To my (across the pond) British 2d cousin… thank you for your service to the crown and the empire. 🇬🇧 R.I.P ..Pvt. Fredrick Edward Croker .. 6th Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment 🇬🇧 Died Oct 11,1917 at the age of just 19yrs old. Even thou i never knew or met you ..im thinking of you and i love you dear cous. 🇺🇸. Kia/Mia in the third battle of Ypres in the Battle of Passchendaele
Intending to travel over to pay my respects. To all of them, but to a family member in particular. The sheer scale of that place is just incomprehensible. So many dead, so young, and for what?
No place can portray the horror of Passchendale more than a walk in this cemetery where lie the remains of 11,965 men, of whom a staggering 8,369 are unknown. 'They will not grow old, As we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them. Or the years condemn. At the going down of the sun. And in the morning. We will remember them.
I remember going there to see my great uncle but at the time I didn't know he was buried there. I walked straight past him and didn't know until I got back home two years later planing on going back so I can pay my respects to me properly after seven years of not being there.
we've been here a few times. you did an excellent job of capturing the atmosphere with your modern technology, The reverse flight from 2.08 - 2.38 is inspired. dramaticlly showing an impression of the scale of those "incredibly Nameless names" (Sassoon)
I was trying to search up the football match between Newcastle and Sunderland but this came up and I realised I've been to this cemetery as part of a school trip
Tyne Cot. Odd name? Yes and no. The German bunker now beneath the cemetery cross, was captured by the Northumberland Fusiliers, and the bunker they attacked looked like and reminded them of the little cottages found in the Tyne Valley, so its was knicknamed 'Tyne Cot'.
Philip Smith - Composer Yes ofcourse. Just send me a copy of the final product please! Many many thanks. I'm Glad to inspire people with stuff like this. Hope to hear from you again! Greetings
Robin Wastyn Wonderful. Thank you. It'll be a little while yet. I'll let you know when it's available, and will link to this original in the description. Cheers.
Robin Wastyn Hi Robin. Just to let you know, the music is finished and the video is up. You can find it on my channel. Please share with family and friends. It's been a pleasure working with your video.
Would somebody tell me are all these headstones in memory of all who died or are they buried there's they would never have done it so well during a war?
Around the walls of the cemetery are panels with the names of another 34000 who are still listed as missing, thats in addition to the 55000 on the menin gate, they discovered they didn't have enough space on the menin gate to record everyone.
