe dope. Tape can dissolve and tear inside the system causing issues.

That's tough and becoming more and more prevalent unfortunately. The biggest part of a tractor purchase is the dealer relationship your purchasing as well. I have nothing but great things to say about my dealer. Also maybe time to invest in a few tools and start servicing your own machine to lessen downtime

So what's the verdict on the shifter fork fork repair? TYM is on the short list of possibilities for my next / bigger tractor for heavier work and some forestry use. I understand the quality of tractor dealership you work with is generally more important than the color of the paint, and your dealer's handling of this issue might give us some idea how TYM handles service issues.

I am curious, what kind of hydraulic fluid do you use? Is that the same as the front axle fluid or different? Also, are you supposed to do anything with fuel filters? If not for now, will you do a video on them as well when it is time?
@JeffZiegler76

@@theshanipaqman My dealer said to use 80w90 in the front axle & that matches my book. For trans fluid use TSC Premium Tractor Hydraulic Fluid.

you picked the most problem free machine. mech. fuel inj. the least computers in the industry and natural asp. (no turbo. ) quiet engine also. great pick ,i have 9 hours on mine. i will ck for update on spare parts in tranny. will they blow you off or wait a week or 8 years for the issue to show?
@fredericksfarmandwoodwork4137
I absolutely love the simplicity of the machine it was the selling point for me as well. My dealer is eager to solve the issue actually the hold up is me the tractor is at another property of mine in a different state I have to go get it when I have a weekend off from work and bring it back for them to fix so they are waiting on me actually and said it'll be a priority job when it comes in

I don't alot of guys do I just follow the hours schedule for the machine in the book. Only having a few machines I keep track of them mentally. it's definitely a good idea to do so.

@johnfrederick9778
@johnfrederick9778 Год назад
I believe this time I used car quest premium hydraulic oil. I buy what brand my local auto parts store has at the time. Just needs to be the better grade. The easiest way to tell is if it's the better oil is if it says it's Kubota UDT compatible fluid.

The manufacturer recommends 10w/40 or 10w/30 for the engine oil I was a bit confused by that all of the diesels I have ever owned shell Rotella 15w/40 was always suitable TYM seemed adamant not to use it
