This video, created by Nucleus Medical Media, shows type 2 diabetes, a condition in which the level of sugar in the blood is too high. The animation begins by showing the normal physiology of food absorption and the mechanism of action of insulin. The pathology of type 2 diabetes is portrayed, including low insulin production, insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, and common symptoms. Acute complications are shown, including diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar hyperglycemic nonketotic syndrome, hypoglycemia (insulin shock), seizures, and diabetic coma. Chronic complications are displayed, including atherosclerosis, blindness, neuropathy, and renal failure. Multiple treatments are detailed at the end of the animation, including blood glucose monitoring, healthy eating, regular exercise, and medications.

I recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes after getting covid. I was already predisposed because I have both types on both sides of my family and I have PCOS, but COVID really did a number on my pancreas. I even had a take a medical leave of absence from college and drop all of my classes last week because my health is so bad now. Now everything has changed and I’m trying to adjust to it. I’m scared of needles but I have to prick my finger multiple times a day and give myself insulin in the night. So much is different now and I’m not going to lie, I’m absolutely terrified. I don’t know how I’m going to make it through this but I’m going to try my best. I’m super grateful for the support I’ve received from my friends and family as well! I’m trying to learn as much as I can do I can get through this and live as long as possible

Have a look at keto diet. There's a channel that explains how it works, also from medical perspective: Dr Berg. It might work for you. PCOS and diabetes are both usually triggered by overconsumption of carbohydrates.

I'm 26, and I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a few months ago. At work I began to use the restroom much more frequently than usual, drank significant amounts of water than usual, and lost more than 20 pounds. When the doctor took my blood sugar, the reading on the glucometer came out as high as 410. She identified my family history accompanied by excessive work-related stress and lack of sleep as the main contributors, although my eating habits were awful too. Fortunately my blood sugars are now well controlled, since I take medications as prescribed by my doctor, try to get at least 7 hours of sleep, exercise regularly, and plan meals accordingly as much as I could. But if I stopped taking my medications and went back to my poor eating habits before I was diagnosed, my blood sugars would go back up the way they were. Yet I still feel the need that there is room to make some improvements. For example, there are times when I would still succumb to eating unhealthy foods, such as donuts, hamburgers, ramen noodles, etc. But such cravings only happened when I was in a bad mood, or when I was simply having a bad day. Nowdays I turn to other ways to relieve stress, such as going to the theater to watch a movie, shopping at the mall, or playing video games.

This video is very informative. I'm so scared now after watching this video warning me about the complication of diabetes. Now I gotta rethink what I eat and drink. I thought diabetes is not a serious enough disease and that as long as I can manage it, everything will be okay. The best thing to do something about diabetes is not to have it in the first place.

I'm a fast learner and as to what I can understand as a fan of your page: The body does what it must do to keep us functional. When problems arise, what it does is compensate for the loss (which is good, but bad in the long run) and later on stop compensating when the need is supplied. Ex: cells need glucose as energy to function. Without it, the body starts compensating and uses alternatives (protein and fat) for energy until you supply for its glucose. The result will be a skinny you , we all be skinny without protein and fat which the body just used as compensation for your lacking in glucose. I am in awe in the science of human body.

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a potentially life-threatening complication in patients with diabetes mellitus. It happens predominantly in those with type 1 diabetes, but it can occur in those with type 2 diabetes under certain circumstances. DKA results from a shortage of insulin; in response the body switches to burning fatty acids and producing acidic ketone bodies that cause most of the symptoms and complications.

I love these videos! This video left out the key cause of type 2 diabetes...intramyocellular lipid (fat inside the muscle cells). This is what causes the insulin resistance in the first place. The fat gums up the works and the insulin receptors don’t work right. Get the fat out of the muscle cell and diabetes can be reversed. Yes, it’s possible! Check out The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, and nutritionfacts.org. These two organizations also have RU-vid channels. Watch and enjoy!

I just recently was hospitalized for other reasons and they checked my blood for everything under the sun. They said everything was normal and I confirmed that with my doc on my followup. I do have quite a bit of nerve damage though but I am guessing that is a result of to much manual labor.

I don't get one thing. If you have Type 2 diabetes that means that your receptors are 'bad'. So how can you change it with healthy diet???? The insulin still can't get into your cells...

+LennyStyles Evans Because if you eat healthy low fat food, then you will gradually lose weight especially if you're obese. And if you lose weight, it means that the fat in your body is reduced. Reduced body fat leads to a better and more efficient insulin production and absorption and thus more stable blood sugar level.

+LennyStyles Evans Since your cells aren't able to take in glucose due to non-functional recptors, your blood glucose levels get high beyond normal limits. so you re prescribed to have a diet which does not contain high levels of glucose of carbs like potatoes,rice etc or the stuff that will immediately rise your blood glucose levels such as desserts to avoid high levels of glucose getting into your blood at first place plus medications also help that.

+Sarah Crisp - GTFO with your scam. you can't get rid of diabetes. once you have it you're stuck with it. it's called the honeymoon phase. you can only manage diabetes.

+LennyStyles Evans A healthy diet and ample exercise will re-sensitise the 'bad' receptors to insulin, therefore maing them good receptors again. Once this is achieved, insulin can once again enter your cells.

In simple terms type 2 is not as bad as type 1, receptors do not completely go bad, functional receptors remain however to make the remaining receptors to work you need higher amounts of insulin, beta cells detect rising glucose levels and keep compensating by producing more insulin but they eventually burn out, that's when you hit type 1. So how can one slow down type 2 - weight loss, exercise, no sugar and salt diet - what will all this do - it will put less demand for insulin. You may ask hmm if I exercise then I will need more glucose and more insulin so how would that save my beta cells?

Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic syndrome is a life threatening syndrome that can occur in the patient with diabetes who is able to produce enough insulin to prevent DKA but not enough to prevent severe hyperglycemia, osmotic diuresis, and extracellular fluid depletion

OK! Ty Scott Wilson... Im 35...????? Doctors told me my thyroids aren't active like they used to be... I dunno...what do you think?? Any suggestions?? Comments? How old are you, Scott??
@scottwilly86
@scottwilly86 9 лет назад
Rebecca Bowen 35 is young. You shouldn't be having thyroid issues. Did your doctor check blood work and then tell you it may be your thyroid? If you did have blood work done, do you remember TSH? Did he give you the results? You can compare yours with "normal" in your age group just by looking at your labs. I assume when you were diagnosed with diabetes, you had bloods done for impaired fasting glucose. Why didn't he/she mention anything about TSH, GGTP, triglycerides?
@rebeccabowen6829
@rebeccabowen6829 9 лет назад
Yes Scott... I had blood work done couple times and results came back and I called them and yes they said my Thyroids... Huh? No! She didn't mention about TSH or GGTP..what does those letters stand for?? What does triglycerides mean??
@scottwilly86
@scottwilly86 9 лет назад
Rebecca Bowen Okay as a responsible person to yourself you should ask for the bloods and look them over yourself. Everything on that lab can be googled and researched. Become an educated consumer, if you will. For example, TSH; Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. You can look at TSH on your lab, which should provide a reference range, and double check online for your age (35). Educate yourself and treat yourself better. You'll be happier.
