The answer to the question, raised by this song, is that American Christianity is almost completely false as evidenced by the fruits of the supposed believers. This is true all over the country, not only in the South.
Dan is bluegrass, y'all only think this song/album because it doesn't sound like bluegrass. Go listen to his old GOOD stuff than come back here to support him.
Check the drum machine back beat, the auto-tuned vocal on the chorus, the electronic effects on the rhythm, Franklin. This is directed toward the same crowd that thinks Florida/Georgia Line is what Country is all about. Listen to the REAL thing and see the difference: Jamie Johnson, Dwight Yoakam, Gillian Welch, and even Tyminski ten years back when he hadn't yet decided to be the next Brad Paisley.
