Impressive work as always mate. Those new views are amazing. You do not have to read any further. I am with the group that says, Join the ripped-up tracks to the siding. My suggestion is to bring the rail or lifted rail over the bridge in a 60ft length along with a pile of old sleepers neatly stacked across the old track bed. Put someone from the Station and Yardman down near the pile with plans. Like all good Railway plans, they will be there talking about it for all time. My reasoning is that track over a Bridge is often not touched as it is part of the bridge construction. A yardman is not worried about a bit of mess. The Station staff would be. You might even get the signalman moaning about the mess around the bridge. A short-term solution might be to have a couple of lads from both the Station and the Yard down there clearing small trees out of the area while the two? three bosses talk.

Good morning Tony, that was some good work. I fully agree with using paper and card to form a good foundation. It's easy to do and not to difficult to alter if you don't like the result first time. You've definitely got a good eye for colour and finish. Tyne dock is coming along nicely. Love the area where the rain has washed the ground is showing the soil, it very effective. A bit of a understatement (not a bad effort this week) I think it's marvellous, well done you, and you're new camera positions are spot on they show of the area perfectly. I've been to school this week Alfie's class are doing Romans, and we spent a afternoon designing and making mosaics, I managed to get my jumper into a mess, but that's me, and Alfie is pleased. So when Anne's up and about we're off carpet shopping ( I know I'm living the dream). Enjoy the show love to Laura, Eddy Anne xxx

According to an Irshman 3 dirty tees = 99. When the first layout was Built by our Uncle Terry and Dad. My older brother and I were the paper Mache makers. The tunnels and hills were made using Chicken wire and covered over with strips of newspaper using flour and water. Then cover it in fine-torn newspaper mixed in with the flour and water. No PVA around in those days. Martin. Thailand. (It was nice watching that and bringing back memories).

Hi Tony! The papier mache really took me back to when I was a kid! I remember working with my dad in Wellfield Shed, making hills using chicken wire and papier mache! They turned out incredibly strong, although it did result in quite a few bloody fingers after being cut by the chicken wire! Lol! I much prefer your paper / cardboard strip method to build a base! Cheers, Ian.

Dear Tony, beautiful video on some true and honest ‘old school’ paper maché land forming. Love the way the scene blends together the Tyne Dock exit of the MPD. Even though the shunt track is in line with the discarded track on the bridge towards Tyne, the separation by the buffer allows for the enhancement of the illusion between MPD and the Tyne Dock approach. Very interesting to see how the addition of the ‘west side’ signal box, the little shed and the shrubbery in the foreground on the embankment now start to define the ‘negative space’ over all the tracks towards the backdrop and the brewery corner. Am very curious how you will further develop that particular section of the layout. And of course your plans for the empty lot on the MPD territory close to the fascia side. As always, very inspiring and incentivizing vid. I’ll bet you’ll find excellent new spots for the camcorder. Cheerio

I expect Mr Stevie Lightweight could do with a few of Mrs Cookwel's' homemade steak and kidney pies. Being an upstanding member of the community, Mrs C has kindly donated her Steak and Kidney Pie Recipe, to the WI. They will soon be busy providing refreshments at the Annual Plate Layers Get Together in the hut near Tyne Dock Station. Max Bygraves will also be singing a duet with Mrs Mills, and Mrs Simms will be playing the piano. For the pastry • 250g plain flour, plus extra for rolling • 140g cold unsalted butter, roughly cubed • 1 large egg yolk • 1 small egg whisked with 1 tbsp milk, for the egg wash For the filling • 1 ox kidney, about 400g/14oz, get it fresh from your butcher. Pig's and lamb's kidneys aren't suitable as they only need short cooking • 1kg trimmed British top rump beef • 250g flat mushrooms, unpeeled but wiped with a damp cloth • 3 tbsp groundnut or vegetable oil • 100g unsalted butter • 1 large onion, peeled and thickly chopped • 50-85g plain flour, depending on how thick you like your gravy • 600ml off-the-boil water • 1 tbsp Marigold Swiss vegetable bouillon powder • 1 large bay leaf

Thanks for this, Tony, I've got quite a bit of embankment to build and intend to give your methods a try. There's one thing though Tony, please don't take this the wrong way but back in steam days the railways put a lot of effort into preventing trees and scrub from becoming established close to the tracks because of the fire risk... Railway land seventy years ago was much more open than it is now - diesels don't set fire to things in the way that steam locos did... Back when I was a kid back in the fifties and sixties grass fires were a regular occurance whenever there was a dry summer - us train spotters used to gleefully beat them out which was great fun! Thank you for sharing your layout, All the best, Ken.
